Purification of an Exopolygalacturonase from Penicillium viridicatum RFC3 Produced in Submerged Fermentation

An exo-PG obtained from Penicillium viridicatum in submerged fermentation was purified to homogeneity. The apparent molecular weight of the enzyme was 92 kDa, optimum pH and temperature for activity were pH 5 and 50–55°C. The exo-PG showed a profile of an exo-polygalacturonase, releasing galacturonic acid by hydrolysis of pectin with a high degree of esterification (D.E.). Ions Ca2+ enhanced the stability of enzyme and its activity by 30%. The Km was 1.30 in absence of Ca2+ and 1.16 mg mL−1 in presence of this ion. In relation to the Vmax the presence of this ion increased from 1.76 to 2.07 μmol min−1mg−1

Performability Evaluation of Voice Services in Converged Networks

In the last years, the transmission of voice services in converged networks has experienced a huge growth. However, there are still some questions considering the ability of these networks to deliver voice services with acceptable quality. In this paper, we applied analytical modeling and simulation to analyze the quality of voice services using a new index, called MOS a , which considers jointly the MOS index and the availability of the subjacent infrastructure. We consider the influence of different CODECs (G.711 and G.729), queuing policies (Priority Queuing and Custom Queuing), and the warm standby redundancy mechanism. Our goal is to analyze the quality of these services by taking into account overloading conditions in different  architectures/scenarios. These scenarios were constructed using the modeling mechanisms Reliability Block Diagram and Stochastic Petri Nets in addition to a discrete event simulator. Experimental results indicate that the G.711 CODEC has a higher sensitivity both in terms of data traffic volume and allocated network resources in relation to the G.729 CODEC

A ARQUEGENEALOGIA COMO CRÍTICA À INSTRUMENTALIZAÇÃO DO PENSAMENTO: BREVE ANÁLISE DE TRÊS VERDADES DO DISCURSO PROGRESSISTA

Neste artigo, analisamos três interdições do discurso progressista que, à luz da arquegenealogiafoucaultiana, inviabilizam a auto constituição do sujeito racional. Isso se configura emum setor específico do discurso progressista atrelado ao político, mais particularmente,à opção partidária. Nesse sentido, tanto o conservador quanto o progressista operam namesma lógica, a saber: (i) interditando a moderação (verdade no 1); (ii) restringindo aexistência ao político e o político ao partidário (verdade no 2); (iii) impondo a união comoforma de garantir um pensamento homogêneo (verdade no 3). A inteligência de negócios como fonte de vantagem competitiva em micro e pequenas empresas presentes em espaços de coworking em Curitiba

Objetiva-se identificar a inteligência de negócios como fonte de vantagem competitiva em micro e pequenas empresas na cidade de Curitiba, Paraná em uma amostra de organizações presentes em espaços de coworking. Para alcançar este objetivo foi feito o uso do método de pesquisa exploratória e análise do referencial teórico no campo de Administração e Tecnologia da Informação, bem como a aplicação de um questionário. Na análise do referencial teórico foram expostos os conceitos da origem da Inteligência de Negócios, Data Warehouse, Online Analytical Processing, análise, vantagem competitiva e micro e pequenas empresas. Com a execução dos métodos e aplicação do questionário, foram obtidos resultados acerca das micro e pequenas empresas presentes em espaços de coworking. Resultados os quais expressaram que micro e pequenas empresas possuem limitações tecnológicas, um processo de tomada de decisão não programado, onde a informação é considerada um ativo pelas organizações de pequeno porte, tanto como fonte de otimização dos seus processos internos, quanto recurso necessário para o desenvolvimento de serviços ou produtos. Economy, politics and religion: salvationist discourse in japanese pop culture

This paper analyzes the salvationist discourse taking as materiality the tokusatsu MegaBeast Investigator Juspion, launched between 1985 and 1986. The main objective is to describe and interpret the functioning of salvationism in the interdiscursive relationship with economic, political and religious discourses. The corpus is composed of discursive sequences (DSs) transcribed from the characters speeches from which the discursive fields of reference (economic, political and religious) that regulate the extraction of the DSs are inserted. Worldrenowned and part of the cultural memory not only of the East, but also of the West, Juspion is one of the many mythological forms that, through the intertwining of the economic, the political, and the religious, gives rise to effects of meaning of resistance to power.Este artigo analisa o discurso salvacionista tomando como materialidade o tokusatsu O Fantástico Jaspion, lançado entre 1985 e 1986. O objetivo principal é descrever e interpretar o funcionamento do salvacionismo na relação interdiscursiva com os discursos econômico, político e religioso. O corpus é composto por sequências discursivas (SDs) transcritas das falas dos personagens a partir das quais se inserem os campos discursivos de referência (o econômico, o político e o religioso) que regulam a extração das SDs. A Straightforward Method for Synthesizing Bioactive Resorcinolic Lipid Analogues

