Extremal states for photon number and quadratures as gauges for nonclassicality
Rotated quadratures carry the phase-dependent information of the
electromagnetic field, so they are somehow conjugate to the photon number. We
analyze this noncanonical pair, finding an exact uncertatinty relation, as well
as a couple of weaker inequalities obtained by relaxing some restrictions of
the problem. We also find the intelligent states saturating that relation and
complete their characterization by considering extra constraints on the
second-order moments of the variables involved. Using these moments, we
construct performance measures tailored to diagnose photon-added and
Schr\"odinger catlike states, among others.Comment: 6 pages, 4 color figures. Comments welcome
Didactic strategies in creativity based on experiental learning
de nuevos productosOn this educational experience, it is used experiential learning as a didactic strategy related
with the provocation, focus and ideas concepts proposed in Lateral Thinking (De Bono,
1994); so as referred in the SCAMPER technique. Suggesting roles related to both teacher
and student, so as the contents and contexts required (Medina and Salvador, 2002). The
results obtained indicate that teaching and learning can be done easier; in terms of selfconstruction
of creative content, examples related to the student’s personal perspective,
identification of the need of other concepts and inspection of the own creative capacities. It
also allows a better transfer to the other management dominion where the creativity is
required. The applications were done with college students from business management,
specifically on the subject of development of creative ideas for new product
Analysis of the effect of mobile terminal speed on WLAN/3G vertical handovers
Proceedings of IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, GLOBECOM '06, San Francisco, California, 27 november - 1 december, 2006.WLAN hot-spots are becoming widely spread. This, combined with the availability of new multi-mode terminals integrating heterogeneous technologies, opens new business opportunities for mobile operators. Scenarios in which 3G coverage is complemented by WLAN deployments are becoming available. Thus, true all-IP based networks are ready to offer a new variety
of services across heterogeneous access. However, to achieve this, some aspects still need to be analyzed. In particular, the effect of the terminal speed on the detection and selection process of the preferred access network is not yet well understood. In
fact, efficiency of vertical handovers depends on the appropriate configuration of mobile devices. In this paper we present a
simulation study of handover performance between 3G and WLAN access networks showing the impact of mobile users’ speed. The mobile devices are based on the IEEE 802.21 cross
layer architecture and use WLAN signal level thresholds as handover criteria. A novel algorithm to dynamically adjust terminals’ configuration is presented.Publicad
Comparison of Inheritance Evaluation Algorithms for Express Edition 3.
Information exchanged between computer applications is difficult, thus the need for data exchange standards. The ISO STEP project defines data exchange standards using the EXPRESS language, which supports inheritance. Currently there are two algorithms used to evaluate an inheritance hierarchy: the Test and Generate algorithms. In this thesis, enhancements are made to both algorithms to support the Total Over Constraint, which is proposed for the third edition of EXPRESS. A formal algorithm is derived for the Test algorithm. The two enhanced algorithms are compared and shown to be result equivalent. However, it is shown that the Test algorithm is the more efficient of the two
Design and Experimental Evaluation of a Route Optimisation Solution for NEMO
An important requirement for Internet protocol (IP)
networks to achieve the aim of ubiquitous connectivity is network
mobility (NEMO). With NEMO support we can provide Internet
access from mobile platforms, such as public transportation vehicles,
to normal nodes that do not need to implement any special
mobility protocol. The NEMO basic support protocol has been
proposed in the IETF as a first solution to this problem, but this
solution has severe performance limitations. This paper presents
MIRON: Mobile IPv6 route optimization for NEMO, an approach
to the problem of NEMO support that overcomes the limitations
of the basic solution by combining two different modes of operation:
a Proxy-MR and an address delegation with built-in routing
mechanisms. This paper describes the design and rationale of the
solution, with an experimental validation and performance evaluation
based on an implementation.Publicad
Orbital angular momentum from marginals of quadrature distributions
We set forth a method to analyze the orbital angular momentum of a light
field. Instead of using the canonical formalism for the conjugate pair
angle-angular momentum, we model this latter variable by the superposition of
two independent harmonic oscillators along two orthogonal axes. By describing
each oscillator by a standard Wigner function, we derive, via a consistent
change of variables, a comprehensive picture of the orbital angular momentum.
We compare with previous approaches and show how this method works in some
relevant examples.Comment: 7 pages, 2 color figure
