Note on scalars, perfect fluids, constrained field theories, and all that

The relation of a scalar field with a perfect fluid has generated some debate along the last few years. In this paper we argue that shift-invariant scalar fields can describe accurately the potential flow of an isentropic perfect fluid, but, in general, the identification is possible only for a finite period of time. After that period in the evolution the dynamics of the scalar field and the perfect fluid branch off. The Lagrangian density for the velocity-potential can be read directly from the expression relating the pressure with the Taub charge and the entropy per particle in the fluid, whereas the other quantities of interest can be obtained from the thermodynamic relations.Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure. Evaluación del profesorado universitario: enfoque metodológico y algunas aportaciones de la investigación

Puede resultarnos extraño tener que aceptar que, pese a los muchos estudios realizados, no existe en la actualidad un consenso amplio sobre lo que es un “buen profesor”. Y esta afirmación es, si cabe, más cierta al referirnos al profesor universitario, pues los desacuerdos comenzarían a aparecer al concretar las finalidades de la enseñanza universitaria. Este hecho nos muestra por qué la evaluación del profesorado universitario es un tema abierto, a debate permanente, en lo referido al conjunto de cuestiones metodológicas que orientan y guían su realización

El modelo económico y su relación con los derechos humanos en Colombia. Una aproximación

The history of neoliberal political economy model in Colombia, show their impact on the development and transformation of economic, social and cultural rights of Colombians in the last two decades. Is concluding that the neoliberal model is not sustainable, and not generates respect for the rights of Colombians. This reflection was developed from an inductive methodology, through critical analysis of sources such as interviews, statistical reports of governmental and non-governmental institutions, research articles in newspapers and magazines, books, chapters, documents and bibliographic databases on the Internet.Los antecedentes del modelo de economía política neoliberal en Colombia permiten analizar, objetivamente, su impacto sobre el desarrollo y la trasformación de los derechos económicos, sociales y culturales de los colombianos en las dos últimas décadas; al final de las cuales se puede concluir que el modelo neoliberal no es sostenible ni genera respeto por los derechos de los Colombianos. Esta reflexión se elaboró desde una metodología inductiva, por medio del análisis crítico de fuentes como: entrevistas, informes estadísticos de instituciones gubernamentales y no gubernamentales, artículos de investigación en periódicos y revistas, libros, capítulos, documentos y bases de datos bibliográficas en Internet

Normativity and Ethics in the Tractatus : Method, Self and Value

I argue that Wittgenstein’s philosophical method shapes his approach to metaphysics and the self and this, in turn, shapes his approach to ethics. The paper is divided into three parts. In Part 1, I examine Wittgenstein’s philosophical method in the Tractatus. In Part 2, I argue that exposure to the views of Schopenhauer, Russell and Mach shapes the evolution of Wittgenstein’s thinking on the self, leading him to reject restrictive (metaphysical) solipsism and to endorse a non-restrictive (philosophical) notion of the subject. In Part 3, I bring out the intimate connection that exists between Wittgenstein’s approaches to philosophical method, the self and ethics in the Tractatus. I argue that, for Wittgenstein, dissolving restrictive solipsism is ethically transforming: this dissolution retunes our dispositions to think and speak in a manner that reflects a greater clarity in our understanding of our place in the world – a clarity of understanding that is, in and of itself, ethically valuable.Peer reviewe
