Supergravity Higgs Inflation and Shift Symmetry in Electroweak Theory
We present a model of inflation in a supergravity framework in the Einstein
frame where the Higgs field of the next to minimal supersymmetric standard
model (NMSSM) plays the role of the inflaton. Previous attempts which assumed
non-minimal coupling to gravity failed due to a tachyonic instability of the
singlet field during inflation. A canonical K\"{a}hler potential with
\textit{minimal coupling} to gravity can resolve the tachyonic instability but
runs into the -problem. We suggest a model which is free of the
-problem due to an additional coupling in the K\"{a}hler potential which
is allowed by the Standard Model gauge group. This induces directions in the
potential which we call K-flat. For a certain value of the new coupling in the
(N)MSSM, the K\"{a}hler potential is special, because it can be associated with
a certain shift symmetry for the Higgs doublets, a generalization of the shift
symmetry for singlets in earlier models. We find that K-flat direction has
This shift symmetry is broken by interactions coming from
the superpotential and gauge fields. This direction fails to produce successful
inflation in the MSSM but produces a viable model in the NMSSM. The model is
specifically interesting in the Peccei-Quinn (PQ) limit of the NMSSM. In this
limit the model can be confirmed or ruled-out not just by cosmic microwave

Temperature Variation Operation of Mixed-VT 3T GC-eDRAM for Low Power Applications in 2Kbit Memory Array
Embedded memories were once utilized to transfer information between the CPU and the main memory. The cache storage in most traditional computers was static-random-access-memory (SRAM). Other memory technologies, such as embedded dynamic random-access memory (eDRAM) and spin-transfer-torque random-access memory (STT-RAM), have also been used to store cache data. The SRAM, on the other hand, has a low density and severe leakage issues, and the STT-RAM has high latency and energy consumption when writing. The gain-cell eDRAM (GC-eDRAM), which has a higher density, lower leakage, logic compatibility, and is appropriate for two-port operations, is an attractive option. To speed up data retrieval from the main memory, future processors will require larger and faster-embedded memories. Area overhead, power overhead, and speed performance are all issues with the existing architecture. A unique mixed-V_T 3T GC-eDRAM architecture is suggested in this paper to improve data retention times (DRT) and performance for better energy efficiency in embedded memories. The GC-eDRAM is simulated using a standard complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) with a 130nm technology node transistor. The performance of a 2kbit mixed-V_T 3T GC-eDRAM array were evaluated through corner process simulations. Each memory block is designed and simulated using Mentor Graphics Software. The array, which is based on the suggested bit-cell, has been successfully operated at 400Mhz under a 1V supply and takes up almost 60-75% less space than 6T SRAM using the same technology. When compared to the existing 6T and 4T ULP SRAMs (others' work), the retention power of the proposed GC-eDRAM is around 80-90% lower
Performance Evaluation of Centralized Reconfigurable Transmitting Power Scheme in Wireless Network-on-chip
Network-on-chip (NoC) is an on-chip communication network that allows parallel communication among all cores to improve inter-core performance. Wireless NoC (WiNoC) introduces long-range and high bandwidth radio frequency (RF) interconnects that can possibly reduce the multi-hop communication of the planar metal interconnects in conventional NoC platforms. In WiNoC, RF transceivers account for a significant power consumption, particularly its transmitter, out of its total communication energy. This paper evaluates the energy and latency performance of a closed loop power management mechanism which enables transmitting power reconfiguration in WiNoC based on number of erroneous received packets. The scheme achieves significant energy savings with limited performance degradation and insignificant impact on throughput
Enabling quantitative data analysis through e-infrastructures
This paper discusses how quantitative data analysis in the social sciences can engage with and exploit an e-Infrastructure. We highlight how a number of activities which are central to quantitative data analysis, referred to as ‘data management’, can benefit from e-infrastructure support. We conclude by discussing how these issues are relevant to the DAMES (Data Management through e-Social Science) research Node, an ongoing project that aims to develop e-Infrastructural resources for quantitative data analysis in the social sciences
The phase relation between sunspot numbers and soft X-ray flares
To better understand long-term flare activity, we present a statistical study
on soft X-ray flares from May 1976 to May 2008. It is found that the smoothed
monthly peak fluxes of C-class, M-class, and X-class flares have a very
noticeable time lag of 13, 8, and 8 months in cycle 21 respectively with
respect to the smoothed monthly sunspot numbers. There is no time lag between
the sunspot numbers and M-class flares in cycle 22. However, there is a
one-month time lag for C-class flares and a one-month time lead for X-class
flares with regard to sunspot numbers in cycle 22. For cycle 23, the smoothed
