Demonstration of the temporal matter-wave Talbot effect for trapped matter waves
We demonstrate the temporal Talbot effect for trapped matter waves using
ultracold atoms in an optical lattice. We investigate the phase evolution of an
array of essentially non-interacting matter waves and observe matter-wave
collapse and revival in the form of a Talbot interference pattern. By using
long expansion times, we image momentum space with sub-recoil resolution,
allowing us to observe fractional Talbot fringes up to 10th order.Comment: 17 pages, 7 figure
Azimuthal anisotropy at RHIC: the first and fourth harmonics
We report the first observations of the first harmonic (directed flow, v_1),
and the fourth harmonic (v_4), in the azimuthal distribution of particles with
respect to the reaction plane in Au+Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion
Collider (RHIC). Both measurements were done taking advantage of the large
elliptic flow (v_2) generated at RHIC. From the correlation of v_2 with v_1 it
is determined that v_2 is positive, or {\it in-plane}. The integrated v_4 is
about a factor of 10 smaller than v_2. For the sixth (v_6) and eighth (v_8)

FungalTraits:A user-friendly traits database of fungi and fungus-like stramenopiles
The cryptic lifestyle of most fungi necessitates molecular identification of the guild in environmental studies. Over the past decades, rapid development and affordability of molecular tools have tremendously improved insights of the fungal diversity in all ecosystems and habitats. Yet, in spite of the progress of molecular methods, knowledge about functional properties of the fungal taxa is vague and interpretation of environmental studies in an ecologically meaningful manner remains challenging. In order to facilitate functional assignments and ecological interpretation of environmental studies we introduce a user friendly traits and character database FungalTraits operating at genus and species hypothesis levels. Combining the information from previous efforts such as FUNGuild and Fun(Fun) together with involvement of expert knowledge, we reannotated 10,210 and 151 fungal and Stramenopila genera, respectively. This resulted in a stand-alone spreadsheet dataset covering 17 lifestyle related traits of fungal and Stramenopila genera, designed for rapid functional assignments of environmental studies. In order to assign the trait states to fungal species hypotheses, the scientific community of experts manually categorised and assigned available trait information to 697,413 fungal ITS sequences. On the basis of those sequences we were able to summarise trait and host information into 92,623 fungal species hypotheses at 1% dissimilarity threshold
Mid-rapidity anti-proton to proton ratio from Au+Au collisions at GeV
We report results on the ratio of mid-rapidity anti-proton to proton yields
in Au+Au collisions at \rts = 130 GeV per nucleon pair as measured by the
STAR experiment at RHIC. Within the rapidity and transverse momentum range of
and 0.4 1.0 GeV/, the ratio is essentially independent of
either transverse momentum or rapidity, with an average of for minimum bias collisions. Within errors, no
strong centrality dependence is observed. The results indicate that at this
RHIC energy, although the -\pb pair production becomes important at
mid-rapidity, a significant excess of baryons over anti-baryons is still

Compared to the higher fungi (Dikarya), taxonomic and evolutionary studies on the basal clades of fungi are fewer in number. Thus, the generic boundaries and higher ranks in the basal clades of fungi are poorly known. Recent DNA based taxonomic studies have provided reliable and accurate information. It is therefore necessary to compile all available information since basal clades genera lack updated checklists or outlines. Recently, Tedersoo et al. (MycoKeys 13:1--20, 2016) accepted Aphelidiomycota and Rozellomycota in Fungal clade. Thus, we regard both these phyla as members in Kingdom Fungi. We accept 16 phyla in basal clades viz. Aphelidiomycota, Basidiobolomycota, Blastocladiomycota, Calcarisporiellomycota, Caulochytriomycota, Chytridiomycota, Entomophthoromycota, Glomeromycota, Kickxellomycota, Monoblepharomycota, Mortierellomycota, Mucoromycota, Neocallimastigomycota, Olpidiomycota, Rozellomycota and Zoopagomycota. Thus, 611 genera in 153 families, 43 orders and 18 classes are provided with details of classification, synonyms, life modes, distribution, recent literature and genomic data. Moreover, Catenariaceae Couch is proposed to be conserved, Cladochytriales Mozl.-Standr. is emended and the family Nephridiophagaceae is introduced
Stable isotope composition of the Early–Middle Eocene limestone in the Crimean Piedmont (Republic of Crimea)
Stable isotope compositions of the Early-Middle Eocene limestone were studied in the Prolom quarry (45.105°N; 34.736°E). Samples were collected across a 25 m-thick bed, at 1 m increment. Oxygen and carbon isotope values show little variation across the entire thickness of the bed. The dataset presents the isotope values characteristic of the unaltered limestone forming at shallow depth (nummulite bank) on the Early-Middle Eocene carbonate platform
Susceptibility of three species of the genus
Microsporidia are obligate intracellular parasites that affect the population density of many insect pests. In particular, infection with Nosema pyrausta is one of the major mortality factors for the European corn borer Ostrinia nubilalis, the Asian corn borer Ostrinia furnacalis and the adzuki bean borer Ostrinia scapulalis. The purpose of the work is to compare the susceptibility to N. pyrausta and pathogenesis of three species of moths of the genus Ostrinia. Studies conducted over 2 years have shown that in all three species of host insects under laboratory conditions, both during oral infection and transovarian transmission of infection (in the daughter generations of experimentally infected insects), only diplokaryotic spores formed corresponding to the main morphotype of the genus Nosema. Mean lethal time increased with instar of larvae used for infection but didn’t differ between the three species. The rates of transovarial transmission of N. pyrausta were also similar. Thus, all the insect species examined may equally participate in the parasite persistence in nature and serve as model laboratory hosts for parasitological research and mass propagation of the microsporidium
