The Impact of Directors’ External Connections on Their Compensation
Based on a large sample of directors, I find that directors’ external connections are positively associated with the level of their compensation, suggesting that directors are compensated for the value they bring to the firm through their external connections. This association holds after controlling for the various factors such as firm and CEO characteristics, board related governance characteristics, directors’ attributes such as experience and education, industry and year fixed effects, used in prior studies. Essays on Board of Directors’ External Connections
The two essays in this dissertation study issues related to the board of directors’ external connections, i.e., social ties to directors and executives of other firms. The first essay examines whether and how directors’ external connections affect the operating performance of the firm for which they are board members. Using a large sample of 393,481 directors and executives from 7,627 companies over the time period from 2000 to 2010, I map the social network of directors and senior level executives, and construct a measure of directors’ external connections capturing how connected an individual director is to directors and executives of other firms. I find a positive association between the extent of directors’ external connections and firm performance. In addition, I find that firms experience efficiency gains through cost reductions in the presence of well-connected directors. Overall, my findings suggest that directors’ external connections provide economic benefits to firms by increasing sales growth, lowering production costs, and improving firm profitability.
The second essay investigates whether directors’ external connections influence director compensation and appointment. Drawing on my findings in the first essay, I argue that the external connections of directors are reflected in labor market outcomes for directors. Consistent with prior literature, I find that directors’ external connections are positively associated with the level of their compensation and that directors with more extensive external connections earn more than those with more limited external connections. I then examine the impact of directors’ external connections on director appointments. Using the subsample of directors who departed as a director of one firm during the period from 2003 to 2010, I examine whether directors’ external connections impact the likelihood of being selected as a new director at another firm. I find that the extent of a director’s external connections increases the likelihood that he/she will obtain a new directorship at another firm, suggesting that external connections play an important role in director selection process. Collectively, this dissertation provides empirical evidence that relational capital captured in directors’ external connections provides access to valuable resources and information to the firm, thereby enhancing its financial performance, and has significant impact on labor market outcomes for directors in the form of director compensation and director appointment
Generation of a dataset for network intrusion detection in a real 5G environment
Abstract. As 5G technology is widely implemented on a global scale, both the complexity of networks and the amount of data created have exploded.
Future mobile networks will incorporate artificial intelligence as a crucial enabler for intelligent wireless communications, closed-loop network optimization, and big data analytics. In these future mobile networks, network security would be of the utmost importance, as many applications expect a higher level of network security from the networking infrastructure. Therefore, conventional procedures in which action is taken following the detection of an attack would be insufficient, and self-adaptive intelligent security systems would be required. This paves the door for AI-based network security strategies in the future. In AI-based security research, the lack of comprehensive, valid datasets is a persistent issue. Publicly accessible data sets are either obsolete or insufficient for 5G security research. In addition, mobile network providers are hesitant to share actual network datasets due to privacy issues. Hence, a genuine data set from a real network is extremely beneficial to AI-based network security research. This study will describe the creation of a genuine dataset containing several attack scenarios implemented on a real 5G network with real mobile users. Since a fully operational 5G network is utilized to generate the data, this dataset is characterized by its close resemblance to real-world situations. In addition, data is collected from multiple base stations and made available as independent datasets for federated learning-based research to build a global model of intelligence for the entire network. The obtained data will be processed to identify the optimal features, and the accuracy of intrusion detection will be validated using several common machine learning and neural network models such as Decision Tree, Random Forest, K-Nearest Neighbor, Support Vector Machines and Multi Layer Perceptron. A detailed analysis of a binary classification to detect malicious and non-malicious flows as well as a multi class classification to detect different attack types is presented
Permainan Tradisional Congklak terhadap Pengembangan Kecerdasan Logis Matematis Anak
This research aims to determine the influence of traditional games on the development of children's mathematical logical intelligence in preschool Kartika and Dta Al-Bilal, Karawang district in 2023. The method used is a quasi-experimental type with a non-equivalent control group design approach. The research results show that the Wilcoxon test results show the asymp value. Sig. (2-taileid) is <.001 < 0.005, so it can be concluded that ho is rejected and ha is accepted, thus it can be concluded that there is an influence of the traditional game congklak on the development of children's mathematical logical intelligence in the Kartika preschool, Karawang district in 2023. The conclusion of this research is that there is an influence of traditional games on the development of children's mathematical logical intelligence at Paud Kartika and Dta Al-Bilal.

