We based upon the laws of classic and fracture mechanics and we showed that the wine glass breaks when initially its temperature overcomes the temperature of the room and at continuity starts decreasing before equalizing

Φιλία και αίσθημα μοναξιάς στη μέση εφηβική ηλικία

Η φιλία αποτελεί μία συνεργατική σχέση ενός αμοιβαίου συναισθηματικού δεσμού μεταξύ των εφήβων. Η διατήρηση μίας φιλικής σχέσης και η παρουσία του συναισθήματος της μοναξιάς επηρεάζονται από ένα συνδυασμό παραγόντων που σχετίζονται με τα χαρακτηριστικά της προσωπικότητας, τις εκδηλούμενες συμπεριφορές, το φύλο και τη εκάστοτε κοινωνική συνθήκη. Ο σκοπός της παρούσας έρευνας είναι να μελετηθούν οι βασικές διαστάσεις της φιλίας, η σχέση τους με τη μοναξιά και η επίδραση βασικών κοινωνικών-δημογραφικών μεταβλητών σε αυτές. Το δείγμα αποτελούνταν από 317 μαθητές Α’ και Β’ Λυκείου οι οποίοι διέμεναν στην ευρύτερη περιοχή της Αττικής. Οι μαθητές συμπλήρωσαν μια κλίμακα για τη μέτρηση της ποιότητας της καλύτερης φιλικής σχέσης (Friendship Quality Scale), μία κλίμακα για τις διαστάσεις της φιλικής σχέσης το Ερωτηματολόγιο (McGill Friendship Questionnaire-Friend’s Functions) και μία για την διερεύνηση των επιπέδων μοναξιάς που βιώνουν (UCLA Loneliness Scale,Version 3). Τα αποτελέσματα της έρευνας έδειξαν ότι το σύνολο των μαθητών που συμμετείχε στην έρευνα ιεράρχησε υψηλότερα στις φιλικές του σχέσεις τις διαστάσεις της εγγύτητας και της αξιόπιστης συμμαχίας. Το φύλο βρέθηκε να σχετίζεται με όλες σχεδόν τις διαστάσεις της φιλίας και με τα αναφερόμενα επίπεδα μοναξιάς, με τα κορίτσια να έχουν υψηλότερα επίπεδα σε όλες τις διαστάσεις της φιλίας και οριακά υψηλότερα επίπεδα μοναξιάς, σε σύγκριση με τα αγόρια. Το μορφωτικό επίπεδο του πατέρα σχετίστηκε με τη παρεχόμενη από τα παιδιά βοήθεια στις φιλικές τους σχέσεις. Κανένα άλλο κοινωνικό-δημογραφικό χαρακτηριστικό δεν βρέθηκε να σχετίζεται με τις διαστάσεις της φιλίας και τα επίπεδα της μοναξιάς. Από την ανάλυση παλινδρόμησης βρέθηκε ότι η αποδοχή, η οποία αντικατοπτρίζει το βαθμό της συναισθηματικής ή κοινωνικής προσαρμογής από τους φίλους, είναι η μόνη διάσταση της φιλικής σχέσης η οποία επηρεάζει με ανεξάρτητο τρόπο τα επίπεδα της 4 μοναξιάς των παιδιών. Συμπεραίνεται, ότι είναι απαραίτητη η εφαρμογή προγραμμάτων ενημέρωσης και παρέμβασης στο σχολικό πλαίσιο που αποσκοπούν στην προώθηση της αποδοχής, της ενσυναίσθησης, το διάλογο, τη συνύπαρξη, την αλληλεγγύη και το σεβασμό στη μοναδικότητα του καθενός.Friendship is a collaborative relationship of a mutual emotional bond between adolescents. The maintenance of a friendly relationship and the presence of a sense of loneliness are influenced by a combination of factors related to personality traits, behavioural patterns, gender and social status. The purpose of this study is to research the basic aspects of friendship, their correlation with loneliness, and the impact of key socio-demographic variables on them. The sample of the study consisted of 317 senior-high-school students (grades A and B) in the greater Attica region. Students completed a scale for measuring the quality of friendship (Friendship Quality Scale), a scale for friendship aspects using the McGill Friendship Questionnaire-Friend's Functions Questionnaire, and a third tool used to investigate the aspects of loneliness was the UCLA Loneliness Scale Questionnaire (Version 3). The results of the research showed that the total number of students involved in the research prioritized the aspects of proximity and trusted alliance in their friendly relationships. Gender was found to be associated with almost all aspects of friendship and reported levels of loneliness, with girls having higher levels of all aspects of friendship and marginally higher levels of loneliness compared to boys. The educational level of the father was related to the help provided by the children in their friendly relationships. No other socio-demographic characteristics were found to be related to friendship aspects and levels of loneliness. The palindrome analysis found that acceptance, which reflects the degree of emotional or social adjustment by friends, is the only aspect of friendship that independently affects the levels of children's loneliness. In conclusion, it is crucial to implement information and intervention programs in the school context designed to promote acceptance, empathy, dialogue, coexistence, solidarity and respect for the unique individuality of each student

