    No full text
Implementation of the EMI Execution Service (ES) specification will ensure interoperability in Grid infrastructures, including the NGI-UA, since a single set of specifications and a common job management interface will be used. This paper presents the results of the study of applying of the EMI-ES specification to provide interoperability in the Ukrainian national grid. During the research next features were studied: the structure of the EMI-ES specification, developed on the basis of the analysis of computing services in industrial environments by Working Group OGF Production Grid Infrastructure (PGI), functionality in data staging, presented by elements of stage-in (file download), and stage-out (extraction of results). The modular structure of the EMI-ES, which allows launching cross submissions between different middleware and computing elements, is represented. The execution order of the ES submission command is reviewed and shown schematically. The implementation of the EMI-ES service in middleware ARC is described. Next steps in development of the EMI Execution Service (ES) are also described.Впровадження специфікації EMI Execution Service (ES) забезпечить функціональну сумісність в грід інфраструктурах, включаючи NGI-UA, так як буде використовуватися єдиний набір специфікацій і загальний інтерфейс управління завдання. Dendritic flux avalanches in superconducting films

    No full text
Thermomagnetic instability in general, and dendritic flux avalanches in particular, have attracted considerable attention of both scientists and engineers working on superconductor applications. Though being harmful for the performance of many superconducting devices, the avalanches provide a fruitful playground for experimental and theoretical studies of complex dynamics of the vortex matter. In this paper, we report on the progress in understanding the mechanisms responsible for the development of the giant magnetic avalanches. We review recent results on magneto-optical imaging of the fingering instability in superconducting films and analyze them basing on the recent theoretical model that establishes criteria for onset of the dendritic avalanches

An increase in the critical current and suppression of AC losses in superconducting wires and tapes with soft magnetic sheath have been predicted theoretically and confirmed experimentally. In this work we present the results of magneto-optical investigations on a series of Ag-sheathed Bi-2223 tapes with Ni coating. We visualize distributions of magnetic field at increasing external field and different temperatures, demonstrating a difference between the flux propagation in the superconductor with Ni rims and a reference sample without Ni coating.Comment: 2 page

Enterosorption as a method to decrease the systemic toxicity of cisplatin

    No full text
A perspective adsorptive method to minimize systemic toxic effects of chemotherapy is enterosorption (ES). However, the capabilities of this method are far from being completely studied. The question remains opened — should ES be initiated in the first hours on completing cytostatic infusion without the risk of their anticancer activity to be decreased. Aim: to analyze ES influence on anticancer activity and toxic reactions of cisplatin (CP) upon the use of carbon enterosorbent in 1 h after intravenous administration of cytostatic. Methods: CP at the dose of 1 mg/kg body weigh (BW) was administered to Guerin carcinoma-bearing rats each second day for two weeks. Enterosorbents on the basis of highly activated carbon fibers were administered by per os daily 1 h after CP injection. 3 days after the last CP administration the rats were weighted and blood under ether narcosis has been taken for biochemical examination. Tumors and innate organs were isolated, weighted, and fixed in 4% buffered formalin for morphologic examination. Results: In rats administered with CP at the background of ES, BW loss was in 1.6 times lower than in animals after CP session. Relative kidney weight in CP-treated rats was 33.9% higher than in normal ones (p ≤ 0.05). No significant differences were detected between relative kidney weights in the CP + ES-treated and intact animals. Introduction of ES allowed prevent an 30% increase of creatinin content observed in blood plasma after CP treatment (р ≤ 0.05). Urea content was 1.7 times lower in blood plasma of CP + ES-treated rats than after CP treatment. CP caused significant toxic injuries in kidneys, liver, and spleen tissues. Morphologic structure of organs in rats treated with CP at the background of ES was affected at much lower degree. In tumors, large areas of newly formed connective tissue and blood vessels have been fixed after the CP+ES action instead of large necrotic area observed after CP treatment. ES caused insignificant suppression of Guerin carcinoma growth and had additional impact to inhibitory action of CP. Conclusion: Active carbon enterosorbents which are administrated just 1 h after CP administration possesses detoxicating potential sufficient for significant elimination of toxic effect of the cytostatic at the background of complete preservation of its antitumor activity

Magneto-optical imaging of magnetic flux patterns in superconducting films with antidots

Superconducting YBaCuO thin films were equipped with a special arrangement of antidots (holes) of 1 micron radius in order to guide the stream of magnetic flux moving in (or out of) the sample. The flux distribution and its dynamics were visualized using real-time magneto-optical imaging. It is clearly demonstrated that one-dimensional antidot arrays strongly facilitate propagation of magnetic flux. We also demonstrate a possibility to alter the direction of flux motion in a controlled way by special arrangement of intercepting antidot arrays. Our resolution was sufficient for observation of flux in particular antidots, which allows a more detailed dynamic analysis of such systems.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, submitted to Physica C, Proc. of VORTEX-IV Workshop on Crete-200

