Conversational Implicature in Sentilan Sentilun Talk Show

Talk shows such as Sentilan Sentilun are quite popular in Indonesian television. These talk show are quite interesting to study because they are not only involving many participants, but also requiring the settings in which politeness and implicature needed to be used to keep the communication flows smoothly. This paper is a pragmatic study that aims at investigating conversational implicature that hosts and the guests of Sentilan Sentilun talk show operate within their utterances along with the possible implications that lie behind the implicature. The data are analyzed based on cooperative principle by violating Gricean maxims, that are specifically maxim of quality, quantity and relevance. Findings show that there are 51 utterances containing conversational implicature. The findings show that there are four types of violated maxims that potentially caused conversational implicature. The dominant type is maxim of relation(56.87 %). The reason why it becomes the dominant type is because the host and the guests wanted to create humors in order to flutter someone or certain topics. The hosts and the guests conveyed an implicit meaning when giving statement or opinion or information and answering the question in their discussion based on the truth condition or facts in the talk show

HUBUNGAN ANEMIA DALAM KEHAMILAN DENGAN KEJADIAN PERDARAHAN POSTPARTUM PRIMER di RSUD PUTRI HIJAU MEDAN PERIODE JANUARI 2020-JANUARI 2021

            This study aims to determine the relationship between anemia in pregnancy and the incidence of primary postpartum hemorrhage at Putri Hijau Hospital, Medan for the period January 2020 - January 2021. The research method used is an analytic case-control approach. Data were taken from the Register and Patient Medical Records. The population in this study was 447 mothers who gave birth during January 2020 – January 2021. The number of case samples and control samples was made in a 1:1 ratio by following the number of case samples that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Bivariate analysis using the Chi Square test found the results: p = 0.000 (p <α, = 0.05), then Ho was rejected, which means that there is a relationship between Anemia in Pregnancy and Primary Postpartum Bleeding Incidence at Putri Hijau Hospital Medan. The strength of the relationship between the two variables is seen based on the contingency coefficient, which is 0.631 which means the strength of the relationship is strong. Then the results of the Odds Ratio (OR) obtained OR = 105 [95% CI 17.8 - 618.7] which means that the range of 17.8 - 618.7 does not exceed the value of 1, so mothers giving birth with anemia in their pregnancy are likely to have primary postpartum hemorrhage. 105 times greater than women who gave birth without anemia in their pregnancy. Based on the results of research and discussion on the relationship between anemia and the incidence of primary postpartum hemorrhage at the Putri Hijau Hospital, Medan for the January 2020 – January 2021 period, it is expected to increase regular health promotion regarding pregnancy and childbirth by involving the role of cadres in providing counseling and involving the role of husband/family in health. pregnant women to minimize the risk of anemia in pregnancy and primary postpartum hemorrhage

BUSINESS PERFORMANCE: BALANCED SCORECARD ANALYSIS FOR INDONESIA PUBLISHING HOUSE (IPH)

The study aimed to analyze the business performance of Indonesia Publishing House (IPH).  Descriptive method was used to explain the business performance using balanced scorecard (BSC) model.  There were 30 respondents who participated in this study. The findings showed that the four BSC perspectives (financial, customer, internal business process, and learning and growth) attained the level of good. The Importance Of End-User Analysis In New Information System Adapters: Lessons Learned From Practice

The implementation of Information System (IS) in new-IS adapters can remain unused even when they developed properly. The previous research shows that the unsuccessful IS utilization problem primarily related to behavioral issues rather than technical issues. The behavioral issues should be addressed in the stakeholder analysis, an activity in the inception phase of requirement engineering. End-users of an IS are one of the focuses in stakeholder analysis. We studied the correlation of the end-user analysis in new-IS adapters with the successfulness of IS utilization. We conducted a qualitative studied on 20 IS development projects. The findings show strong correlation of the end-user behavior and the IS adoption. We suggest the end-user analysis is necessary for the IS development project in new-IS adapters. We concluded that it is recommended to formally get the end-user commitment before starting the IS development process. Illocutionary Force in the Novel Darkest Hour by Cleo Virginia Andrews

One aim of this article is to show through concrete examples about how Illocutionary Force used in Novel Darkest Hour By Cleo Virginia Andrews. The research are to describe the six types of illocutionary force in Cleo Virginia Andrews\u27s Darkest Hour to derive the most dominant type of illocutionary force, to explain the meaning of illocutionary force and to analyze the implication of that dominant the six types of illocutionary force to the novel itself. This study applied descriptive qualitative method. They were taken randomly and found 108 the types of illocutionary force; Asserting (21,29 %), Promising (13,89 %), Excomunicating ( 12,04%), Exclaiming in pain (15,74 %), Inquiring (11,11 %), and Ordering (25,92%) occurs in the novel. It was found that the most dominant type of illocutionary force that is used in Cleo Virginia Andrews\u27s Darkest Hour is Ordering for expressing what the speaker wants (25,92%). This implies that the Ordering for expressing what the speaker wants play a great role in the novel. It means that wishes as expression of speaker\u27s desire or wants in order to expect it becomes a reality can be characteristic of the novel in case of applying order to express of Illocutionary Force within utterances

Impact of supplementation with beetroot juice (Beta vulgaris L) on levels of malondialdehyde and antioxidant status in athletes

Strenuous physical activity can increase lipid peroxidation, which is characterized by increased levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and decreased levels of antioxidants. It can drop the athlete's performance and health. It is possible to avoid or reduce lipid peroxidation through supplementation with antioxidants. Beetroot (Beta vulgaris L) produces different forms of natural antioxidants; however, its effectiveness still needs to be investigated. This research aimed to determine the impact of beetroot juice on the malondialdehyde concentration and antioxidant status during strenuous physical activity. The research used experimental (pre-test-post-test) using a control group. The researchers divided a total of 30 students who met the criteria into two groups (Experiment; n = 15; control; n = 15). The experimental group drank 250 mL of the juice 1 hour before training for four weeks. After the strenuous physical activity was carried out with a beep test, the researchers also checked the concentrations of MDA, TAC, and VO2max. The findings indicated a decrease in MDA concentration and an increase in TAC and VO2max to the training group that received 250 ml beet juice (p <0.05). The research concluded that beetroot juice administration during exercise could reduce malondialdehyde concentration and increase total antioxidant capacity and VO2max in athletes

The Analysis of Process in Selected Speeches of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono

One aim of this article is to show many kinds of speeches of process in speech. The example of speech is the speech of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The purpose of this journal is to find out types of processes, they are; material process, mental process, relational process, behavioral process, verbal process, and existential process. It was found that the types of processes in the five speeches of President Bambang Yudhoyono are 1387 verbs and classified the verb into 868 verbs as Material process (62.58%), 46 verbs as Mental process (3.31%), 130 verbs as Relational process (9.37%), 208 verbs as Behavioral process (15%), 25 verbs as Verbal process (1.80%), and 110 verbs as Existential process (7.94%). From the data, it could be known that the dominant process in the selected speech of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was Material process
