Optical models of the molecular atmosphere

    Get PDF
The use of optical and laser methods for performing atmospheric investigations has stimulated the development of the optical models of the atmosphere. The principles of constructing the optical models of molecular atmosphere for radiation with different spectral composition (wideband, narrowband, and monochromatic) are considered in the case of linear and nonlinear absorptions. The example of the development of a system which provides for the modeling of the processes of optical-wave energy transfer in the atmosphere is presented. Its physical foundations, structure, programming software, and functioning were considered

Comment on `Dynamical properties of small polarons'

We show that the conclusion on the breakdown of the standard small polaron theory made recently by E.V. deMello and J. Ranninger (Phys. Rev. B 55, 14872 (1997)) is a result of an incorrect interpretation of the electronic and vibronic energy levels of the two-site Holstein model. The small polaron theory, when properly applied, agrees well with the numerical results of these authors. Also we show that their attempt to connect the properties of the calculated correlation functions with the features of the intersite electron hopping is unsuccessful.Comment: To appear in Phys. Rev.

The specifics of social work with victims of terrorism

The international situation in the modern world is characterized by instability, precariousness, and a high risk to the lives of people who may experience the negative consequences of emergencies arising from a variety of factors. Acts of terrorism belong to the phenomena of social emergencies of a criminal nature and currently represent one of the most widespread problems faced by 67% of modern developed and developing countries. Numerous terrorist acts compel heads of countries from around the world to come together and develop the most effective strategies to counter terrorism in their countries and the international community.

Luttinger-liquid-like transport in long InSb nanowires

Long nanowires of degenerate semiconductor InSb in asbestos matrix (wire diameter is around 50 \AA, length 0.1 - 1 mm) were prepared. Electrical conduction of these nanowires is studied over a temperature range 1.5 - 350 K. It is found that a zero-field electrical conduction is a power function of the temperature GTαG\propto T^\alpha with the typical exponent α4\alpha \approx 4. Current-voltage characteristics of such nanowires are found to be nonlinear and at sufficiently low temperatures follows the power law IVβI\propto V^\beta. It is shown that the electrical conduction of these nanowires cannot be accounted for in terms of ordinary single-electron theories and exhibits features expected for impure Luttinger liquid. For a simple approximation of impure LL as a pure one broken into drops by weak links, the estimated weak-link density is around 10310410^3-10^4 per cm.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure

Distribution Grid Future Planning under Uncertainty Conditions

The paper presents an approach for making decisions about the future development of a distribution grid under uncertainty conditions. The levels of a grid hosting capacity and adequacy are examined using probabilistic approach compared to the conventional deterministic fit-and-forget approach. It is shown that the probabilistic approach according to the 99 % confidence probability saves significant costs in comparison with the deterministic approach. The probabilistic calculations prove the use of an equipment rated capacity downsized by 2 points of a typical IEC scale, and in some cases to refuse the construction of a parallel circuit. The main contribution of the paper is a method for choosing an effective rated voltage of a distribution grid in a probabilistic interpretation based on the conventional formulas of Still, Zalessky and Illarionov. The technique includes obtaining the probability of loads location at different distances from power supply centre and the probability of load power distribution in a given range of values. It is shown that the calculation using the developed method makes possible to prefer grid rated voltage at least 1 point downsized by IEC scale with sufficient savings due to the difference in the equipment price compared with the deterministic fit-and-forget approach. © 2021, European Association for the Development of Renewable Energy, Environment and Power Quality (EA4EPQ). Hyperspectral images neural network analysis of unstained micropreparations

The article presents the results of a study of hyperspectral imaging in microscopy to assess pathological changes in unstained medical micropreparations.Hyperspectral imaging was carried out using a system of synchronous shooting and movement of a movable table combined with a stepper motor. To improve the quality of theobtained images, software correction of the illumination of the spectral channels was used. The classification was carried out by a convolutional neural network. This method may be promising for assessing pathological changes in clinical practice. Experimental studies were carried out on histological preparations with different types of tissues without staining with contrasting medical dyes. To assess the reliability of the classification method, a comparison was made with thestandard method using staining of the studied samples