Aim: to conduct a hygienic assessment of new architectural and planning solutions of psychiatric health care facility buildings in Ukraine and give a comparative description of the sanitary standards of the latter in the EU. The study was conducted based on the analysis of State Building Norms (SBN) B.2.2-10:2019 “Buildings and structures. Health care facilities” (draft, final revision), scientific sources of domestic and foreign scientists. A survey of the chief physicians of psychiatric hospitals of Ukraine concerning safe sanitary and hygienic, anti-epidemic conditions for the functioning of psychiatric health care facilities was conducted. We consider it necessary to present more carefully architectural and planning solutions in the relevant section of SBN B.2.2-10:2019 (draft, final revision) or to use the opportunity specified in the introduction to these Norms, and to supplement them with the Manual on the design of psychiatric health care facilities, taking into account the experience of the European Union. To create an appropriate “therapeutic environment” in new domestic mental health care facilities, it is necessary to implement European requirements in the design of these facilities with the involvement of multidisciplinary groups: (from architects to nurses, from construction contractors to patients) and supplement SBN B.2.2-10:2019 “Buildings and structures. Health care Facilities” of Ukraine with a guide for designing facilities of a new type of “Mental Health Centers” as in the Republic of Poland. We have developed and sent to the chief physicians of psychiatric hospitals of Ukraine «Questionnaire for scientific sanitary and epidemiological assessment of the conditions of placement of a psychiatric health care facility”. Based on the analysis of the block of questions on sanitary and antiepidemic and sanitary and hygienic parameters that characterize the buildings of domestic psychiatric hospitals, the location of medical structures and auxiliary units on the land plot, i.e. the design of buildings is determined. In particular, 50% of psychiatric hospitals are housed in combined buildings, 25% have a pavilion system (separate buildings), 12.5% each have a centralized system (all in one building) and a block system. The number of stories of psychiatric hospitals up to 2 is 50%, up to 3 – 37.5% and up to 5 stories in those which have been under construction since 1960 – 12.5%. Analysis of the questionnaire block on the conditions of stay, treatment, rehabilitation of the mentally ill revealed the possibility of organizing occupational therapy in 12.5% of psychiatric hospitals, where special workshops are equipped and patients can acquire professional skills. Physiotherapy rooms are equipped in 50% of psychiatric hospitals. Low provision of patients with furniture was revealed: 25% of patients partially have proper desk, 75% do not have it; 50% are provided with proper chairs; 62.8% use proper bedside tables and 25% – closets for storing personal clothes

The light output, α/β\alpha/\beta ratio, and pulse shape have been investigated at 25-25^\circ C with PbWO4_4 crystal scintillators undoped, and doped by F, Eu, Mo, Gd and S. The fast 0.010.06μ0.01-0.06 \mus and middle 0.10.5μ0.1-0.5 \mus components of scintillation decay were observed for all the samples. Slow components of scintillation signal with the decay times 13μ1-3 \mus and 1328μ13-28 \mus with the total intensity up to 50\approx50% have been recognized for several samples doped by Molybdenum. We found some indications of a pulse-shape discrimination between α\alpha particles and γ\gamma quanta with PbWO4_4 (Mo doped) crystal scintillators.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures, submitted to NIM

Received: January 25th, 2023 ; Accepted: May 21st, 2023 ; Published: June 17th, 2023 ; Corresponding author e-mail: [email protected] the present study, in a panel of promising winter and facultative barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) breeding lines, the peculiarities of yield performance and its combination with resistance (tolerance) to the most common under conditions of the Ukrainian Forest-Steppe abiotic and biotic stresses have been determined. In 2016-17–2018-19 the breeding lines were differentiated based on grain yield, thousand kernel weight, frost resistance, leakage of electrolytes, relative drought tolerance, lodging resistance, and resistance to powdery mildew (caused by Blumeria graminis (DC.) E. O. Speer, f. sp. hordei emend. É. J. Marchal (anamorph Oidium monilioides Link)), spot blotch (caused by Cochliobolus sativus (anamorph Bipolaris sorokiniana [Sacc.] Shoem.)), and leaf rust (caused by Puccinia hordei Otth.). GYT (genotype by yield × trait) biplot model was used for comprehensive evaluation of the breeding lines by a combination of yield with a complex of traits. As a result, the winter breeding line ‘Pallidum 5096’ and facultative breeding line ‘Pallidum 5110’ superior to others in terms of yield × traits combinations have been identified. These breeding lines as new varieties ‘MIP Atlas’ and ‘MIP Yanus’ accordingly have been submitted to the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination for further State Qualification Examination. The winter (‘Pallidum 5134’, ‘Pallidum 5097’, ‘Pallidum 5024’, ‘Pallidum 5090’, and ‘Pallidum 5130’) and facultative (‘Pallidum 5153’, ‘Pallidum 5102’, ‘Pallidum 5126’, and ‘Pallidum 5131’) breeding lines can be used as valuable genetic sources in breeding programs in Ukraine and some other Central a nd Eastern European countries
