Artificial Neural Networks to reconstruct incomplete satellite data: application to the Mediterranean Sea Surface Temperature

Satellite data can be very useful in applications where extensive spatial information is needed, but sometimes missing data due to presence of clouds can affect data quality. In this study a methodology for pre-processing sea surface temperature (SST) data is proposed. The methodology, that processes measures in the visible wavelength, is based on an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) system. The effectiveness of the procedure has been also evaluated comparing results obtained using an interpolation method. After the methodology has been identified, a validation is performed on 3 different episodes representative of SST variability in the Mediterranean sea. The proposed technique can process SST NOAA/AVHRR data to simulate severe storm episodes by means of prognostic meteorological models

Analisis Pengaruh Rasio Keuangan Dan Market Effect Untuk Memprediksi Kebangkrutan Bank Menggunakan Model Regresi Logistik (Studi Pada Bank Yang Terdaftar Di Bursa Efek Indonesiaperiode 2008-2012)

This study aims to determine the effect of accounting ratio and market effect for predicting bank's bankruptcy with logistic regression model. Beside that this research also to measure the correction of bank's bankruptcy predicting model.The research data is secondary data from annual financial statements of bank, annual report of bank, and bank's stock history report. While the population in this research were all commercial banks in Indonesia that is still in operation and listing on the Indonesia stock exchange during the period of 2008-2012. By using the method of purposive sampling obtained 21 banks for the sample. The analysis is using logistic regression.The test results of logistic regression, model composed by accounting number and market effect.is illustratable probability of bank's bankruptcy observe by the model fit result. Accounting numbers CAR, NPL and BOPO are significantly effect for probability of bank's bankruptcy. By all of the variables in this research can explain 69% probability of bank's bankruptcy and the other 31% explain by other variable. Predicting Accuracy of the model in this research is 95.2%

Sciatic neuropathy in an acromegalic cat without concurrent diabetes mellitus

Case summary: A 17-year-old neutered male European Shorthair cat was presented owing to an inability to jump and respiratory stridor. The owner did not report any other clinical signs. On physical examination, the main findings were plantigrade stance, broad facial features and inspiratory stridor. Neurological examination revealed posterior paraparesis, hypotonia and right hindlimb muscle atrophy. Laboratory findings were unremarkable and glycaemia was normal. Serum insulin-like growth factor 1 concentration was elevated (>1000 ng/ml). A total body CT scan showed an enlarged pituitary gland, thickening of the nasal turbinates and an L7–S1 right foraminal stenosis. Electrodiagnostic testing confirmed the presence of a neuropathy affecting both sciatic nerves. The cat was treated with gabapentin only and was still alive and euglycaemic 16 months after the diagnosis. Relevance and novel information: This case describes for the first time sciatic neuropathy, an occasional complication of acromegaly in people, as a possible clinical presentation in acromegalic cats without concurrent diabetes mellitus

Faktor-faktor yang Mempengaruhi Pemilihan Karir Profesi Akuntan Publik Bagi Mahasiswa Akuntansi

The research was conducted by using a survey of students in Accounting University of Riau (UR), State Islamic University (UIN), Islamic University of Riau (UIR) in Pekanbaru. This study aims to determine the effect of intrinsic factors of work, financial rewards, consideration of labor market, social values and work environment on career choice public accounting profession.The population in this study were all accounting students who have taken courses audit 1. Samples taken of accounting totaled 94 students. The type of data used is primary data by using questionnaire method of data collection. The method of data analysis used in this study is multiple regression (multiple regression) with the help of SPSS version 17.Results of hypothesis testing showed variable intrinsic factor of work tcount 3.713, ttable 1.986 with a significant value of 0.000, the financial rewards gained tcount 4.334, ttable 1.986 with significant value 0.000 and obtain a work environment tcount 2.649, ttable 1.986 with significant value by 0.010, with the results of the above three variables influence the career choice public accounting profession. . While considerations of labor market variable gain tcount 0.894, ttable 1.986 with significant values of 0.374 and acquire social values of tcount 0.678, ttable 1.986 with a significant value of 0.500, with the results of both these variables did not significantly influence the selection of professional career public accountant. The independent variables in this study were able to influence the dependent variable, while the remaining 38% is explained by other variables not included in this study, such as market motivation, motivation of individual personality, IPK, type of work, number of jobs, students perceptions of sacrifices and benefits of public accountants , professional training, professional recognition, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control.Key Word : intrinsic factors of work, financial rewards, consideration of labor market, social values, work environment, career choice public accounting professio

Pengaruh Konflik Peran, Kepuasan Kerja dan Budaya Organisasi terhadap Kinerja Pemeriksa Pajak pada Kpp Madya Pekanbaru dan Kpp Madya Batam

The research aimed to analyse the effect role conflict, work satisfaction and organizational of cultural to performance of tax auditors at KPP Madya Pekanbaru and KPP Madya Batam. The respondent from this research are auditors that working at KPP Madya Pekanbaru and KPP Madya Batam. The samples with saturated sample method. The data used are primary data collected through questionnaires. Questionnaires which can be processed is number 52 questionnaires from 65 questionnaires distributed. Data analysis techniques using multiple regression analysis using SPSS version 20 was used to test whether the independent variables affect the dependent variable. Mattia Preti : architetto della Sacra Religione di Malta

Mattia Preti was primarily known to the Catholic world of the seventeenth century as a prolific painter and, since 1700, much ink has been spilled concerning his rich legacy of paintings in Rome, Naples, Malta and elsewhere, remarkable for the sophistications of their composition and execution and for their potential of admirably adorning sacred and profane interiors in true baroque style. By contrast very little ink has been spilled and still less research work has been carried out, concerning what I consider to be Mattia Preti’s praiseworthy architectural skills, particularly evident during the 1660-1699 period when he was serving the Religion of Malta. One notable exception was a contribution by the twentieth-century art historian, Chev. Vincenzo Bonello who was the first person who was brave enough to contribute a brief but concise article entitled Mattia Preti, Architetto to the proceedings of the XV congresso di storia dell’architettura, held in Malta in September 1967 and published in Rome in 1970. In this paper, I shall attempt to highlight some references to Mattia Preti’s architectural formation and post-1660 activity as an architect by focusing on what is revealed in at least four quasi-contemporary printed sources, before discussing some case-studies of his architectural activity in Malta.peer-reviewe
