Application Security Verification Standard Compliance Analysis of a Low Code Development Platform
Low-code development platforms (LCDPs) are software development platforms that use artificial intelligence to help automate simple and routine tasks and make the software development process faster. By 2024, 60% of application development expect to be done using these platforms. Even though these platforms are gaining popularity, they have not been popular research topics, and their security features have not been assessed. One way to conduct such an assessment is by using Application Security Verification Standard (ASVS).
ASVS is a community-driven security standard for web applications and services. ASVS is made of three requirement levels, and the security controls become more strict when moved up. ASVS is designed to give organizations a tool to develop and
maintain more secure applications.
One example of an LCDP is OutSystems, which is said to be “designed for the developers, by the developers”. OutSystems belongs to the Leader category in the 2021 release of Gartner® Magic QuadrantTM for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms. In this thesis, we will conduct a first of its kind compliance analysis between OutSystems and ASVS levels 1 and 2 to find out if and how compliant OutSystems is with the standard. This kind of compliance analysis has not been done before. Based on our analysis, we will do a “lessons learned” and write a guideline on how to evaluate LCDPs’ security features in the future.
The results themselves show that OutSystems, for the most part, is compliant with ASVS. The biggest deficiencies in OutSystems are with authentication and input validation. We show that the deficiencies with authentication are trivial to fix, but meeting the requirements with the input validation requires some work.
From the assessment, we learned that assessing LCDPs is not completely similar to a traditional security assessment. We learned that some functionalities are pre-made, and the developer can not customise them. We found that it is easier to evaluate first if the platform meets the requirement. If not, then see if the developer can do something about it
Temporal perspective and its formal background: An explanation for aspectual synonymy between simple and analytic past tenses in Mari
This paper examines and explains perspective-based temporal variation between simple and analytic past tenses in Mari narration. In current research, the analytic past tenses are presented as aspectually synonymous with the simple past tense 2, implicating that there is no functional distinction between these morphologically very dissimilar operators. To overcome the apparent shortages of the purely aspectual approach, this paper dismantles the tenses into their morphosemantic ingredients and explains their exact functions by their form, giving hence also new light to the development of the items. As will be shown, the reason for tense variation is the position of perspective time, a temporal vantage point from which an event is seen. The simple past tense 2 sets the perspective time outside of the story line, while the analytic tenses locate it inside the narrative world, which affects the temporal and non-temporal structure of the discourse. Crucially, the concept of perspective is inherently built in the structure of the tenses: I will argue, that the “auxiliary” of the analytic tenses is de facto a deictic particle developed for temporal manipulation of events, and its application in anaphoric narration creates internal complexity to the story. The “pastness” of the simple past tense 2, in contrast, is anaphoric by nature, which makes narrations structured with it temporally one-dimensional
At present indoor tethering of dairy cows is still common but is not predicted to take part of modern dairy production. When conducting scientific studies of cattle it is generally necessary to tether the animals to maintain a controlled environment. Studies confirm that tethering and confinements of cattle severely affects the development of stereotypies in cattle. The feeding regime and feeding level have an immense affect on the stereotypi level in cattle.
The aim of this experiment was to study dairy heifers that had never been tethered before the start of the experiment, to evaluate the affect of tethering on the development of stereotypies and the impact of the feeding regime on the behavior of the animals.
Sixteen dairy heifers were tethered in a tie stall and divided in two groups with different treatments. Heifers in treatment E were fed restrictedly with silage and treatment EH was fed with the same amount of silage but also straw ad libitum. The behavior of the animals was studied in one-minute intervals, twice a week for eight hours a day, for five weeks. The variables used were "standing", "lying","ruminating", "stereotypies", "licking salt", "social", "eating", "drinking", "urinating","excremented faeces" and "abnormal behavioral".
The results show that all the heifers were affected of the tethering. They all changed their standing and lying behavior as the study proceeded and there was a significant difference between the treatments. The heifers in treatment EH ate and ruminated more than the heifers in treatment E.
The animals in treatment E were restless which could be shown by a disturbed behavior, a search for feed and an extreme interest of licking salt. The heifers in treatment EH showed some disturbed behavior but with a very low frequency.
The conclusions that can be drawn from this study are that the developments of stereotypies in heifers are negatively affected by tethering and straw ad libitum can act preventable.
slumpmässigt i två grupper.
intervaller i åtta timmar per dag, under två dagar i veckan, i totalt fem veckor.
inredning.
