Reducing the dependency of having prior domain knowledge for effective online information retrieval
Sometimes Internet users struggle to find what they are looking for on the Internet due to information overload. Search engines intend to identify documents related to a given keyphrase on the Internet and provide suggestions. Having some background knowledge about a topic or a domain will help in building effective search keyphrases that will lead to accurate results in information retrieval. This is further pronounced among students that rely on the internet to learn about a new topic. Students might not have the required background knowledge to build effective keyphrases and find what they are looking for. In this research, we are addressing this problem, and aim to help students find relevant information online. This research furthers existing literature by enhancing information retrieval frameworks through keyphrase assignment, aiming to expose students to new terminologies, therefore reducing the dependency of having background knowledge about the domain under study. We evaluated this framework and identified how it can be enhanced to suggest more effective search keyphrases. Our proposed suggestion is to introduce a keyphrase Ranking Mechanism that will improve the keyphrase assignment part of the framework by taking into consideration the part-of-speech of the generated keyphrases. To evaluate the proposed approach, various data sets were downloaded and processed. The results obtained showed that our proposed approach produces more effective keyphrases than the existing framework
Empty spaces and the value of symbols: Estonia's 'war of monuments' from another angle
Taking as its point of departure the recent heightened discussion surrounding publicly sited monuments in Estonia, this article investigates the issue from the perspective of the country's eastern border city of Narva, focusing especially upon the restoration in 2000 of a 'Swedish Lion' monument to mark the 300th anniversary of Sweden's victory over Russia at the first Battle of Narva. This commemoration is characterised here as a successful local negotiation of a potentially divisive past, as are subsequent commemorations of the Russian conquest of Narva in 1704. A recent proposal to erect a statue of Peter the Great in the city, however, briefly threatened to open a new front in Estonia's ongoing 'war of monuments'. Through a discussion of these episodes, the article seeks to link the Narva case to broader conceptual issues of identity politics, nationalism and post-communist transition
Infrared Observations of the Candidate LBV 1806-20 & Nearby Cluster Stars
We report near-infrared photometry, spectroscopy, and speckle imaging of the
hot, luminous star we identify as candidate LBV 1806-20. We also present
photometry and spectroscopy of 3 nearby stars, which are members of the same
star cluster containing LBV 1806-20 and SGR 1806-20. The spectroscopy and
photometry show that LBV 1806-20 is similar in many respects to the luminous
``Pistol Star'', albeit with some important differences. They also provide
estimates of the effective temperature and reddening of LBV 1806-20, and
confirm distance estimates, leading to a best estimate for the luminosity of
this star of . The nearby cluster stars have
spectral types and inferred absolute magnitudes which confirm the distance (and
thus luminosity) estimate for LBV 1806-20. If we drop kinematic measurements of
the distance ( kpc), we have a lower limit on the distance
of kpc, and on the luminosity of , based on
the cluster stars. If we drop both the kinematic and cluster star indicators
for distance, an ammonia absorption feature sets yet another lower limit to the
distance of kpc, with a corresponding luminosity estimate of for the candidate LBV 1806-20. Furthermore, based on very high
angular-resolution speckle images, we determine that LBV 1806-20 is not a
cluster of stars, but is rather a single star or binary system. Simple
arguments based on the Eddington luminosity lead to an estimate of the total
mass of LBV 1806-20 (single or binary) exceeding . We discuss
the possible uncertainties in these results, and their implications for the

