HANDLING OF COAL DUST AT COAL HANDLING FACILITY IN COAL POWER PLANT USING SOFT SYSTEM METHODOLOGY (SSM) APPROACH
Currently, many coal-fired powers plants are built to supply electrical energy needs in Indonesia due to relatively inexpensive raw materials and abundant in Indonesia. Handling of coal is mostly done at the power plant using coal handling facilities consisting of ship unloaders, conveyor belts, stock piles, silos or bunkers. The problem that arises in the coal handling facility is dust from coal that fells or hovers in the air so that it can interfere with the environment and health both for workers in the Coal Power and residents around the Coal Power. The purpose of writing this paper is to eliminate the spread of coal dust that arises due to coal handling equipment that is not precise and imperfect. The method used is the Soft System Methodology (SSM), which is a systematic approach used to analyze and solve problems in complex and messy situations. This paper examines the benefits of applying SSM to knowledge management issues in handling coal dust at a power plant. Improvement is done by upgrading coal handling equipment (ship unloader, conveyor belt, stock pile) with the addition of dust suppression, proper sealing system, dust bag, and training to operators on the impact and handling of coal dust and coal handling equipment maintenance, so resulting in a significant decrease in the spread of coal dust, creating a working environment and the environment becomes clean, healthy and safe
Perancangan Sistem untuk Minimasi Limbah B3 di PT. XYZ Menggunakan Pendekatan SSM (Soft System Methodology)
PT. XYZ is a company that produces pharmaceutical products for livestock. Most of the raw materials for veterinary drugs consist of B3 powder (toxic and hazardous materials). Waste from the production process is unavoidable, one of the types of waste produced by PT. XYZ is B3 powder wastes. According to the Environmental Service (DLH) B3 waste cannot be directly discharged into the environment, therefore PT. XYZ uses 3rd party services in processing B3 waste disposal. PT. XYZ produces powdered B3 waste at an average of 267.12 kg/month, the cost that must be incurred by the company to manage B3 waste and the value of loss of raw materials is Rp. 28,094,703.70/year. This study aims to design a system for the minimization of B3 waste by using a Soft System Methodology (SSM) approach. Drug forecasting and supply model design using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Continuous Review (r, q) to minimize total supply cost
The Mentawai Islands Regency Regional General Hospital faces a significant challenge with an 83% overstock of Medical Consumables, leading to increased inventory costs and potential damage and expiration of items. This exceeds the 1% pharmaceutical drug storage standards the Ministry of Health set. This study aims to optimize demand forecasting and minimize total inventory costs through a two-stage process. Firstly, demand forecasting is conducted using Artificial Neural Network (ANN), predicting a future demand of 10,036 units of Medical Consumables. Subsequently, the optimal order quantity and reorder points are calculated using the continuous review (r, Q) approach. The results reveal the optimal order quantities and reorder points for four types of Medical Consumables. This research introduces a novel approach by employing ANN for demand forecasting, then calculating optimal order quantities and reorder points using continuous review (r, Q). The cost components considered in the inventory cost calculation include purchasing cost, holding cost, shortage cost, order cost, outdating cost, and inspection cost. The designed forecasting models aim to enhance inventory management efficiency, optimize cost control, and improve patient services. The limitation of this research is that it only used five types of consumable medical materials to carry out this research due to limited data access. It is hoped that future research can use other types of drugs as well as a periodic review and forecasting approach using GA
PERANCANGAN MODEL PERSEDIAAN BAHAN BAKU UBI UNGU PADA PRODUKSI KERIPIK UBI UNGU DENGAN METODE SIMULASI SISTEM DINAMIS
Purple Sweet Potato is one of agricultural product that has been cultivated in Indonesia with high productivity. One of the processed products from purple sweet potatoes is snacks. It is the part of Fast Moving Consumer Good (FMCG) sector. The intense competition between snack industry players involves in the fluctuating demand on purple sweet potatoes chips. The uncertain demand for purple sweet potatoes chips causes a mismatch between supply of purple sweet potatoes and the actual needs. Therefore, this study was conducted to handle fluctuating demands by using dynamic system simulations to get maximum profit. Problem solving was done through two stages, namely designing optimal forecasting models and designing inventory models using dynamic system simulations. The dynamic system model consisted of two sub-models, namely the inventory sub-model and inventory costs. Inventory sub-models were analyzed based on the demand for the amount of production of purple sweet potato chips and purple sweet potato supply, using four scenarios, where scenario 1 was done without policy changes, scenario 2 used inventory control, scenario 3 used probabilistic model P and scenario 4 performed a combination of demand forecast adjustment and probabilistic model P. The simulation results in 28 periods produced different benefits from each scenario. The highest profit was obtained when planning production with scenario 4, which was a combination of forecasting method with P model with a service level of 90%, with a profit of Rp 195,288,659,301 ± 20,447,754,235. Scenario 4 can produced the highest profit because it could plan raw material optimally so that there were no high savings costs.
