Substance Use Disorder: Parent Support Group

    Get PDF
The focus of this 14-week capstone project revolved around program development and implementation of a parent support group through Wedgwood Christian Services for parents who are raising adolescents who were struggling with substance use disorder (SUD). Very little is known regarding interventions available to support affected parents to cope with the high stress that comes with navigating the waters of raising a teenager with SUD. The purpose of this project was to improve mental health, family dynamics, and overall quality of life for the affected parents who attended the support group once a week for four weeks. Evidence of stress reduction, improved mental health, and strengthened parent and teenager relationships were obtained through the Parent Stress Scale and a self-created feedback survey. Results indicated that stress levels were reduced after the four-week trial and parents reported increased levels of confidence while navigating their future relationship with their teenager

The article presents the social and educational situ- ation of Burundian children with psychological and physical disabilities. The aim of the presented research is to answer the question of what features dominate in the perception of intelligent people by Burundian children and to look at how the social and educational status of children with disabili- ties is positioned in this context. The results of the research carried out among Burundian youth from the Integrated Primary School in Bujumbura and among social activists working in the environment of children with disabilities and at risk of social exclusion were subject to qualitative analysis. The analysis of the research showed that there are four main characteristics that the pupils describe as intelligent: serious, hard-working, brave and polite. Analiza badań wykazała istnienie czterech głównych cech, którymi uczniowie opisują osobę inteligentną: poważna, pracowita, dzielna i grzeczna

Fuzzy querying with the use of interval-valued fuzzy sets

    Get PDF
The paper deals with flexible queries in relational databases. Conditions included in queries are modeled with the use of interval-valued fuzzy sets. Each value returned by a query is associated with a subinterval of [0,1] which expresses a membership degree. The bounds of membership intervals have been determined for different operations of relational algebra and different SQL operators

On multi-subjectivity in linguistic summarization of relational databases

We focus on one of the most powerful computing methods for natural-language-driven representation of data, i.e. on Yager’s concept of a linguistic summary of a relational database (1982). In particular, we introduce an original extension of that concept: new forms of linguistic summaries. The new forms are named Multi-Subject linguistic summaries, because they are constructed to handle more than one set of subjects, represented by related sets of records/objects collected in a database, like ”cars, bicycles and motorbikes” (within vehicles), ”male and female” (within people), e.g. More boys than girls play football well. Thanks to that, the generated linguistic summaries – quasi-natural language sentences – are more interesting and human-oriented. Moreover, they can be applied together with the classic forms od summaries, to enrich naturality of comments/ descriptions generated. Apart from traditional interpretions linguistic summaries in termsof fuzzy logic, we also introduce some higher-order fuzzy logic methods, to extend possibilities of representing too complex or too ill-defined linguistic terms used in generated messages. The new methods are applied to a computer system that generates natural language description of numeric data, that makes them possible to be clearly presented to an end-user

Comparative analysis of methods for testing web applications

    Get PDF
The aim of the study was to conduct a comparative analysis of testing approaches for web applications in the two most popular architectures: monolithic and microservices. For the purpose of the study, the server-side of the application (backend) was implemented twice with identical functionalities for each of these architectures, allowing for a precise comparison of testing differences for the same program capabilities. The results revealed that the monolithic application was easier and faster to test. However, the microservices architecture requires more energy spent on testing, but allows better scalability and elasticity for independent teams to develop applications. Each of the examined architectures certainly has its own advantages and drawbacks. Furthermore, the conducted research indicates that unit tests require significantly less time to execute. However, when it comes to comprehensive code analysis, integration tests outperform unit tests by covering a substantial portion of the application's code with a single test. Nonetheless, the best comprehensive code analysis and protection against unwanted functional changes can be achieved by employing all known types of tests

Personality and subjective assessment of body weight of tennis players

Aim. The aim of the study was to check the relationship between individual personality traits and the subjective assessment of the weight of tennis players. Material and methods. Personality assessment was performed using the NEO-FFI questionnaire, subjective assessment of body weight was made using a questionnaire. 15 tennis players aged 19.13 years ± 2.97 participated in the tests. Results. The research showed that all tennis players are characterized by low levels of neuroticism, average level of extraversion, average level of openness to experience, low level of agreeableness and high level of conscientiousness. The study showed the lack of connection between the level of neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness and conscientiousness and the subjective assessment of the weight of tennis players. Conclusions. Tennis players are a very uniform group in terms of personality, which may indicate the specificity of the discipline, which in a specific way affects the formation of personality. The lack of connection between personality and body weight may result from a small sample of the tested female players

Przyczynek do studium nad początkami niedzielnego lekcjonarza do celebracji eucharystycznej w Rzymie

There are no extant sources indicating the specific scriptures read at liturgical Sunday gatherings of the first Christians in Rome. The nascent church apparently used the Septuaginta for that purpose. At the turn of the 1st and 2nd centuries, the practice of reading from the corpus Paulinum was established. Then, when Marcion of Asia Minor was staying in Rome, the practice of the reading of Pauline epistles was introduced – alongside the reading of the shorter version of the Gospel of St. Luke. This practice, however, was renounced by Christians. It was the Syrian Justin Martyr who, in his Apologia I, proclaimed the canon of Sunday Eucharist readings, which comprised readings from the books of the prophets or Memoirs of the Apostles. The choice of the readings was apparently up to the person conducting the liturgy. Podczas obecności w Rzymie Marcjona, pochodzącego z Azji Mniejszej, pojawia się praktyka czytania listów Pawłowych i okrojonej wersji Ewangelii według św. Łukasza. Ta praktyka zostaje odrzucona przez chrześcijan. To Justyn Męczennik, pochodzenia syryjskiego, odnotowuje w swojej Apologii I formę proklamowania lektury podczas niedzielnej Eucharystii. Jest wtedy czytana jedna lektura z pism prorockich lub pamiętników apostolskich. Prawdopodobnie to przewodniczący liturgii dokonywał wyboru odczytywanego fragmentu pism.
