A Missão numa Perspectiva Antropológica

This article is a study about religious missions it discusses anthropological publications related to this theme, found within the analyses of various authors of the anthropology of religion. The author analyses academic publications from the middle of the last century to understand the relations between missionaries and anthropologists. The article relates how anthropologists view missions and gives a large theoretical revision about the anthropological interpretations of the missions.Este artigo apresenta um estudo sobre as missões religiosas discutindo as produções antropológicas referentes a este tema, presentes na análise de diversos autores da antropologia da religião. A autora faz uma análise das produções acadêmicas desde meados do século passado para compreender as relações travadas entre missionários e antropólogos. Relata como os antropólogos pensam as missões e faz uma farta revisão teórica sobre as interpretações antropológicas em torno das missões

Mujeres y conocimientos ancestrales en la Amazonia, Brasil.

En este artículo se discute la importancia de la mujer en la actividad productiva y en la producción de los respectivos conocimientos, en esta medida el material utilizado en este documento proviene de la experiencia a lo largo de años de investigación en la Amazonia Brasileña tanto entre indígenas como entre poblaciones caboclas, campesinas, cimarronas entre otros grupos sociales que viven en el medio rural. En este sentido se presenta una reflexión conceptual y una caracterización de la importancia de las mujeres amazónicas. Finalmente, se revela la centralidad de las mujeres en la producción del conocimiento ancestral.This article discusses the importance of women in the productive activity and the production of the respective knowledge, to this extent the material used in this document comes through years of research experience in the Brazilian Amazon among indigenous as populations caboclas, peasant, maroon among other social groups living in rural areas. In this sense is presented a conceptual reflection and characterization the importance of the amazon women. Finally, it is revealed the centrality of women in the production of the ancestral knowledge

Hemispheric reconfigurations in Northern Amazonia: The ‘Three Guianas’ amid regional change and Brazilian hegemony

Regional and hemispheric reconfigurations in Latin America and the Caribbean are increasingly mediated by Brazilian power, and the engagement of Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana with this emerging context is intriguing. They are tentatively moving away from a Caribbean region with which they are culturally contiguous, towards a South American continent in which they are geographically located. This is partly a reflection of the gradual opening up of the Northern Amazonian space that they share collectively, and also with Venezuela and Brazil. These processes are occurring as cause and effect of Brazil’s emergence as a regional–and even regionally hegemonic–power. With reference to wider debates on regionalism and hegemony, we analyse the uncertain consequences of these shifts

Trabalho e vida em terra estrangeira: O caso dos imigrantes brasileiros na Guiana Francesa

Although the migrations between the frontier countries of the Amazon related to the Pre-Colonial period, about which there are information on Indigenous displacements, contemporaneously they have adquired a new perspective. Influenced by issues of socioeconomic nature, a migratory flux from Brasil to French Guyana has persisted since the years of 1960, in a way that the states of the Brazilian North region - particularly Pará e Amapá - are the ones that send away labor, in general with low specialization, to work in this French Ultramarine Departament. Based in bibliographic material, data and doccuments produced in the field, this work has the aim to build undestandings about the Brazilian exodus to French Guyana, though they have to face adverse situations marked by discriminatory processes, diverse violences and desillusions. In spite of this, it can be verified that the dream of a better life will continue to inspire the emmigration in this part of the Amazon, even that the French authorities intensify the restrictions to this sociospatial movement in the future.Embora as migrações entre os países fronteiriços da Amazônia remontem ao período pré-colonial, sobre as quais há registro de deslocamentos de indígenas, contemporaneamente elas vêm adquirindo um novo sentido. Influenciado por questões de ordem socioeconômica, um fluxo migratório no sentido Brasil/Guiana Francesa persiste desde os anos de 1960, de modo que os estados da região norte brasileira - particularmente o Pará e o Amapá - vem fornecendo mão-de-obra, em geral pouco especializada, para trabalhar nesse Departamento Ultramarino Francês. A partir de material bibliográfico, dados e documentação produzidos em campo, este paper tem por finalidade discutir os entendimentos sobre o êxodo de brasileiros para a Guiana Francesa, ainda que eles tenham de enfrentar situações adversas, marcadas por processos discriminatórios, violências diversas e desilusões. Apesar disto, verifica-se que o sonho de uma vida melhor continuará a inspirar a emigração nessa parte da Amazônia, mesmo que as autoridades francesas intensifiquem as restrições a esse fluxo no futuro
