    Learning Surrogate Models of Document Image Quality Metrics for Automated Document Image Processing

    Computation of document image quality metrics often depends upon the availability of a ground truth image corresponding to the document. This limits the applicability of quality metrics in applications such as hyperparameter optimization of image processing algorithms that operate on-the-fly on unseen documents. This work proposes the use of surrogate models to learn the behavior of a given document quality metric on existing datasets where ground truth images are available. The trained surrogate model can later be used to predict the metric value on previously unseen document images without requiring access to ground truth images. The surrogate model is empirically evaluated on the Document Image Binarization Competition (DIBCO) and the Handwritten Document Image Binarization Competition (H-DIBCO) datasets

    Nutraceutical Analysis of Marticaria recutita (Chamomile) Dried Leaves and Flower Powder and Comparison between Them

    Chamomile is known as German Chamomile (Marticaria recutita) and Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) a very famous daisy plant. The work mainly focuses on the nutraceuticals potential of Chamomile leaf and flower of this plant. The nutrient contains of the leaf and flower power was determined by various methods. The phytochemicals screening of the leaf and flower aqueous extract was performed by the different procedure. Leaf of this plant is rich in carbohydrate, protein, fat and also rich in vitamin C, iron, zinc and calcium. Whereas flower is rich in moisture and fiber as compared to leaf. The aqueous extract of leaf of Chamomile showed the presence of steroids, terpenoids, flavonoids, tannins and saponins and flower were lacked in alkaloids, saponins, gelatin and phenolic compounds. The results record that leaf and flowers powder contains different types of nutrients and phytochmicals in it. Chamomile is rich in different bioactive compounds, antioxidant and phytochemicals; carries many pharmacological and traditional properties. Leaves, flowers and stems of Chamomile are used as anti-oxidant, analgesic, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-septic, anti-diabetic, anti-proliferative, anti-bacterial activities and many more diseases.     Image retrieval system is an effective and efficient tool for managing large image databases. A content based image retrieval system allows the user to present a query image in order to retrieve images stored in the database according to their similarity to the query image .In this paper content based image retrieval method is used as diagnosis aid in medical fields. The main objectives of this paper is to reduce the noise from an medical image with the use of Bayesian algorithm .Various algorithm are define in CBIR but we can use Bayesian algorithm to reduce the noise from an image . Bayesian algorithm provide the feedback and improve the performance of an image retrieval by using the resultant MSE(mean square error) and PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio)

    Clinical profile of patients with post-caesarean wound infection: experience of Patan Hospital, Nepal

    Introduction: Would infection following caesarean delivery adds physical, psychological, and health burden to individual and health care system. This hospital based study aim to determine the rate of infection, the risk factors, pathogens and antibiotic sensitivity. Method: A prospective study was carried out to analyze the wound infection in women following caesarean delivery in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Patan Hospital, Nepal, between January 2018 to December 2018. The study was approved from the institutional review committee. Clinicodemographic data during perinatal period of caesarean delivery were descriptive analyzed in relation to wound infection. Result: Wound infection occurred in 102 (3.1%)of 3285 caesarean section (of total 7131 deliveries during the study period. The caesarean SSI rate was 3.1%, all were incisional SSI (84 superficial and 18 deep) and there were no organ-space SSI. Majority (81.3%) SSI cases were detected in emergency LSCS. Coagulase Negative Staphylococci was the most common organism isolated from wound swab. Routine postoperative antibiotics did not have a major impact in reducing wound infection rate. Multiple per vaginal examinations, prolonged rupture of membrane and staples for skin closure were more commonly associated with SSI. Conclusion: Reduction in caesarean rate is the major key factor for decreasing the post caesarean wound infection. Protocol should be developed and strictly implemented by all the health care professionals in order to minimize and prevent the infection rate after caesarean section.     Detection of Improperly Worn Face Masks using Deep Learning – A Preventive Measure Against the Spread of COVID-19

    Coronavirus disease 2019 has had a pressing impact on people all around the world. Ceasing the spread of this infectious disease is the urgent need of the hour. A vital method of protection against the virus is wearing masks in public areas. Not merely wearing masks but wearing masks properly can ensure that the respiratory droplets do not get transmitted to other people. In this paper, we have proposed a deep learning-based model, which can be used to detect people who are not wearing their face masks properly. A convolutional neural network model based on the concept of transfer learning is trained on a self-made dataset of images and implemented with light-weighted neural network called MobileNetV2 for mobile architectures. OpenCV is used with Caffe framework to detect faces in an input frame which are further forwarded to our trained convolutional neural network for classification. The method has been implemented on various input images and classification results have been obtained for the same. The experimental results show that the proposed model achieves a testing accuracy and training accuracy of 93.58% and 92.27% respectively. Optimal results with high confidence scores and correct classification have also been achieved when the proposed model was tested on individual input images

It is often misdiagnosed as Bartholin cyst as unilateral swelling of vulva in women of reproductive age group is commonly a bartholin cyst or abscess. We describe a case of leiomyoma that clinically mimicked bartholin duct cyst. Identification of leiomyoma or leiomyosarcoma is necessary because of risk of recurrence, need of radiation and or chemotherapy in addition to surgical excision whereas standard treatment for bartholin cyst is marsuplisation

    Rapid development of nanotechnology has revolutionsed various areas of conventional food science and food industry. The novel properties of nanoparticles (NPs) have led to increasing application of nanotechnology in food industry. Nanofood market have a variety of products like the creamy ice-cream, drinks with no fat, enhanced flavour with nutrients and better textured, coloured and fresh looking food. Continuous monitoring for food spoilage or contamination is possible too. Nanotechnology has transformed the food industries which claim health benefits along with better taste. With the increasing use of NPs especially in food products, where humans are in close contact of the engineered nanomaterials (NMs), it is important to ensure safety before use. Bio-nano interactions often result in novel reaction and formation of products leading to toxicity. NPs mediated toxicity mainly includes inflammation, oxidative damage and genotoxicity. Prolong use of these particles can cause detrimental effects on health. Presently, due to lack of appropriate guidelines and regulations for food nanotechnology there are uncertainties regarding risk identification. Hence, it is essential to evaluate the consequences of this technology in terms of general public and occupational health risks associated with the manufacture, use and disposal of NMs, before instigating the same in day to day use

    Diabetes Mellitus is a syndrome of disordered metabolism, due to a combination of hereditary and environmental causes, resulting in abnormally high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia), caused by defects in either insulin secretion or insulin action in the body. Diabetes epidemic is underway. Currently available therapeutic options for non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus such as dietary modification, oral hypoglycemics and insulin have a lot potentials to cure diabetes. Now-a-days natural products and herbal medicines have been recommended for the treatment of diabetes. The present paper is an attempt to list of the plants and their preparations used for cure of diabetes with Ethnomedicinal backgrounds with the list of plants experimental or clinically listed from Rajasthan (arid zone) with antidiabetic potentials. The review also include the various preparations which can safely used to cure diabetes in the form of daily diet as plant potentials for future generations. The studies are a move towards awareness towards changing our diet system with potential input of Ethnomedicinal knowledge to cure the incidence of diabetes