monthly peak fluxes of C-class, M-class, and X-class flares have a very
noticeable time lag of one month, 5 months, and 21 months respectively with
respect to sunspot numbers. If we take the three types of flares together, the
smoothed monthly peak fluxes of soft X-ray flares have a time lag of 9 months
in cycle 21, no time lag in cycle 22 and a characteristic time lag of 5 months
in cycle 23 with respect to the smoothed monthly sunspot numbers. Furthermore,
the correlation coefficients of the smoothed monthly peak fluxes of M-class and
X-class flares and the smoothed monthly sunspot numbers are higher in cycle 22
than those in cycles 21 and 23. The correlation coefficients between the three
kinds of soft X-ray flares in cycle 22 are higher than those in cycles 21 and
23. These findings may be instructive in predicting C-class, M-class, and
X-class flares regarding sunspot numbers in the next cycle and the physical

An electrochemical DNA biosensor based gold-thiolate conjugation utilizing ruthenium complex [Ru(dppz)2(qtpy)]Cl2
Non toxicity and high isoelectric point of zinc oxide nanorods (ZnO NRs) are the promising materials widely used in biomolecule detection and biomedicine application. An electrochemical DNA biosensor was successfully fabricated by depositing (3-Aminopropyl)triethoxysilane and gold nanoparticles (GNPs) on the hydrothermal growth ZnO NRs. The modified surface with GNPs (35 ± 5 nm) was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray and X-ray diffraction. The fabricated electrode was used for the label-free detection of DNA. Thiolated (–SH) single stranded DNA was immobilized onto the GNPs surface to form a gold-thiolate bond. Hybridization with complementary target DNA was performed with the presence of ruthenium complex. Immobilization and hybridization detection were performed using µAUTOLAB with cyclic voltammetric software. The measured sensitivity of the fabricated electrode for hybridization is up to 1.6 times larger than immobilization
Analysis towards the current management of limited common property in Malaysia
Strata properties in Malaysia were getting popular especially in the urban areas. As the population density in urban centres are expected to grow continuously, the number of residents for strata properties are expected to rise continuously which help to promote the mix-developments to be developed under a strata scheme. However, there are some issues regarding the unfair management for the common property in mixdevelopment where certain owners have to pay the maintenance fee for common properties which are not enjoyable by them. Therefore, this paper has the objective to examine the current practice of strata management towards limited common property. The enactment of Strata Management Act 2013 and enforcement in 2015 promoted the self-governance for strata scheme in Malaysia. For the current strata property, the scheme will be managed by all strata unit owners where Strata Title Act 1985 and Strata Management Act 2013 provide the framework in establishing the Management Corporation to administer and manage the strata scheme. MC is allowed to establish Subsidiary Management Corporation (Sub-MC) to manage limited common property and the designation of limited common property for different interest of parcel proprietors especially for mixdevelopment properties. Although the frameworks and procedures to establish the subsidiary management corporation were introduced under the Circular of JUPEM in 2017, however the number of establishment for Sub-MC is still low as there is only Sub-MC in Malaysia was proposed to be formed at 1 Mont’ Kiara mixed-use stratified development. Quantitative method and descriptive analysis were used in this research. Result shows that the management body has the knowledge in forming limited common property in their strata scheme. However, the low number in forming limited common property might due to problems in the procedure. Therefore, common pool resource theory was applied to describe the benefit in forming the limited common property
Bridging topological and functional information in protein interaction networks by short loops profiling
Protein-protein interaction networks (PPINs) have been employed to identify potential novel interconnections between proteins as well as crucial cellular functions. In this study we identify fundamental principles of PPIN topologies by analysing network motifs of short loops, which are small cyclic interactions of between 3 and 6 proteins. We compared 30 PPINs with corresponding randomised null models and examined the occurrence of common biological functions in loops extracted from a cross-validated high-confidence dataset of 622 human protein complexes. We demonstrate that loops are an intrinsic feature of PPINs and that specific cell functions are predominantly performed by loops of different lengths. Topologically, we find that loops are strongly related to the accuracy of PPINs and define a core of interactions with high resilience. The identification of this core and the analysis of loop composition are promising tools to assess PPIN quality and to uncover possible biases from experimental detection methods. More than 96% of loops share at least one biological function, with enrichment of cellular functions related to mRNA metabolic processing and the cell cycle.