Trend in Improving Teacher Competence in Innovative Learning at Primary School
Abstract This study aims to identify global trends in improving elementary school teacher competency through innovative learning approaches. The method employed is a systematic literature review (SLR) based on the PRISMA protocol, which analyzes 35 selected articles from reputable international journals published between 2015 and 2024. The results of the study indicate that project-based learning (PBL) is the most dominant approach used in teacher competency development, followed by technology integration and continuous professional training. This study also highlights the importance of techno-pedagogical competency, reflective ability, and adaptation to local socio-cultural contexts. In addition, geographical disparities and access to training were found to have an impact on the education quality gap between regions. This study recommends integrating the TPACK model and reflective practices into teacher training designs, along with contextual and data-driven policies. These findings offer both conceptual and practical contributions to designing strategies that enhance elementary teacher professionalism, aligning with the demands of the 21st century.Keywords: innovative learning, primary education, professional development, teacher competence.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tren global dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru sekolah dasar melalui pendekatan pembelajaran yang inovatif. Metode yang digunakan adalah tinjauan pustaka sistematis (SLR) berdasarkan protokol PRISMA, yang menganalisis 35 artikel terpilih dari jurnal internasional terkemuka yang diterbitkan antara tahun 2015 dan 2024. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis proyek (PBL) adalah pendekatan yang paling dominan digunakan dalam pengembangan kompetensi guru, diikuti oleh integrasi teknologi dan pelatihan profesional berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini juga menyoroti pentingnya kompetensi tekno-pedagogis, kemampuan reflektif, dan adaptasi terhadap konteks sosial budaya setempat. Selain itu, disparitas geografis dan akses ke pelatihan ditemukan berdampak pada kesenjangan kualitas pendidikan antar-wilayah. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pengintegrasian model TPACK dan praktik reflektif ke dalam desain pelatihan guru, bersama dengan kebijakan kontekstual dan berbasis data. Temuan ini menawarkan kontribusi konseptual dan praktis untuk merancang strategi yang meningkatkan profesionalisme guru sekolah dasar, yang sejalan dengan tuntutan abad ke-21.Kata kunci: kompetensi guru, pembelajaran inovatif, pendidikan dasar, pengembangan profesional

Gandhiyo Sukabumi. The purpose of this study was to determine the internal control system in an effort to prevent employee fraud committed by PT.Gandhiyo Sukabumi. The methodology used in this research is descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach. The data used in this study are secondary data and data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and literature case studies, the data methodology used is before the field and during and after the field by way of data reduction, data display (data presentation) and drawing conclusions and verification.
The results of this study indicate that the analysis of the internal control system in an effort to prevent employee fraud at PT. Gandhiyo Sukabumi is not going well, internal controls that are not supervised so that it causes employee fraud at PT Gandhiyo, a company should be more concerned with control systems and have a more sophisticated system. so as not to experience fraud, because the system is very weak, there is a very large chance of cheating at PT Gandhiyo Sukabumi
Pelatihan Dasar Microsoft Excel dengan Macro VBA Siswa Siswi SMK Sirajul Falah
Pelatihan Dasar Microsoft Excel dengan Macro VBA di SMK Sirajul Falah bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam menggunakan perangkat lunak Excel, terutama dalam fungsi Macro VBA. SMK Sirajul Falah, yang berlokasi di Kecamatan Parung, Kabupaten Bogor, memiliki 897 siswa dan 50 guru. Dengan perkembangan teknologi informasi yang pesat, penggunaan Microsoft Excel menjadi sangat penting dalam dunia pendidikan dan pekerjaan. Namun, banyak siswa yang belum memahami sepenuhnya kemampuan Excel, khususnya dalam pemrograman Macro VBA yang dapat meningkatkan efisiensi dalam pembuatan laporan.
Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan selama tiga hari dengan metode pengajaran yang mencakup pemaparan materi, praktik langsung, dan sesi tanya jawab. Para peserta dilatih untuk memahami konsep dasar Macro VBA dan menerapkannya dalam studi kasus nyata. Hasil dari pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan siswa dalam menggunakan Excel, yang tercermin dari antusiasme peserta dan kemampuan mereka dalam menyelesaikan tugas-tugas yang diberikan.
Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan manfaat jangka panjang bagi siswa, mempersiapkan mereka untuk memasuki dunia kerja yang semakin membutuhkan keterampilan dalam pengolahan data dan administrasi menggunakan Microsoft Excel. Dengan demikian, program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini tidak hanya meningkatkan keterampilan siswa, tetapi juga berkontribusi pada kualitas pendidikan di SMK Sirajul Falah.

