Spanish Nurses' Knowledge about Palliative Care. A National Online Survey
Background: Nurses can find people with advanced diseases or in their last days of life during their professional careers and in many different care settings. For this reason, they need to have at least a basic level of palliative care education since they are the professional cohort treating these patients in a very close way. This research aims to determine the level of knowledge in palliative care of Spanish nurses and establish any possible difference based on their experience and training in palliative care. (2) Methods: A cross-sectional design using survey methods (distributed an online questionnaire) aimed at Spanish registered nurses. A validated questionnaire (PCQN-SV) was used to determine the level of knowledge in palliative care; information on some variables to characterize the population was also collected (experience and education in palliative care, years of professional experience, academic level, and others). Uni and bivariate descriptive analyses were performed. A binary logistic regression model was also developed to identify those variables that influenced obtaining results higher than the population's average. (3) Results: Spanish nurses have a medium-low level of knowledge in palliative care, higher in those who have previous experience or education in this area. Statistically significant differences were also found according to the area in which their caring activity was developed. (4) Conclusions: It is necessary to implement strategies for the basic training of nursing professionals in palliative care to offer quality care to people in advanced stages of illnesses or at the end of their lives
The Environmental Kuznets Curve: A Semiparametric Approachwith Cross-Sectional Dependence
This paper proposes a new approach to examine the relationship between CO2 emissionsand economic developing. In particular, we propose to test the Environmental Kuznets Curve(EKC) hypothesis for a panel of24OECD countries and32non-OECD countries by developinga more flexible estimation technique which enables to account for functional form misspecification, cross-sectional dependence, and heterogeneous relationships among variables, simultaneously. We propose a new nonparametric estimator that extends the well-known Common CorrelatedEffect (CCE) approach from a fully parametric framework to a semiparametric panel data model. Our results corroborates that the nature and validity of the income-pollution relationship basedon the EKC hypothesis depends on the model assumptions about the functional form specification. For all the countries analyzed, the proposed semiparametric estimator leads to non-monotonicallyincreasing or decreasing relationships for CO2emissions, depending on the level of economicdevelopment of the country. The authors gratefully acknowledge financial support from the Programa Estatal de Generación de

Article 47 of the Spanish Constitution states: "All Spaniards are entitled to enjoy decent and
adequate housing". However, the answer to "what is the meaning of decent housing?"
cannot be found anywhere. If we considered the Technical Building Code (CTE), it might be
said that a decent and adequate home is the one which accomplishes the CTE aims.
Nevertheless, according to popular beliefs, there are other ideas implied within the given
concept: home ownership or somewhere to become rooted with. That is to say, a home for
one's whole life, a solid and permanent construction with some preferences towards certain
materials (such as brick or concrete). Regarding urbanism, other considerations such as
location, proximity to transport networks, workplaces, hospitals, schools or CBDs can be
found as well.
By contrast, if this issue is contemplated from a sustainable perspective, these mental
structures and cultural behaviours can be counterproductive. That is because there are
certain points that would be desirable, such as pursuing a sustainable urban planning or
promoting a greater mobility to find a job among population. Within this context, the aim of
this article is not to offer a solution (which should be agreed among the differents social
agents) but to encourage a debate about the current social housing model and to reflect
about different alternatives. Furthermore, a possible anwer for this debate would be the
following: the necessity of distinguishing between a dwelling as a property, as a product to be
bought and sold; and the minimum social housing unit seen as a need for society. This
minimum housing unit would be incompatible with the property of the residence or land. In
addition, the formulation of this housing model could be based on a type of dwelling that
would be ephemeral, removable, recyclable, bio-climatic, transportable, and that would be
located on a piece of land specially intended for it. Finally, a model of housing whose spirit
would respond to the consideration that everybody, rather than owning a dwelling, can trust
that they will be supplied with a home that meets their requirements for habitability, location
and mobility whenever and wherever they will need it.Según el artículo 47 de la Constitución: "todos los españoles tienen derecho a una vivienda
digna y adecuada".
Esto pone de manifiesto la necesidad de revisión de dichos criterios clasificatorios.[eng] Neuropsychiatric (NP) involvement is one of the leading morbidity and mortality causes in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients. However, the correct attribution of NP presentation in SLE or to an alternative etiology is a challenge for clinicians given the absence of "gold standard tests” for their diagnosis, although the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the preferred imaging procedure as it is a widely available test and allows the exclusion of other conditions causing NP symptoms. In addition, involvement of the peripheral nervous system (PNS) in patients with SLE is an important complication. However, it has not yet been well characterized in SLE in terms of prevalence, onset, clinical severity, immunological and electrophysiological associations. In this context we develop our research work, objectifying that the inflammatory pattern in the cerebral MRI is more frequently associated with the presence of a higher SLEDAI and low levels of complements. This supports the fact that this pattern is related to the damage mediated by antibodies and cytokines, so these data suggest that the treatment in these cases should be based on the administration of immunosuppressants. In addition, myelopathy syndrome seems to be related to a specific MRI pattern: inflammatory or mixed lesions, a focal pattern and infratentorial lesions. However, although MRI is currently the imaging technique of choice in patients with suspected LESNP, alone does not allow establishing of diagnosis certainty.
Regarding the involvement of the SNP in SLE, it is a frequent neuropsychiatric affection affecting one in five patients with SLE, although it may be underdiagnosed. Sensory-motor polyneuropathy is the most frequent manifestation. In addition, patients with PNS involvement are diagnosed with SLE at older age, perhaps this delay with the diagnosis of SLE at the beginning of the treatment favors the development of this condition, which has also been related to the absence of hematological compromise throughout the evolution of SLE, although the clinical significance of this finding remains to be determined. However, it has been found that there is no immunological pattern characteristic to PNS involvement in SLE.
This thesis broadens the knowledge about the neuropsychiatric manifestations of SLE and can contribute to a better control of SLE
Service-Learning for Sustainability Entrepreneurship in Rural Areas: What Is Its Global Impact on Business University Students?
5296Service-Learning (SL) is a teaching innovation method that combines learning and social
service objectives to improve educational quality and graduate employability. To date, there are hardly
any studies on its global impact on university students. This paper describes and evaluates an SL
experience for Sustainability Entrepreneurship in the context of Spanish Higher Education. Based on
knowledge acquired in classrooms, multi-disciplinary teams of students from di erent subjects related
to Business Administration o ered support to potential entrepreneurs from rural municipalities in
the complex task of writing a successful Business Plan for their projects for local sustainability. Within
this academic framework, our study has two goals: (1) to assess the self-perception of university
students about the improvement in their curricular development, professional skills and civic-social
responsibility after participating in the SL experience; and (2) to estimate its possible e ect on
academic performance. The results show that the students acknowledged they had improved their
social and sustainability commitment and their curricular development, and had acquired skills that
society increasingly demands from future business professionals. Furthermore, service-students
achieved significantly higher academic performance than a control group of non-participating
students. These findings highlight the e ectiveness of SL to provide a more holistic education for
business university students.S
