In the years that followed the revolution, collective discourses and imagery were built that portrayed the Conquest as a violent episode, but also as a fusion of two realities that were both opposed and united, resulting in the beginning of a new race and a new culture: the mestiza. It is therefore important to understand that the content of the nationalist discourse in relation to the Conquest was created from a great paradox: destruction and parallel construction. Muralism represented this historical fact as part of the unifying and identity dynamics of the nation. In this article, I will take into account the thinking of philosophers, writers, poets and painters, paying special attention on miscegenation in order to establish possible connections and comparisons between the formal and content proposal of the following murals: Cortés and La Malinche (1926), The conquest (ca. 1940-45) by Jose Clemente Orozco (1883-1949) and The fusion of two cultures (1963) by Jorge González Camarena (1908-1980).Universidad IberoamericanaArtículo revisado por pare
Systemic lupus erythematosus: how machine learning can help distinguish between infections and flares
Producción CientíficaSystemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a multifaceted autoimmune ailment that impacts multiple bodily systems and manifests with varied clinical manifestations. Early detection is considered the most effective way to save patients’ lives, but detecting severe SLE activity in its early stages is proving to be a formidable challenge. Consequently, this work advocates the use of Machine Learning (ML) algorithms for the diagnosis of SLE flares in the context of infections. In the pursuit of this research, the Random Forest (RF) method has been employed due to its performance attributes. With RF, our objective is to uncover patterns within the patient data. Multiple ML techniques have been scrutinized within this investigation. The proposed system exhibited around a 7.49% enhancement in accuracy when compared to k-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) algorithm. In contrast, the Support Vector Machine (SVM), Binary Linear Discriminant Analysis (BLDA), Decision Trees (DT) and Linear Regression (LR) methods demonstrated inferior performance, with respective values around 81%, 78%, 84% and 69%. It is noteworthy that the proposed method displayed a superior area under the curve (AUC) and balanced accuracy (both around 94%) in comparison to other ML approaches. These outcomes underscore the feasibility of crafting an automated diagnostic support method for SLE patients grounded in ML systems.Ministerio de Asuntos Económicos y Transformación Digital (MINECO) y Cátedra UCLM-Telefónica - (grant PID2021-125122OB-I00
Impact of gender on the acceptance of electronic word-ofmouth (eWOM) information in Spain
The aim of this paper is to explore the differences between males and females in the acceptance of eWOM information. For this purpose, the Information Acceptance Model (IACM), which addresses the characteristics that are evaluated in the use and attitude towards the use of information and play a role in the purchase decision-making process, as demonstrated in the literature, has been used as a reference. An empirical model, which is expected to be validated from the information collected through an online questionnaire completed by 271 users of social networking sites in Spain, has been used. A structural equation model (SEM) is introduced to calculate the measurement structure of the variables and the relationships between them. This paper provides useful insights into the understanding of the differences in the behaviour of males and females regarding online eWOM, and therefore could imply differentiated online marketing and reputation management activities
The mediterranean diet: culture and its impact on consumer habits in Barcelona restaurant
This article studies the importance of the Mediterranean diet in the menus of restaurants in the city of Barcelona. It is based on a review of previous studies about the great influence of the Mediterranean culture on daily aspects such as food. A qualitative study was conducted and a sample of experts—head chefs at restaurants in Barcelona—was selected. The results show that the Mediterranean diet is positioned in the minds of their customers; therefore, all the decisions related to the purchase of products and the planning of menus and dishes are made following the guidelines of the Mediterranean diet. This study is an important contribution to the research field of culture in consumption habits, because it confirms that the Mediterranean diet still is strongly preferred over new foods, dishes and foreign menus. The habits of consumers remain true to their culinary traditions

Influence of the Main Design Factors on the Optimal Fuel Cell-Based Powertrain Sizing
The design of the optimal power distribution system (PDS or powertrain) for fuel cell-based vehicles is a complex task due to PDS comprising one or more power converters, several types of secondary energy sources, a fuel cell, several control loops, and protections, among others. The optimized powertrain design tries to minimize the mass, volume, and cost, and also to improve system efficiency, fuel economy (both hydrogen and electricity), and vehicle autonomy. This paper analyzes the influence of four different factors that deeply affect the optimal powertrain design, in particular: the minimum power delivered by the fuel cell, the storage of the recovered energy from the regenerative braking periods, the battery technology, and the maximum battery state-of-charge variation. The analysis of these factors is carried out over a set of 9 different fuel cell-based architectures applied to a light vehicle, and a 10th architecture corresponding to a pure electric vehicle. This analysis provides the knowledge of how these design factors affect the mass, volume, and cost of the optimal power distribution architectures, and how they can be considered in the design. This research was funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and ERDF, grant number DPI2014-53685-C2-1-R

This document is the Published version of a Published Work that appeared in final form in Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports. To access the final edited and published work see https://doi.org/10.1111/sms.14407Background: It is assumed that people with multiple sclerosis (MS) who participate
in programs of physical exercise improve their physical fitness.
Objective: The aim of this network meta-analysis
(NMA) was to analyze the effect
of different types of exercise on muscular fitness and cardiorespiratory fitness
(CRF) among people with MS and to determine the best type of exercise according
to disease severity.
Methods: MEDLINE, the Physiotherapy Evidence Database, the Cochrane
Library, SPORTDiscus, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched from inception
to April 2022 to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) concerning
the effect of physical exercise on fitness in people with MS. We ranked the types
of physical exercise by calculating the surface under the cumulative ranking
(SUCRA).
Results: We included 72 RCTs involving 2543 MS patients in this NMA. A ranking
of five types of physical exercise (aerobic, resistance, combined [aerobic and
resistance], sensorimotor training, and mind–body
exercises) was achieved.
Combined and resistance training had the highest effect sizes (0.94, 95% CI 0.47,
1.41, and 0.93, 95% CI 0.57, 1.29, respectively) and the highest SUCRA (86.2%
and 87.0%, respectively) for muscular fitness. The highest effect size (0.66, 95% CI
0.34, 0.99) and SUCRA (86.9%) for CRF was for aerobic exercise.
Conclusions: Combined and resistance training seem to be the most effective
exercises to improve muscular fitness and aerobic exercise for CRF in people with
MS