FAKTOR MANUSIA DALAM KESELAMATAN DAN KESEHATAN KERJA: PENDIDIKAN DAN PELATIHAN SEBAGAI UPAYA MITIGASI RISIKO
Abstrak: Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) merupakan aspek penting dalam dunia industri dan konstruksi. Faktor manusia memiliki kontribusi yang signifikan terhadap keberhasilan implementasi K3. Faktor manusia mencakup berbagai aspek, mulai dari keterampilan, kesadaran, sikap, hingga budaya keselamatan yang diterapkan di tempat kerja. Tujuan utama dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman pekerja tentang prosedur keselamatan kerja, memperkuat budaya keselamatan di tempat kerja, serta mengurangi angka kecelakaan akibat kesalahan manusia. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan webinar. Dalam Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 105 peserta dari berbagaimacam kalangan. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi kegiatan, terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan peserta pelatihan sebesar 12,19%. Ini diperoleh dari hasil pre-test sebesar 81,43% yang meningkat menjadi 93,62% pada saat post-test. Sementara pelaksanaan kegiatan mendapatkan feedback yang posisitf dari peserta pelatihan dengan penilaian 3,525 pada skala 4.Abstract: Occupational Safety and Health (K3) is an important aspect of the industrial and construction world. The human factor has a significant contribution to the success of K3 implementation. Human factors cover various aspects, ranging from skills, awareness, and attitudes, to safety culture applied in the workplace. The main objective of this activity is to improve workers' understanding of occupational safety procedures, strengthen safety culture in the workplace, and reduce the number of accidents due to human error. The method used is webinars. This activity was attended by 105 participants from various backgrounds. Based on the results of the activity evaluation, there was an increase in the knowledge of training participants by 12.19%. This was obtained from the pre-test results of 81.43% which increased to 93.62% at the time of the post-test. Meanwhile, the implementation of the activity received positive feedback from training participants with an assessment of 3.525 on a scale of 4
Edukasi Bahaya Pinjaman Online Dan Cara-cara Memilih Fintech Legal di Perumahan Villa Dago Cluster Alam Asri III Pamulang
Financial Technology or Financial Technology (FinTech) is growing rapidly along with advances in internet technology and gadgets such as Smartphones, PCs, Tablets & Laptops. The public can access online loans through an application on their smartphone. With very easy requirements, fast processing, without surveys & also without involving the Bank, online loans are an alternative for people who are in need of money. Behind the convenience offered by Fintech, liquid online loans are known to have several risks, such as the high interest charged on loans. If unsecured loans at conventional banks apply monthly installments, online loans generally charge daily interest. In addition, there is a risk of fraud in online loans. Debtors can be trapped in loan offers with very large interest rates without prior information. The next risk is misuse of customer data, intimidation of billing and threats of violent terror by illegal fintechs, because these fintechs are not registered with the OJK. The fundamental objective offered in this Community Service activity is to provide education to the residents of Vila Dago Pamulang Housing, especially residents of the Alam Asri Cluster housing, about the dangers of online loans, especially those that are not registered with the OJK. Dibalik kemudahan yang ditawarkan oleh para Fintech, pinjaman online yang langsung cair diketahui memiliki beberapa resiko, seperti tingginya bunga yang dikenakan pada pinjaman. Jika kredit tanpa agunan pada Bank Konvensional menerapkan bunga cicilan per bulan, pinjaman online umumnya menetapkan bunga secara harian. Selain itu, terdpat resiko penipuan pada pinjaman online. Debitur dapat terjebak pada tawaran pinjaman dengan bunga yang sangat besar tanpa adanya informasi sebelumnya. Resiko selanjutnya adalah penyalahgunaan data nasabah, initimidasi penagihan serta ancaman teror kekerasan oleh pihak fintech ilegal, itu dikarenakan fintech tersebut tidak terdaftar di OJK. Tujuan mendasar yang ditawarkan pada kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini adalah memberikan edukasi kepada warga Perumahan Vila Dago Pamulang khususnya warga perumahan Cluster Alam Asri tentang bahaya pinjaman online khususnya yang tidak terdaftar di OJK. Investigating Organizational Determinants of Job Satisfaction: Mediating Role of Motivation
Purpose: The objective of this research is to examine the influence of Organizational Climate and Perceived Organizational Support on Job Satisfaction, with Motivation acting as a mediating variable among Digital Agency Workers in Indonesia.
Method: The study involved disseminating questionnaires to 76 employees across three digital agency firms located in the Jakarta Metropolitan Area, Indonesia, utilizing the convenience sampling method. The analysis of the collected data was performed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using the Smart PLS 4 software.
Result: The study's findings indicate that Organizational Climate and Perceived Organizational Support exert a direct influence on Job Satisfaction and on Motivation. Moreover, it was discovered that Motivation serves as a mediating factor in the relationship between Organizational Climate and Job Satisfaction, as well as between Perceived Organizational Support and Job Satisfaction. The author stresses the need for future research to focus on various external factors when analyzing job satisfaction. This includes factors such as personality traits, economic conditions, and challenges specific to certain industries
