The study of interactivity is critical to identify, describe and interpret the two main mechanisms of educational influence on the model of Coll. The construction of shared meaning systems and the transfer of control and responsibility for learning from teacher to student, whose study is proposed to be made in subsequent investigations

RG/Pade Estimate of the Three-Loop Contribution to the QCD Static Potential Function

    Get PDF
The three renormalization-group-accessible three-loop coefficients of powers of logarithms within the \bar{MS} series momentum-space for the QCD static potential are calculated and compared to values obtained via asymptotic Pad\'e-approximant methods. The leading and next-to-leading logarithmic coefficients are both found to be in exact agreement with their asymptotic Pad\'e-predictions. The predicted value for the third RG-accessible coefficient is found to be within 7% relative |error| of its true value for n_f leq 6, and is shown to be in exact agreement with its true value in the n_f \to \infty limit. Asymptotic Pad\'e estimates are also obtained for the remaining (RG-inaccessible) three-loop coefficient. Comparison is also made with recent estimates of the three-loop contribution to the configuration-space static-potential function.Comment: 13 pages, LaTeX, additional discussion on the result

Background: Healthcare workers (HCW) are a high-risk group for contraction of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. The aim of this study was to estimate the effect size of being a HCW and acquiring coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) at the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in Tijuana, Mexico. Methods: A cross-sectional study of the Epidemiologic Surveillance Online Notification System database was conducted, including entries from Tijuana City between March 11, 2020 to May 1, 2020. Multiple imputation was performed for SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR result where data was missing. Prevalence odds ratios (POR) were calculated to estimate the effect size of HCWs contracting COVID-19 compared to the general population (GP). Results: From a total of 10,216 entries, 6,256 patients were included for analysis. HCW status was significantly associated with higher odds of acquiring COVID-19, (POR=1.730, 95% Confidence Interval [95%CI]=1.459;2.050). Nurses had double odds (POR=2.339, 95%CI=1.804;3.032) than the GP. Physicians had a POR=1.828 (95%CI=0.766;1.380). Resident physician status was double the likelihood of the GP (POR=2.166, 95%CI=0.933;5.025). Meanwhile, being an intern had a protective factor (POR=0.253, 95%CI=0.085;0.758). Among medical specialties, emergency medicine had the highest exposure-effect association, followed by anesthesiologists. Conclusion: HCW had up to 73% increased odds of acquiring COVID-19 than the GP in Tijuana, Mexico. Nurses were the group with the highest likelihood out of all HCW, as a result of prolonged and close contact with patients. Emergency medicine and anesthesiology were the medical specialties with the highest odds of infection because they frequently perform aerosol-generating procedures

The Effect of Manual Therapy on Muscle Stiffness in Healthy Individuals

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the immediate and delayed changes in muscle stiffness (in a resting and contracted state) related to DN of the gastrocnemius compared to a sham DN condition. To further investigate this relationship, we investigated these changes at the site of the TP, as well as at a standard site (medial head of the gastrocnemius). We hypothesize that gastrocnemius DN reduces muscle stiffness in individuals with TP

Effects of sublethal doses of methoxyfenozide on the development, survival and reproduction of Spodoptera frugiperda.

The lethal and sublethal effects of the ecdysone agonist methoxyfenozide on the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith), were investigated by feeding a methoxyfenozide-treated diet to ϐifth instars until pupation in doses corresponding to the LC 10 and LC 25 for the compound. Larval mortality reached 8% and 26% in the low and high concentration groups, respectively, on the seventh day of the experiment. A progressive larval mortality of 12% for the LC 10 and 60% for the LC 25 was observed before pupation. Treated larvae exhibited lower pupal weights, higher pupal mortality, presence of deformed pupae, and more deformed adults than untreated larvae. The incorporation of methoxyfenozide into the diet had a signiϐicant effect on the timing of larval development. The development period for males and females was about seven days longer than the controls for both concentrations tested. In contrast, the compound affected neither pupae nor adult longevity. Finally, S. frugiperda adults that resulted from ϐifth instars treated with methoxyfenozide were not affected in their mean cumulative number of eggs laid per female (fecundity), nor percentages of eggs hatched (fertility), or the sex ratio. Our results suggest that the combination of lethal and sublethal effects of methoxyfenozide may have important implications for the population dynamics of the fall armywor

Lethal and Sublethal Effects on Tamarixia triozae (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), an Ectoparasitoid of <i>Bactericera cockerelli</i> (Hemiptera: Triozidae), of Three Insecticides Used on Solanaceous Crops

Lethal and sublethal effects of refined soybean oil, imidacloprid, and abamectin on Tamarixia triozae (Burks; Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) were assessed after exposure of the eggs, larvae, and pupae of this parasitoid to three concentrations of these active substances: the LC50 for fourth-instar Bactericera cockerelli (Sulc.; Hemiptera: Triozidae)and 50% and 100% of the minimum field-registered concentration (MiFRC). Soybean oil caused 26-61% mortality in T. triozae eggs and 6-19% in larvae; mortality in both eggs and larvae was ≤19% for imidacloprid and 4-100% for abamectin. All three compounds caused T. triozae pupae, with the exception of the abamectin 50% (47%) and 100% (72%) MiFRC. The mortality of larvae and pupae derived from treated eggs was ≤39% for all three insecticides, and that of pupae derived from treated larvae was ≤10%. In general, emergence of adults developed from treated eggs, larvae, and pupae was affected more by abamectin than by the other treatments. The proportion of females derived from all three development stages was not affected by treatment with the compounds, except when the parasitoid was treated as larvae with the soybean oil 100 and 50% MiFRC (66 and 68%, respectively) or when treated as pupae with the imidacloprid LC50 and 100% MiFRC (~60%). Female longevity was generally higher than that of males. The use of imidacloprid, soybean oil, and abamectin in combination with T. triozae for pest control may be effective when the parasitoid is in the pupal stage because this stage is less susceptible than other immature stages.Centro de Estudios Parasitológicos y de Vectore
