The Relationship Between Values and Interests

Some writers equate values with interests. Philipp Heck defines interests, which he treats as synonymous with values, as “all things that man holds dear, and all ideals which guide man\u27s life. ”There are many writers who distinguish between the two concepts and go into the details of the distinction, as is explained below. There is an apparent relationship between interests, principles, rules, values, objectives and other similar terms. Our main purpose is to find the link between interests and values, because the term interest dominates all legal discourse. In simple terms, interests recognized and enforced by law become rights. To elaborate the meaning of interests in relation to values, we need to refer to the work of Roscoe Pound, however briefly

Labial adhesions whatever their severity is can be surgically divided with complete correction by locally designed flap to reconstruct the introuitus with rapid recovery, good healing, and good cosmetic outcome

A systematic benchmark of the ab initio Bethe-Salpeter equation approach for low-lying optical excitations of small organic molecules

The predictive power of the ab initio Bethe-Salpeter equation (BSE) approach, rigorously based on many-body Green's function theory but incorporating information from density functional theory, has already been demonstrated for the optical gaps and spectra of solid-state systems. Interest in photoactive hybrid organic/inorganic systems has recently increased, and so has the use of the BSE for computing neutral excitations of organic molecules. However, no systematic benchmarks of the BSE for neutral electronic excitations of organic molecules exist. Here, we study the performance of the BSE for the 28 small molecules in Thiel's widely-used time-dependent density functional theory benchmark set [M. Schreiber et al. J. Chem. Phys. 128, 134110 (2008)]. We observe that the BSE produces results that depend critically on the mean-field starting point employed in the perturbative approach. We find that this starting point dependence is mainly introduced through the quasiparticle energies obtained at the intermediate GW step, and that with a judicious choice of starting mean-field, singlet excitation energies obtained from BSE are in excellent quantitative agreement with higher-level wavefunction methods. The quality of the triplet excitations is slightly less satisfactory

The study aimed to identify E- Learning strategies and their relation to the efficiency of research performance in foreign and Palestinian universities (University of Ottawa, Munster, Suez Canal, Al-Azhar, Islamic, Al-Aqsa). The analytical descriptive approach was used for this purpose, and relying on the questionnaire as a main tool for data collection. The study society is from the senior management, where the number of senior management in the universities in question is 206. The random stratified sample was selected and (SPSS) was used for statistical data analysis. The study found a significant relationship between E- Learning strategies and the efficiency of research performance in universities. It also reached the participation of senior management in the research that develops the university performance in the Palestinian universities. The senior management indicated that they do not care to follow the policies of implementing the development of scientific research. While the senior management in foreign universities indicated that they are interested in following up the policies of implementing the development of scientific research. The study also showed that senior management in Palestinian universities does not care about providing the appropriate budget for E- Learning. The study recommended that the senior management of Palestinian universities should provide an E- Learning budget and encourage employees to continue using E- Learning strategies. The administration in the Palestinian universities should adopt and support outstanding research, and the need to encourage interest in the implementation of policies for the development of scientific research

    Get PDF
The Indonesian Government seeks to invest in digital communications to strengthen Indonesia's tourism industry and position it as a leading tourist destination. Social media enables organizations to provide personalized and engaging information to communities or individuals efficiently and effectively. Therefore, this study aims to discover how the Indonesian government uses social media (Twitter) to create images that can help boost tourism and the economy after COVID-19. This study uses social network analysis to explain information distribution and interaction. This study analyzes social media networks for promoting and branding Indonesian tourism using a qualitative descriptive and theoretical approach. To visualize data analysis, the Nvivo 12 Plus software, specifically the Twitter Sociogram and Netlytics dataset tools, highlights the results of Social Network Analysis regarding interactions using the hashtag #WonderfulIndonesia. According to the study's findings, the Indonesian government uses Twitter as a means of communication and promotion to improve tourism's image or branding, which is likely to be effective. By mentioning the #WonderfulIndonesia hashtag, government accounts promote tourism branding by disseminating information to the public, private sector, and others. The use of social media in large-scale tourism branding activities to attract tourists and improve the nation's economy is usually accompanied by strict management. In addition, support from various stakeholders is needed because it is proven that the government, as a single actor, has limitations in increasing tourism sector revenue through branding

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD), the leading cause of death worldwide, has a huge area of primary prevention where patients at risk can be identified for more intensive, evidence-based medical interventions to reduce cardiovascular events. Whereas coronary angiography has stood the test of time to assess atherosclerotic burden, it is still unavailable to a huge population at risk of CAD. This study was devised in search of a cheap and simple tool to assess atherosclerotic burden. We aimed to investigate the relationship between Carotid Intima Media Thickness (CIMT) and Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) in patients evaluated by coronary angiography for suspected CAD and whether CIMT could predict the extension of CAD.Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study conducted from March 2013 to September 2015 in Department of Medicine, SMHS Hospital, J and K, India. A total of 100 patients admitted to for undergoing coronary angiography indicated for suspected coronary artery disease were enrolled. the risk factors evaluated in this study included age, body mass index, sex, dyslipidemia, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and smoking. CAD was assessed and classified by coronary angiography and CIMT was assessed by carotid doppler. Results: There was a positive relationship between CIMT and CAD. Risk factors like Age, smoking, BMI, cholesterol, hypertension, and diabetes had significant positive effect on CIMT; whereas gender, VLDL, triglycerides, HDL and LDL were statistically insignificant in affecting CIMT.Conclusions: CIMT is a cheap and simple tool to predict the extent of CAD

Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a genetic neurocutaneous condition, which affects multiple organ systems. This study aimed to determine the presenting features of children with TSC in Cape Town, South Africa. A cross-sectional study was conducted at a TSC clinic, and clinical features at presentation were prospectively collected. Thirty-nine children (23 boys; median age 10 (range 1 - 26) years; median diagnosis age 16 (0 - 153) months) were recruited. Twenty-one (54%) children presented with focal seizures. Seven (18%) children had epileptic spasms. Skin manifestations led to a diagnosis in 13 (33%) and neuroimaging in 22 (56%) children. Antenatal screening detected cardiac rhabdomyomas in 3 children. One child had a positive family history. In the paediatric service, TSC diagnosis usually followed neuroimaging, whereas at the neurology service skin manifestations indicated TSC. In conclusion, most children with TSC presented as emergency cases with seizures. Health practitioner awareness of the common TSC clinical signs was lacking, with the diagnosis often delayed
