    Study of antimicrobial activity and technology optimization of Calendulae flos galenicals

    The article presents materials on optimization of manufacture technology for Calendulae flos galenicals with medium level of antibacterial activity. For antibacterial study of extracts, we used agar well diffusion method. In our research, we utilized six test-strain microorganisms: E. coli ATCC 25922, S. aureus ATCC 25923, P. vulgaris ATCC 4636, P. aeruginosa ATCC 27853, C. albicans ATCC 885/653, and B. subtilis ATCC 6633. We have found that the maximum level of extracts’ antimicrobial activity is achieved in the range of ethanol content in the extractant from 70 to 97 % v/

    Linear IgA bullous dermatosis

    Aim: to present a clinical case of linear IgA bullous dermatosis.Materials and methods. A 44 years old patient complaining of skin rashes on the trunk and extremities, accompanied by severe itching was examined. We carried out a morphological investigation of biopsy samples derived from the lesion and apparently unaffected skin areas using the method of indirect immunofluorescence.Results. The patient having rashes in the form of multiple vesicles and small bubbles with a tight cover, which had been grouped into figures resembling pearl necklaces, demonstrated the presence of focal subepidermal cracks (subepidermal bubble in one location), as well as a linear deposition of IgA along the epidermal basement membrane. According to the clinical picture and following the histological and immunofluorescent investigation of skin biopsies, the patient was diagnosed with linear IgA bullous dermatosis. Lesion regression was achieved as a result of systemic therapy with prednisolone at a dose of 50 mg per day.Conclusion. The diagnosis of linear IgA bullous dermatosis should be made on the basis of skin biopsy investigation by the method of indirect immunofluorescence. Systemic glucocorticosteroids are seen as an effective approach to the treatment of such patients

    A Study on the Dynamics of the Development of Red Steppe Cows and Their Ayrshire and Holstein Crossbreeds

    When purchasing animals from abroad, agricultural enterprises often underestimate their demand for feed quality and feeding standards for ensuring genetically determined milk productivity. Therefore, increasing attention should be paid to raising local breeds. During the creation of new production relations, it is very important to preserve achievements of scientists and breeders. The widespread use of red steppe cows is due to good feed payment, unpretentiousness, and their adaptability to the steppe zone with its arid climate. There was a real threat of extinction of purebred red steppe cattle: with the intensification of dairy cattle breeding, as well as low milk productivity, these animals are inferior to the best dairy breeds by productivity, but they are better by endurance, resistance to diseases, and adaptability to extreme environmental conditions. Therefore, scientific research is needed on improving the productive and technological qualities of this breed using the best global gene pool of dairy cattle. This article presents the results of a study on the development of heifers of purebred red steppe cows and their Ayrshire and red-motley Holstein crossbreeds. Differences in the live weight indicators of the purebred and crossbred heifers were due to the effect of crossbreeding and intensive growing technology, which made it possible to maximize the genetic potential of the crossbred animals.     Effect of lithium borate coating on the electrochemical properties of LiCoO2 electrode for lithium-ion batteries

    The effect of a protective coating of fused lithium borate, Li3BO3, on the physicochemical and electrochemical characteristics of LiCoO2 has been studied. A cathode material produced by the SCS method using binary organic fuel, glycine and citric acid. The influence of the experiment conditions on the morphology, crystal structure and specific surface of lithium cobaltite was studied. Electrochemical testing of LiCoO2∙nLi3BO3 samples, n = 5 and 7 mass %, has been performed in the cathode Li|Li+-electrolyte|LiCoO2∙nLi3BO3 half-cell using 1M LiPF6 in EC/DMC mixture (1:1) as electrolyte in the 2.7-4.3 V range at normalized discharge current С/10, С/5, С/2. The maximal initial discharge capacity of 185 mAh/g was detected for the samples with 5 mass % Li3BO3. The coulomb efficiency of optimal materials in the 40th cycle was 99.1%

Identified is the role of nesting sites, located in attics of residential buildings, in sanitary and epidemiological situation of the city settlement zone

    Debye Temperature and Quantum Diffusion of Hydrogen in Body-Centered Cubic Metals

    Diffusion of deuterium in potassium is studied herein. Mass transfer is controlled predominantly by the mechanism of overbarrier atomic jumps at temperatures 120-260 K and by the tunneling mechanism at 90-120 K. These results together with literature data allowed us to determine conditions under which the quantum diffusion of hydrogen in metals can be observed, which is a fundamental problem. It is established that in metals with a body-centered cubic lattice tunneling can be observed only at temperatures below the Debye temperature θD solely for metals with θD < 350 K. Predictions are made for metals in which quantum diffusion of hydrogen can be experimentally registered. Metals for which such results cannot be obtained are specified as well. Among them are important engineering materials such as α-Fe, W, Mo, V, and Cr. © 2022 The Authors.     Using medical science as an example, there are analysed issues and questions regarding an evolution of the Programme for fundamental scientific research of state science academies. It is demonstrated that the current system for managing fundamental sciences is incredibly conservative. It is concluded that problems with shaping key performance indicators for the Programme of fundamental scientific research 2016 and forthcoming years, including its structure, are the result of a separation of scientific resource management from the management of scientific research. Authors of the article confirm the necessity to integrate scientific institutions into one unique system of scientific research and implementation of scientific inventions into healthcare practice. На примере медицинской науки рассмотрены вопросы и проблемы эволюции Программы фундаментальных научных исследований государственных академий наук. Показано, что существующая система управления фундаментальной наукой чрезвычайно консервативна. Делается вывод, что проблемы формирования плановых показателей Программы фундаментальных научных исследований на2016 г. и последующие периоды, включая её структуру, являются результатом отделения управления научными ресурсами от управления научными исследованиями. Авторами обосновывается необходимость интеграции научных учреждений в единую систему научного поиска и внедрения научных достижений в практическое здравоохранение
