PENGEMBANGAN SISTEM INFORMASI ADMINISTRASI AKADEMIK PADA SMK NEGERI 4 PALOPO

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sistem informasi administrasi akademik dan mengetahui kualitas informasi yang dihasilkan oleh sistem informasi administrasi akademik pada SMK Negeri 4 Palopo. Aspek kualitas informasi yang diamati dalam penelitian ini meliputi beberapa indikator yaitu: (1) kemudahan akses, (2) konsistensi, (3) keakuratan, (4) kelengkapan, (5) relevansi, (6) ketepatan waktu. Data diambil di tempat penelitian yaitu SMK Negeri 4 Palopo, responden adalah guru mata pelajaran yang memiliki tugas tambahan sebagai wakil kepala sekolah, wali kelas dan staf administrasi serta siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode Research and Development (R&D) yang digabungkan dengan metode pengembangan System Development Life Cycle melalui 5 tahap yaitu: tahap investigasi, tahap analisis, tahap perancangan, tahap implementasi dan tahap uji coba. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan sistem informasi administrasi akademik di SMK Negeri 4 Palopo meningkatkan kualitas informasi, hal ini berdasarkan tanggapan responden dari hasil uji coba lapangan mengenai kemudahan akses informasi, keakuratan informasi, ketepatan waktu, konsistensi informasi, kelengkapan informasi dan relevansi informasi. Tanggapan tersebut dapat dilihat melalui hasil rekapitulasi rerata keseluruhan aspek (program dan pengguna) yaitu 3,68 dan persentase 92,04% berada dalam kategori sangat setuju. Nigerian Fulani ecotype chickens - I – Growth performance under two production systems

The rearing of indigenous chickens is an integral part of the smallholder farming systems in developing countries, where they are kept by the rural  Poor to satisfy multiple functions Thus, the growth performance of Nigerian Fulani ecotype chicken (NFEC) under intensive and pastured poultry production systems was evaluated. Two hundred, day-old chicks of Nigerian Fulani ecotype chicken (NFEC) were obtained. The chickens were  Separated randomly to intensive and pastured poultry production systems at 12 weeks of age. Data on body weight were taken weekly from day-old to 20 weeks. Data were analyzed using PROC GLM of SAS® at statistical significance level of P<0.05. Results showed significant effect of sex of  chicken from the 10th to the 20th week of age (P<0.05). Significant interaction effect was observed between sex and production system at weeks 16 and 18 (P<0.05) when the male chickens under the intensive production system outpaced their male counterparts in the pastured poultry. Average daily gain for the period of 20 weeks was 6.83g and 9.21g for female and male chickens, respectively. Weight gain pattern across weeks was not  uniform. There was no significant difference in the growth rate in the two production systems (P>0.05). The study revealed that little disparity exists in growth performance of NFEC under the pastured and deep-litter production systems. Nigerian Fulani ecotype chickens - II – Estimation of growth curve parameters

In the study, growth curves of Nigerian Fulani ecotype chickens (NFEC) were modelled under two production systems with four non-linear  growth functions with a view to establishing growth descriptors for NFEC. Two hundred, day-old chicks of NFEC were  obtained from an established  population of NFEC. The chickens were separated randomly to intensive and pastured poultry production systems at 12 weeks of age. Data on body  weight were taken weekly over a period of 20 weeks. Four non-linear growth functions including Gompertz, Logistic, Bertalanffy and Richard's models were fitted using the NLIN procedure of SAS® while the best fit model was selected using the goodness-of-fit tests. For all the models, parameter (A), the asymptotic weight, ranged between 1800g and 2417g for male and 1208g and 1550g for female chickens respectively. Parameter  (B), the scaling parameter ranged from 0.77 and 19.79. Parameter K, which is the maturity index, ranged between 0.16 and 3.97 for both sexes. The R2 values ranged between 0.9689 and 0.9987 for all the models fitted. Gompertz and Bertalanffy models emerged as the best fit functions. Age and  body weight at inflection of NFEC were also predicted by the study. Growth curve parameters of NFEC in the pastured poultry system were not significantly different from those in the intensive system. The growth curve parameters estimated indicates that NFEC growth performance can be improved through effective breeding strategies and improved management practices. Ultrastructural comparison of three stingless bees species of Borneo

