With the intention of defining a theoretical framework to promote a training design that motivates the professional development of entrepreneurs, the aim is to validate the theoretical referents from a practical perspective. Accordingly, this study presents a meta-analysis of literature contributions that from the perspective of 9 experts with a profile of consolidated entrepreneurs have been representative in their work activity. Specifically, a review of 107 materials contributed by these experts in the field of professional guidance for entrepreneurship was carried out. Once this material was coded and classified, it was analyzed to what extent these contributions would be recommendable for consolidated entrepreneurs, in transition or potential, using indicators intentionally selected according to structural criteria representative of the study. The proposed methodological design is mixed according to criteria and indicators of quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results establish that the greatest number of documents used come from articles of journals and databases such as ISOC, Trobes Plus and Dialnet, sources therefore of which the considered experts are nourished. At the same time, it is concluded that the largest number of outstanding documents is of an international nature whose research methodology is qualitative or mixed in nature. The meta-analysis carried out was indispensable as a bridge between research and experts in entrepreneurship, which helped to complement and validate the theoretical framework proposed, as well as to detect conceptual gaps integrating professional practice, useful in future research and understood as step sine qua non so that current scientific research has a necessary social impact.

Background: Trinitrobenzenesulphonic acid (TNBS) induced rat colitis is one of the most widely used models of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a condition whose aetiology and pathophysiology are incompletely understood. We have characterized this model at the genomic level using a longitudinal approach. Six control rats were compared with colitic animals at 2, 5, 7 and 14 days after TNBS administration (n = 3). The Affymetrix Rat Expression Array 230 2.0 system was used. Results: TNBS-induced colitis had a profound impact on the gene expression profile, which was maximal 5 and 7 days post-induction. Most genes were affected at more than one time point. They were related to a number of biological functions, not only inflammation/immunity but also transport, metabolism, signal transduction, tissue remodeling and angiogenesis. Gene changes generally correlated with the severity of colitis. The results were successfully validated in a subset of genes by real-time PCR. Conclusion: The TNBS model of rat colitis has been described in detail at the transcriptome level. The changes observed correlate with pathophysiological disturbances such as tissue remodelling and alterations in ion transport, which are characteristic of both this model and IBD.This study was supported by the Instituto de Investigación Carlos III (PI051651, PI051625), the Spanish Junta de Andalucía (ARM/LD 43035), the Ministry of Industry, and Fundación Genoma España

The role of ultrasound as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool in experimental animal models of stroke: A review

Ultrasound is a noninvasive technique that provides real-time imaging with excellent resolution, and several studies demonstrated the potential of ultrasound in acute ischemic stroke monitoring. However, only a few studies were performed using animal models, of which many showed ultrasound to be a safe and effective tool also in therapeutic applications. The full potential of ultrasound application in experimental stroke is yet to be explored to further determine the limitations of this technique and to ensure the accuracy of translational research. This review covers the current status of ultrasound applied to monitoring and treatment in experimental animal models of stroke and examines the safety, limitations, and future perspectives. This research was funded by the Carlos III Health Institute Health Care Research Fund grant number FIS PI16/01052 and cofunded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)–Miguel Servet (CP15/00069, CPII20/00002 to María Gutiérrez–Fernández; CP20/00024 to Laura Otero–Ortega) and predoctoral fellowship (FI17/00188 to Mari Carmen Gómez–de Frutos, FI18/00026 to Fernando Laso–García) and the INVICTUS PLUS Spanish Network (RD16/0019/0005) of the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII)

Dendritic cell deficiencies persist seven months after SARS-CoV-2 infection

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (SARS-CoV)-2 infection induces an exacerbated inflammation driven by innate immunity components. Dendritic cells (DCs) play a key role in the defense against viral infections, for instance plasmacytoid DCs (pDCs), have the capacity to produce vast amounts of interferon-alpha (IFN-α). In COVID-19 there is a deficit in DC numbers and IFN-α production, which has been associated with disease severity. In this work, we described that in addition to the DC deficiency, several DC activation and homing markers were altered in acute COVID-19 patients, which were associated with multiple inflammatory markers. Remarkably, previously hospitalized and nonhospitalized patients remained with decreased numbers of CD1c+ myeloid DCs and pDCs seven months after SARS-CoV-2 infection. Moreover, the expression of DC markers such as CD86 and CD4 were only restored in previously nonhospitalized patients, while no restoration of integrin β7 and indoleamine 2,3-dyoxigenase (IDO) levels were observed. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the immunological sequelae of COVID-19