Voltage dip generator for testing wind turbines connected to electrical networks

This paper describes a new voltage dip generator that allows the shape of the time profile of the voltage generated to be configured. The use of this device as a tool to test the fault ride-through capability of wind turbines connected to the electricity grid can provide some remarkable benefits: First, this system offers the possibility of adapting the main features of the time–voltage profile generated (dip depth, dip duration, the ramp slope during the recovery process after clearing fault, etc.) to the specific requirements set forth by the grid operation codes, in accordance with different network electrical systems standards. Second, another remarkable ability of this system is to provide sinusoidal voltage and current wave forms during the overall testing process without the presence of harmonic components. This is made possible by the absence of electronic converters. Finally, the paper includes results and a discussion on the experimental data obtained with the use of a reduced size laboratory prototype that was constructed to validate the operating features of this new device

Fibromatous Uterus in a 16-Year-Old Girl: A Case Report

Although uterine leiomyomas are the most common neoplasms of the female genital tract, this is not the case when referring to women under the age of 20. Only a few cases of uterus leiomyomas have been reported in this age. Preoperative imaging evaluation is mandatory in adolescent women for the accurate detection, localization, and characterization of uterus leiomyomas. We report a case of a 16-year-old girl admitted to our hospital for pain and abdominal distention. The patient underwent multidetector CT examination of the abdomen and MR examination of the pelvis. Both imaging modalities revealed uterine enlargement and the presence of innumerable variably sized leiomyomas. Histopathologic examination following exploratory laparotomy confirmed the presence of uterus leiomyomas. The patient underwent laparoscopic myomectomy two years after the first operation, following MR examination of the pelvis

Conventional and diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging findings of benign fibromatous paratesticular tumor: a case report

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Introduction</p> <p>The vast majority of paratesticular masses are benign. Magnetic resonance imaging of the scrotum may provide valuable information in the pre-operative work-up of scrotal masses, by allowing the precise localization of the lesion and helping in characterizing its nature. Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging is an evolving technique that can be used to improve tissue characterization, when interpreted with the findings of conventional magnetic resonance sequences. We present the case of an adenomatoid tumor of the tunica albuginea, with abundant fibrosis evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging of the scrotum, including both conventional and diffusion-weighted sequences. To the best of our knowledge, there are very few reports in the English literature regarding the magnetic resonance imaging features of this rare benign paratesticular tumor and no report on the diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance findings. We discuss the value of magnetic resonance imaging in the pre-operative diagnosis of benign fibromatous paratesticular tumors and differential diagnosis.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>A 45-year-old Caucasian man was referred to us with a palpable left scrotal mass. Magnetic resonance imaging of his scrotum revealed the presence of a multilobular left paratesticular mass, mainly detected with very low signal intensity on T2-weighted images and restricted diffusion on apparent diffusion coefficient maps. These findings were suggestive of a fibrous component, and were confirmed on histology following lesion excision.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Magnetic resonance imaging of the scrotum, by using both conventional and diffusion-weighted sequences, could have a potential role in the evaluation of scrotal masses.</p
