A Model of Optimal Network Structure for Decentralized Nearest Neighbor Search

One of the approaches for the nearest neighbor search problem is to build a network which nodes correspond to the given set of indexed objects. In this case the search of the closest object can be thought as a search of a node in a network. A procedure in a network is called decentralized if it uses only local information about visited nodes and its neighbors. Networks, which structure allows efficient performing the nearest neighbour search by a decentralised search procedure started from any node, are of particular interest especially for pure distributed systems. Several algorithms that construct such networks have been proposed in literature. However, the following questions arise: "Are there network models in which decentralised search can be performed faster?"; "What are the optimal networks for the decentralised search?"; "What are their properties?". In this paper we partially give answers to these questions. We propose a mathematical programming model for the problem of determining an optimal network structure for decentralized nearest neighbor search. We have found an exact solution for a regular lattice of size 4x4 and heuristic solutions for sizes from 5x5 to 7x7. As a distance function we use L1 , L2 and L_inf metrics. We hope that our results and the proposed model will initiate study of optimal network structures for decentralised nearest neighbour search

Tomsk Polytechnic University trains not only the students from the Russian Federation, but also the students from Asia, Africa, East and West. The main teacher’s aim is to teach stu-dents the subject as well as to build up their tolerance towards other cultures and each oth-er. The study of works by E. Gellner, B. Anderson, and E. Hobsbawm allowed forming the theoretical basis of the article and the use of the Smart methodology promoted the practical implementation of the tasks set by the teachers. As a result, it was found that the lessons and activities undertaken in the framework of the curriculum, especially, in the framework of ex-tracurricular activities, allowed students to demonstrate their cultural identity and contrib-uted to the development of tolerance among students. In addition, by means of cultural in-formation exchange students developed the mutual understanding and friendship. The students’ adaptation in a new multicultural environment occurs much quicker

    Intellectual System Diagnostics Glaucoma

    Get PDF
Glaucoma is a chronic eye disease that can lead to permanent vision loss. However, glaucoma is a difficult disease to diagnose because there is no pattern in the distribution of nerve fibers in the ocular fundus. Spectral analysis of the ocular fundus images was performed using the Eidos intelligent system. From the ACRIMA eye image database, 90.7% of healthy eye images were recognized with an average similarity score of 0.588 and 74.42% of glaucoma eye images with an average similarity score of 0.558. The reliability of eye image recognition can be achieved by increasing the number of digitized parameters of eye images obtained, for example, by optical coherence tomography. The research contribution is the digital processing of fundus graphic images by the intelligent system β€œEidos”. The scientific contribution lies in the automation of the glaucoma diagnosis process using digitized data. The results of the study can be used at medical faculties of universities to carry out automated diagnostics of glaucoma