Djuren i de olika behandlingarna uppvisade signifikanta skillnader i sitt beteende. Djuren i

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has documented the effect of rewriting letters in clear and concise language, and training the personnel in doing so. Every year, we at The Norwegian Public Roads Administration send out millions of letters to the Norwegian people. We realized that many of those receiving a letter simply did not understand its content, or what to do with the information provided in it. They needed help to understand, and contacted us. This resulted in us having an unnecessarily high number of cases where we responded to simple questions that the letters should have provided the answers for. What happened once we rewrote 10 of our standard letters and retrained our personnel? And what happened to the views of our 6,500 employees in the course of the plain language project? Over a period of time, The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has carried out four separate evaluations that show plain language works
Enhancement of the use of wood fuels in heat and power production in integrated pulp and paper mills
The drying of moist biofuels such as wood-based biomasses should be as effluent-free and as energy-efficient as possible in order to ensure the safe and economical operation of industrial CHP plants. This work presents a multistage drying system (MSDS), which provides significant benefits in comparison with earlier conventional single dryer systems. This new application is installed most promisingly in integrated pulp and paper mills. The MSDS, which simultaneously uses secondary process energy, as well as backpressure and extraction steam as the drying energy, enables a smaller volume flow of drying air than single dryer systems. Depending on the structure of the system, up to 100 % of the exhaust drying air can be utilized as combustion air. The use of MSDSs enables an increase in CHP plant boiler capacity, which in turn boosts the production of power and heat in combined heat and power (CHP) plants. Additionally, the improvement in CHP can be achieved with reduced organic emissions from moist biomass drying. Also, the amount of unburned organic compounds and of CO in flue gases from combustion is reduced as a result of the improved quality of the biofuels. When compared to direct steam drying, the MSDS also better minimizes, or even eliminates, the formation of organically loaded condensates in the drying operation.reviewe
Halusin tutkimuksellani mahdollistaa lapsia tuottamaan tieteellistä tietoa, sillä yksinäisyyttä on Suomessa tutkittu varsin vähän lasten näkökulmasta.
Sadutus on narratiivinen menetelmä, jonka avulla saadaan esiin lasten omat ajatukset.
Experiences in Collecting 360° Video Data and Collaborating Remotely in Virtual Reality
This paper reports on a pilot project called Remote Research and Collaboration Using VR and 360° Video (RReCo) that was carried out in late Spring 2021 at the University of Oulu, Finland. The project explored new ways of collecting, viewing and analysing video data for the purposes of engaging in remote, collaborative research on social interaction and activity. Here we share our experiences in collecting different types of video data, especially 360°, and relate those to our user experiences in analysing the data together in virtual reality. Our remote multisite data sessions were organised using software for immersive qualitative analytics, virtual reality and live streaming. In this paper, we also reflect on the similarities and differences between our data sets, especially with view to how awareness of different technical setups may help in making informed choices, and thereby increase the reliability of research on social interaction
pocket parks i staden.
Sverige, Danmark, England, Australien, Spanien,
The pocket park as a concept has become increasingly
popular to use in the same sense that modern
urban development and densification of the city center,
this made it interesting to investigate the meaning
of the term. The concept of pocket park is in no doubt
very popular. Large cities like New York, London and
Copenhagen have put pocket parks into its city planning
and development programs. In Sweden it is still
a relatively unknown concept. In the current situation,
there is no generally accepted description of how a
pocket park should be designed, including size and
what elements are a part of it.
We want to explore what the term pocket park means
and how beautiful and functional pocket parks can
be built in the future. We aim to identify and break
down the concept of pocket park and examine which
elements and features that are more significant than
others.
The process starts with a literature review, which will
then be the basis for an analysis that highlights what
the essential components and functions are for a
pocket park. The analysis will be provided in the form
of a matrix of 28 pocket parks from countries Sweden,
Denmark, England, Australia, Spain, France and
the United States of America. The goal of the analysis
is to provide a clear comparison of pocket parks, thereby
identifying distinctive patterns and trends, often
occurring components, size, location etc.
The conclusion is presented in the form of a checklist
that is based on results from the analysis along with
supporting research. The checklist is presented in the
following manner:
• Necessary components and functions of a
pocket park
• Appropriate components and functions of a
pocket park
• Unnecessary components and functions of a
pocket park
• Components and functions of a pocket park to be
Avoided
A design proposal of a pocket park is presented
based on the conclusions and findings from the literature
review and analysis.
Our hope is that this research can be used as a tool
by municipalities and industry professionals when
planning and designing a pocket park