Bump start needed: linking guidelines, policy and practice in promoting physical activity during and beyond pregnancy
First paragraph: There is compelling evidence that regular physical activity (PA) during pregnancy benefits both mother and baby.1 2 Notably, physical and psychological benefits are evident in the literature, such as marked reductions in the development of gestational diabetes and hypertensive disorders, alongside improvements in depressive symptoms and cardiorespiratory fitness.1 2 The evidence base has been reflected by recent policy initiatives, for example, in 2017 (relaunched in 2019), the UK‘s chief medical officers (CMOs) published PA guidelines for pregnant women, which made substantial strides in unifying and translating the evidence into recommendations.1 The CMO guidelines are aimed at supporting health professionals to provide consistent, evidence-based PA messages to women throughout pregnancy.1 Recently, the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity have updated their professional standards for working with antenatal and postnatal clients to align with these CMO guidelines.3 However, not all women have access to professionals with this level of expertise and training, potentially limiting the impact of the CMO guidelines
The significance of 'the visit' in an English category-B prison: Views from prisoners, prisoners' families and prison staff
A number of claims have been made regarding the importance of prisoners staying in touch with their family through prison visits, firstly from a humanitarian perspective of enabling family members to see each other, but also regarding the impact of maintaining family ties for successful rehabilitation, reintegration into society and reduced re-offending. This growing evidence base has resulted in increased support by the Prison Service for encouraging the family unit to remain intact during a prisoner’s incarceration. Despite its importance however, there has been a distinct lack of research examining the dynamics of families visiting relatives in prison. This paper explores perceptions of the same event – the visit – from the families’, prisoners’ and prison staffs' viewpoints in a category-B local prison in England. Qualitative data was collected with 30 prisoners’ families, 16 prisoners and 14 prison staff, as part of a broader evaluation of the visitors’ centre. The findings suggest that the three parties frame their perspective of visiting very differently. Prisoners’ families often see visits as an emotional minefield fraught with practical difficulties. Prisoners can view the visit as the highlight of their time in prison and often have many complaints about how visits are handled. Finally, prison staff see visits as potential security breaches and a major organisational operation. The paper addresses the current gap in our understanding of the prison visit and has implications for the Prison Service and wider social policy
Straightening of Thermal Fluctuations in Semi-Flexible Polymers by Applied Tension
We investigate the propagation of a suddenly applied tension along a
thermally excited semi-flexible polymer using analytical approximations,
scaling arguments and numerical simulation. This problem is inherently
non-linear. We find sub-diffusive propagation with a dynamical exponent of 1/4.
By generalizing the internal elasticity, we show that tense strings exhibit
qualitatively different tension profiles and propagation with an exponent of

Stellar populations across the NGC4244 truncated galactic disk
We use HST/ACS to study the resolved stellar populations of the nearby,
nearly edge-on galaxy NGC4244 across its outer disk surface density break. The
stellar photometry allows us to study the distribution of different stellar
populations and reach very low equivalent surface brightnesses. We find that
the break occurs at the same radius for young, intermediate age, and old stars.
The stellar density beyond the break drops sharply by a factor of at least 600
in 5 kpc. The break occurs at the same radius independent of height above the
disk, but is sharpest in the midplane and nearly disappears at large heights.
These results make it unlikely that truncations are caused by a star formation
threshold alone: the threshold would have to keep the same radial position from
less than 100 Myr to 10 Gyr ago, in spite of potential disturbances such as
infall and redistribution of gas by internal processes. A dynamical
interpretation of truncation formation is more likely such as due to angular
momentum redistribution by bars or density waves, or heating and stripping of
stars caused by the bombardment of dark matter sub-halos. The latter
explanation is also in quantitative agreement with the small diffuse component

Observed Consequences of Presupernova Instability in Very Massive Stars
This chapter concentrates on the deaths of very massive stars, the events
leading up to their deaths, and how mass loss affects the resulting death. The
previous three chapters emphasized the theory of wind mass loss, eruptions, and
core collapse physics, but here we emphasize mainly the observational
properties of the resulting death throes. Mass loss through winds, eruptions,
and interacting binaries largely determines the wide variety of different types
of supernovae that are observed, as well as the circumstellar environments into
which the supernova blast waves expand. Connecting these observed properties of
the explosions to the initial masses of their progenitor stars is, however, an
enduring challenge and is especially difficult for very massive stars.
Superluminous supernovae, pair instability supernovae, gamma ray bursts, and
"failed" supernovae are all end fates that have been proposed for very massive
stars, but the range of initial masses or other conditions leading to each of
these (if they actually occur) are still very certain. Extrapolating to infer
the role of very massive stars in the early universe is essentially

Phenomenological model for the remanent magnetization of dilute quasi-one-dimensional antiferromagnets
We present a phenomenological model for the remanent magnetization at low
temperatures in the quasi-one-dimensional dilute antiferromagnets
CH_{3}NH_{3}Mn_{1-x}Cd_{x} Cl_{3}\cdot 2H_{2}O and
(CH_{3})_{2}NH_{2}Mn_{1-x}Cd_{x}Cl_{3}\cdot 2H_{2}O. The model assumes the
existence of uncompensated magnetic moments induced in the odd-sized segments
generated along the Mn(^{2+}) chains upon dilution. These moments are further
assumed to correlate ferromagnetically after removal of a cooling field. Using
a (mean-field) linear-chain approximation and reasonable set of model
parameters, we are able to reproduce the approximate linear temperature
