This study analyses the role played by adjustment costs and R&D investment prices in total R&D productivity. The results show that on average, for each monetary unit increase in adjustment costs produces a fall in productivity of 0.034 monetary units.R&D, productivity, adjustment costs

Financial Restrictions, Personal Income Tax (PIT) and Demand for a Permanent Home in a Dynamic Model. An analysis with Panel Data for Spain

    Get PDF
This paper analyzes the way in which income tax and liquidity determine the purchase or rental of a permanent home in Spain. To do this, we have developed a theoretical dynamic model based on Euler’s equation. This model is verified using a sample from the 1991-1995 Panel of income taxpayers. Results suggest that the degree of financial restriction is the most relevant variable when determining the possibility of purchasing a home, while tax incentives increase their relative weighting once this asset has been acquired. Incentives for renting a home are relatively insignificant particularly for taxpayers who habitually rent their homes.personal income tax, liquidity, permanent home, tax incentives

High resolution system for nanoparticles hyperthermia efficiency evaluation

    Get PDF
A system to evaluate nanoparticles efficiency in hyperthermia applications is presented. The method allows a direct measurement of the power dissipated by the nanoparticles through the determination of the first harmonic component of the in quadrature magnetic moment induced by the applied field. The magnetic moment is measured by using an induction method. To avoid errors and reduce the noise signal a double in phase demodulation technique is used. To test the system viability we have measured nanowires, nanoparticles and copper samples of different volumes to prove by comparing experimental and modeled result

Etiology of burning mouth syndrome : a review and update

    Get PDF
Introduction: Burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is characterized by an oral burning sensation in the absence of any organic disorders of the oral cavity. Although the cause of BMS is not known, a complex association of biological and psychological factors has been identified, suggesting the existence of a multifactorial etiology. Material and Method: A PubMed/Medline search was used to identify articles describing the different hypotheses regarding the etiology of BMS, as well as the psychological and anatomical data upon which such hypotheses are fundamented. Results: A review and update was made of the different hypotheses relating to the etiology of BMS (psychogenic factors, hormone disorders, neuropathic alterations, oral phantom pain, neuroplasticity and neuroinflammation), with a view to globally establishing possible relationships among them. Conclusions: In-depth investigation is needed to clarify the etiopathogenic mechanisms of BMS and its triggering factors, in order to develop effective and individualized management strategies that can be extended to patients in each different BMS subgroup

Synthesis of Ni nanoparticles by dc magnetron sputtering

Magnetic materials have been used with grain sizes down to the nanoscale for longer than any other type of material. The biomedical applications cover from magnetic separation of specific biological entities from their native environment to drug delivery, hyperthermia treatments or MRI contrast enhancement [1]. There are many synthesis methods depending on the final applications of the magnetic nanoparticles [2]. Sputtering methods are less extensively used, maybe due to the low efficiency of the process, however these methods have the advantage of a good control on the composition and size of the particles. Research has focused mainly on Fe [3,4], Co [5] and FeCo alloys [6]. In this work we apply the dc magnetron sputtering technique to the growth of Ni nanoparticles

Synthesis of Fe-Au nanoparticles through phase separation using the gas aggregation technique

During the last veers different type of magnetic materials have been obtained either alloys or nanopor-ritlcs with severall metalllics shells. These particle exhibt better magnetic properties, are biocompatible and have optical properties due to their shell noble metal layer, this is possible, to synthesize heterostructured nanoparticles with care/shell structure by using sputtering targets consisting of alloys of different materials. In the case of such materials have different surface energies and atomic sizes, there are diffusion processes which lead to the formation of structured nanoparticles with a shell and core having different composition. In this work we will show the results obtained about Fe-Au nanoparticles grown by I he gas aggregation technique, using magnetron sputering sources. Colloids prepared from sputtered deposits of heterostructed nanoparticles exhibit less aggregation when compared to suspensions obtained from pure magnetic materials. Spectrophotometry measurement show the presence of gold at the surface of the nanoparticles. Magnetic properties of such particle are analyzed by VSM. Compasition end structural analysis are studied by TEM and ÉDA

Reconstructing forest history from archaeological data: A case study in the Duero basin assessing the origin of controversial forests and the loss of tree populationsof great biogeographical interest

The study of more than 700 charcoals from the Vaccaean settlement of Pintia (Padilla del Duero, Valladolid) provides new local and detailed data about the Iron Age II forest composition in Continental–Mediterranean inland Spain. Pinus gr. sylvestris/nigra (from which an unexpectedly high number of charcoals were identified), together with Mediterranean pines (also highly represented), Juniperus L. and evergreen and deciduous Quercus, were the main taxa living in the area, revealing two different marked biogeographical elements in the late-Holocene landscapes of the Duero basin: Mediterranean and Eurosiberian. On one hand, the results shed new light on the assessment of the origin of Mediterranean pinewoods in the area. On the other hand, the charcoal assemblage of Pintia reveals a more important presence of the current Mediterranean highland pines in the lowlands of the Central Iberian Peninsula in the late-Holocene suggesting the existence of interglacial refugia. Finally, this work highlights palaeoecological studies as valuable tools to support decisions on forest management related to conservation and restoration of our natural heritage

Desarrollo de un sistema web para mejorar la gestión operativa del taller automotriz Kodo Motors

    Get PDF