Resorcinolic lipids, a class of bioactive amphiphilic molecules found widely in nature, hold potential for a variety of biological and industrial applications. This report describes the synthesis of three bioactive structural analogues of resorcinolic lipids, obtained by subjecting ethyl (E)-2-undecenoate and ethyl acetoacetate to a Michael reaction in the presence of sodium ethoxide to generate a Michael adduct, followed by cyclization in the reaction medium. Ethyl 2-octyl-4,6-dioxocyclohexanecarboxylate (7) was thus produced with a 60% yield. To perform an aromatization step, 7 was subsequently treated with I2 in methanol under reflux, producing a combined 80% yield of 2,4-dimethoxy-6-octyl-ethyl benzoate (1) and 2-hydroxy-4-methoxy-6-octyl-ethyl benzoate (2) at a 7:3 ratio, respectively. 2-Hydroxy-4-methoxy-6-octyl-benzoic acid was obtained with a 60% yield by treating 1 with BBr3/CHCl3. The structures of the synthesized compounds and intermediates were elucidated by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, employing two-dimensional techniques (HSQC and HMBC). LAND USE AND LAND COVER DYNAMICS AND POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES ON THE ECOSYSTEM SERVICES IN THE MARAPANIM RIVER WATERSHED, PARÁ, BRAZIL

Changes in the dynamics of land use and land cover may significantly alter ecosystem models and processes, leading to changes in the delivery of their ecosystem services. In the Amazon, among the areas most affected by these changes are the forested watersheds, which involve a huge variety of ecosystem services that support human and animal well-being. Given the above, this study aims to analyse the dynamics of deforestation and changes in land use and land cover classes in the Marapanim River watershed, located in the northeast of Pará, to identify the possible consequences in the provision of water-related ecosystem services. The methodology used in this study consists of quantifying and mapping deforestation and land use change using PRODES and MapBiomas data, identifying their impacts through estimates of loss of water-related ecosystem services and analysing the consequences of this process. The results revealed that the accumulated deforestation in the Marapanim River watershed between the years 1988 and 2019 was 1,614.72 km², about 74.84% of its area, resulting from forest conversion for pasture and urban areas in the most cases. In addition, it is concluded that this situation has had effects on water-related ecosystem services, especially regards to regulating services, affecting forest and soil moisture, evapotranspiration, carbon sequestration and temperature increase. Finally, it was found that human occupation close to head watershed areas has contributed to the pollution of its rivers, by preventing their use for human consumption

"Lendo o baralho": O olhar, as impressões e as relações de um grupo de senhoras com a rede de usuários e vendedores de drogas em uma Vila de Porto Alegre

Tudo começou porque eu queria pesquisar um grupo de usuários de crack do Morro da Cruz, do qual já venho tentando me aproximar em função de meu trabalho como Agente Redutor de Danos (Bastos; Mesquita & Marques, 1998; Brasil, 2003; Piccolo, 2001, Gregis, 2002). Pensei que poderia unir as duas coisas – trabalho e academia – utilizando a segunda como desculpa para uma aproximação, tão importante ao primeiro. Sendo este um trabalho para uma cadeira introdutória, e não sendo este o momento ideal para um projeto que envolva problemas de ordem ética (como o sigilo e a periculosidade, por exemplo), recebi a orientação para escolher um outro universo de pesquisa. Como não quisesse abrir mão do tema do consumo de drogas, pensei em utilizar uma espécie de “escudo protetor”, a partir do qual eu poderia olhar para o problema de maneira diagonal. Para tanto, a opção por grupos geográfica e socialmente próximos a uma rede de drogas pareceu-me interessante. O objetivo inicial deste trabalho era pesquisar o olhar de dois grupos de senhoras da Vila São João - mais conhecida como Morro da Cruz – sobre a rede de drogas ilícitas da mesma região, compreendendo-se por rede de drogas todo o conjunto de sujeitos que usam, vendem, compram e distribuem drogas. Porém, da apresentação desta proposta no início do semestre até agora, algumas coisas mudaram