Three species of stingless bees were collected from Borneo. The species were Geniotrigona lacteifasciata (4 samples), Tetragonula melanocephala (2 samples) and Tetragonula sirindhornae (4 samples). Several features such as the morphology of mandible, the shape and size of corbiculae, and the hamuli number on both left and right wings were compared. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed all three species have the same structures of mandibles with two pointed tooth and one large blade, which could be considered as mildly aggressive. G. lacteifasciata showed a wider corbiculae compared to T. melanocephala and T. sirindhornae. The larger corbiculae is assumed to collect and carry heavier pollen load. SEM observation showed clear hamuli on both wings but with asymmetrical number for some. G. lactefasciata showed either 9 hamuli on both wings, or 9 hamuli on the left and 8 on the right wings, or 9 hamuli on the left and 10 hamuli on the right wings. T. melanocephala exhibited a similar number of hamuli, which was 5 hamuli on both wings. T. sirindhornae showed either 4 or 5 hamuli on both side of wings. It could be assumed that the stingless bees with more hamuli will fly further for foraging

Overview of the current status of familial hypercholesterolaemia care in over 60 countries - The EAS Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Studies Collaboration (FHSC)

Background and aims: Management of familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) may vary across different settings due to factors related to population characteristics, practice, resources and/or policies. We conducted a survey among the worldwide network of EAS FHSC Lead Investigators to provide an overview of FH status in different countries. Methods: Lead Investigators from countries formally involved in the EAS FHSC by mid-May 2018 were invited to provide a brief report on FH status in their countries, including available information, programmes, initiatives, and management. Results: 63 countries provided reports. Data on FH prevalence are lacking in most countries. Where available, data tend to align with recent estimates, suggesting a higher frequency than that traditionally considered. Low rates of FH detection are reported across all regions. National registries and education programmes to improve FH awareness/knowledge are a recognised priority, but funding is often lacking. In most countries, diagnosis primarily relies on the Dutch Lipid Clinics Network criteria. Although available in many countries, genetic testing is not widely implemented (frequent cost issues). There are only a few national official government programmes for FH. Under-treatment is an issue. FH therapy is not universally reimbursed. PCSK9-inhibitors are available in ∼2/3 countries. Lipoprotein-apheresis is offered in ∼60% countries, although access is limited. Conclusions: FH is a recognised public health concern. Management varies widely across countries, with overall suboptimal identification and under-treatment. Efforts and initiatives to improve FH knowledge and management are underway, including development of national registries, but support, particularly from health authorities, and better funding are greatly needed. © 2018 Elsevier B.V

Global perspective of familial hypercholesterolaemia: a cross-sectional study from the EAS Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Studies Collaboration (FHSC)

Background The European Atherosclerosis Society Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Studies Collaboration (FHSC) global registry provides a platform for the global surveillance of familial hypercholesterolaemia through harmonisation and pooling of multinational data. In this study, we aimed to characterise the adult population with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia and described how it is detected and managed globally. Methods Using FHSC global registry data, we did a cross-sectional assessment of adults (aged 18 years or older) with a clinical or genetic diagnosis of probable or definite heterozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia at the time they were entered into the registries. Data were assessed overall and by WHO regions, sex, and index versus non-index cases. Findings Of the 61 612 individuals in the registry, 42 167 adults (21 999 [53·6%] women) from 56 countries were included in the study. Of these, 31 798 (75·4%) were diagnosed with the Dutch Lipid Clinic Network criteria, and 35 490 (84·2%) were from the WHO region of Europe. Median age of participants at entry in the registry was 46·2 years (IQR 34·3–58·0); median age at diagnosis of familial hypercholesterolaemia was 44·4 years (32·5–56·5), with 40·2% of participants younger than 40 years when diagnosed. Prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors increased progressively with age and varied by WHO region. Prevalence of coronary disease was 17·4% (2·1% for stroke and 5·2% for peripheral artery disease), increasing with concentrations of untreated LDL cholesterol, and was about two times lower in women than in men. Among patients receiving lipid-lowering medications, 16 803 (81·1%) were receiving statins and 3691 (21·2%) were on combination therapy, with greater use of more potent lipid-lowering medication in men than in women. Median LDL cholesterol was 5·43 mmol/L (IQR 4·32–6·72) among patients not taking lipid-lowering medications and 4·23 mmol/L (3·20–5·66) among those taking them. Among patients taking lipid-lowering medications, 2·7% had LDL cholesterol lower than 1·8 mmol/L; the use of combination therapy, particularly with three drugs and with proprotein convertase subtilisin–kexin type 9 inhibitors, was associated with a higher proportion and greater odds of having LDL cholesterol lower than 1·8 mmol/L. Compared with index cases, patients who were non-index cases were younger, with lower LDL cholesterol and lower prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors and cardiovascular diseases (all p<0·001). Interpretation Familial hypercholesterolaemia is diagnosed late. Guideline-recommended LDL cholesterol concentrations are infrequently achieved with single-drug therapy. Cardiovascular risk factors and presence of coronary disease were lower among non-index cases, who were diagnosed earlier. Earlier detection and greater use of combination therapies are required to reduce the global burden of familial hypercholesterolaemia.
