This study assessed the moderating effect of social problem-solving (SPS) in the association between risk factors and peer victimization in a sample of Colombian adolescents. Using structural equation modeling techniques, this study assessed the extent to which changes in victimization varied as a function of the interaction between risk factors and social problem-solving. Results showed that both aggression and avoidance were predictive of initial scores on victimization, but only avoidance was found to predict its change over time. Only a main effect of SPS was found at the beginning of the year; no moderating effects were found. Results are consistent with previous findings by confirming that avoidance and aggression are risk factors for peer victimization

Context-Dependent Peer Victimization: Are physical and relational aggression tolerated differently in mixed-sex versus all-girl schools?

Contextual differences in the association between different forms of aggressive behavior and victimization were studied with a sample of 197 boys and 149 girls from mixed-sex schools and in 336 girls from all-girl schools (M = 10.21 years of age) in two cities in Colombia. Results showed that boys generally engage in more physical than relational aggression, whereas girls engage in more relational than physical aggression. Among boys, the association between aggression and victimization was significant only for the measure of relational aggression, whereas, for girls, victimization was significantly correlated only with physical aggression. This latter association was found to be significantly stronger for girls from the all-girl schools than for the girls from the mixed-sex schools. These findings are discussed in terms of how mixed-sex and same-sex groups, as different forms of peer context, affect the social dynamics related to the association between aggression and victimization

The research was redirected to the different studies that focus on reality of the Ecuadorian education system and the disadvantages facing the teaching-learning process due to negative manifestations of the environment, which influence the academic performance of the students, considering that precarious economic situations, intra-family problems, the barriers that the teacher faces Due to lack of recreational, recreational resources, training based on various areas of study, there are some situations that create inequalities between the different educational contexts of the country, being necessary to look for alternative solutions or reforms that focus on a particular reality, where it is distinguished the stages I of the rural and urban area, establishing as an objective to analyze education from an aspect of transformation, through a pedagogical plan determined by curricular adjustments, which allow the development of skills, implementation of methods, techniques according to the required level, with the purpose of Obtain educational excellence. For the development of the study, the exploratory methodology linked to knowing the specific problem was used, based on theoretical bases and results made in other fields of inquiry that relate the situation of the school to respond to social, cultural, economic and educational interests

Recommendations for treatment with recombinant human growth hormone in pediatric patients in Colombia

In Colombia there are no guidelines for diagnosis and management of patients with short stature and for the use of recombinanthuman growth hormone, mainly caused by the diversity of training centers in pediatric endocrinology. In response to this situation, the Asociación Colegio Colombiana de Endocrinología Pediátrica leds the first colombian short stature expert committee in order tostandardize the use of human recombinant growth hormone. This work had the participation and endorsement of a consortium ofclinical experts representing the Sociedad Colombiana de Pediatría, Secretaría Distrital de Salud de Bogotá- Subred Integrada deServicios de Salud Suroccidente, Fundación Universitaria Sanitas, Universidad de los Andes and some public and private healthinstitutions in the country, in addition to the participation of methodological experts from the Instituto Global de Excelencia ClínicaKeralty. By reviewing the literature and with the best available evidence, we proposed to unify definitions, a diagnostic algorithm, biochemical and dynamic tests with their reference parameters, a description of the considerations about growth hormone use amongthe indications approved by regulatory agency for medications and food in Colombia and finally a proposal for an informed consentand a medication fact sheet available for parents and patients.https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7856-7213https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2241-7854Revista Nacional - Indexad

Body dissatisfaction, the incongruity between an individual’s perception of their body and what they consider an ideal body, is associated with negative adjustment outcomes for children and adolescents. Females report greater body dissatisfaction. In the current study among Colombian early adolescents, eating behaviors, food preferences, and the discrepancy between the two were investigated as predictors of ideal and actual body size. Participants, 420 early adolescents (Mage=9.49, SD=0.67; 70.47% female) from six all-girl and six mixed-sex classes in Bogotá, Colombia, completed questionnaires in Spanish. Food consumption was measured by asking participants whether they had eaten “meat/fish”, “fruits/vegetables”, “bread/cereal”, and “milk products” in the last 24 hours, and for what meal/snack they ate each. Perceived and ideal body size were measured by showing seven diagrams of a same-sex child, ranging from very thin to very obese, with the middle diagram depicting a healthy weight. Participants chose which picture they felt they looked like and which they would like to look like. We employed structural equation modeling in M-Plus. Girls selected thinner preferred body sizes and reported greater body dissatisfaction. Consuming more breads and cereal was associated with more body dissatisfaction. Eating more fruits and vegetables predicted less body dissatisfaction. This study demonstrates that eating behaviors and body dissatisfaction are related. The findings may contribute to the development of interventions for adolescents with body dissatisfaction. The study also contributes to the literature by providing a sample of Latinx adolescents in Colombia, whereas most research in the field has been focused on WEIRD populations
