Métodos digitales para la semántica histórica. Tras el rastro de los conceptos en corpus digitales

One of the biggest challenges associated with semantic analysis is to obtain a distance from existing semantic knowledge. Methods from the field of Digital Humanities allow us to find new ways to cope with that challenge. Text mining or topic modeling tools offer a new perspective on words and their combination within a text. The following article highlights the relevance of digital methods for historical semantics, using the Latin term virtus and its medieval use as an example. It raises the question of genre and diachronic semantic change and demonstrates how digital tools have the potential to not only challenge our knowledge about texts but also help to reorganize what we already know.Uno de los mayores desafíos asociados al análisis semántico es obtener distancia del conocimiento semántico existente. Los métodos del área de las humanidades digitales nos permiten encontrar nuevas maneras de afrontar ese desafío. El minado de textos o las herramientas de modelación de temas ofrecen una nueva perspectiva sobre las palabras y su combinación dentro de un texto. El siguiente artículo destaca la relevancia de los métodos digitales para la semántica histórica, utilizando como ejemplo la palabra latina virtus y su uso durante el medioevo. Se plantea la cuestión del género y del cambio de la semántica diacrónica, y se demuestra cómo las herramientas digitales tienen potencial no solo para desafiar nuestro conocimiento sobre los textos sino para ayudar a reorganizar lo que ya conocemos
