Estimación del número y distribución de los ambientes para la evaluación de rendimiento en cultivares de soja

El objetivo más importante de los programas de Mejoramiento Genético Vegetal es optimizar la productividad de los cultivos. Por otra parte, la cantidad de recursos económicos disponibles para la conducción de estos programas es limitada. Entonces, se necesita de una estrategia de evaluación que permita seleccionar aquellas líneas experimentales superiores en determinados ambientes con un presupuesto acotado. Los objetivos de este trabajo fueron (i) Estimar el número de ambientes necesarios para lograr detectar una diferencia mínima significativa (DMS) deseada de 250 kg ha-1, y (ii) Establecer un criterio para seleccionar aquellos ambientes que permitan realizar la evaluación de manera eficiente. Los datos utilizados en este estudio se obtuvieron de las bases de datos generadas por la compañía Coop. Criadero Santa Rosa y por la 'Red Nacional de Evaluación de Cultivares de Soja' ((ECSO). Se utilizaron los datos correspondientes al grupo de madurez IV cultivado durante cuatro campañas (2006/07 a 2009/10) en las Subregiones II-4, II-5 y II-6. El número de ambientes necesarios para detectar la DMS deseada se ubicó entre 5 y 10. Los resultados del Análisis de Conglomerados no permitieron dividir al mega-ambiente estudiado en subgrupos de ambientes homogéneos, ya que las asociaciones entre estos no fueron consistentes a través de las campañas. Sin embargo, pequeños grupos de ambientes (formados por 2 o 3 de ellos) tuvieron interacción genotipo × ambiente (IGA) similar a lo largo de las campañas en las que participaron

Role of Tetraspanins in SARS-CoV-2 Fusion and Entry

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is responsible for the pandemic the world has been facing in recent years. Even as new countermeasures are developed, there is still much we don’t know in terms of its entry into host cells. Tetraspanins are transmembrane proteins that are near ubiquitous amongst cell types. They fulfill numerous roles, including that of a viral co-receptor. Here, we considered whether tetraspanins, specifically CD9, CD63, and CD81 influence SARS-CoV-2 fusion and entry. Using ACE2-LgBit and tetraspanin overexpressing EVs and HeLa cells, we find that the presence of excess tetraspanins inhibit fusion and entry. However, we later find that co-overexpressing cells express significantly diminished levels of ACE2-LgBit. Furthermore, when this is difference is accounted for in our transfection assay, we see an increase in transfection, suggesting that tetraspanins could promote receptor efficient entry

El cálculo diferencial e integral, es materia obligada en gran parte del currículo escolar y piedra angular en el desarrollo de la matemática. Spillover Effects of Quota or Parity Laws: The Case of Ecuador Women Mayors

Do quota or parity laws designed to improve the representation of women in plurinominal elections have a spillover effect to uninominal elections? We empirically test this theory by analyzing the effects of quota and parity legislations implemented in Ecuador for plurinominal elections on the proportion of women elected as mayors. Through an unpublished database, our results show that after the implementation of such legislation, the probability of a woman being elected as mayor almost doubles (ceteris paribus). We also find evidence that a possible causal chain for the documented spillover effects is the increasing importance of female role models, motivated by institutional changes shaped by the new legislation

A Catalog of Aspect Refactorings for Spring/AOP

The importance of enterprise applications in current organizations makes it necessary to facilitate their maintenance and evolution along their life. These kind of systems are very complex and they have several requirements that orthogonally crosscut the system structure (called crosscutting concerns). Since many of the enterprise systems are developed with the Spring framework, can be taken advantage of the benefit provided by the aspect-oriented module of Spring in order to encapsulate the crosscutting concerns into aspects. In this way, the maintenance and evolution of the enterprise systems will be improved. However, most of the aspect refactorings presented in the literature are not directly applicable to Spring systems. Along this line, in this work we present an adaptation of a catalog of aspect refactorings, initially presented for AspectJ, to be used with Spring/AOP. Also, we conduct a case study in which two enterprise applications developed with the Spring framework are refactored in order to encapsulate their crosscutting concerns into aspects.Fil: Vidal, Santiago Agustín. Toward automated refactoring of crosscutting concerns into aspects

Aspect-oriented programing (AOP) improves the separation of concerns by encapsulating crosscutting concerns into aspects. Thus, aspect-oriented programing aims to better support the evolution of systems. Along this line, we have defined a process that assists the developer to refactor an object-oriented system into an aspect-oriented one. In this paper we propose the use of association rules and Markov models to improve the assistance in accomplishing some of the tasks of this process. Specifically, we use these techniques to help the developer in the task of encapsulating a fragment of aspectizable code into an aspect. This includes the choice of a fragment of aspectizable code to be encapsulated, the selection of a suitable aspect refactoring, and the analysis and application of additional restructurings when necessary. Our case study of the refactoring of a J2EE system shows that the use of the process reduces the intervention of the developer during the refactoring.Fil: Vidal, Santiago Agustín.
