    A Matemática sempre caminhou ao lado da Arte. A criatividade, a beleza e o dinamismo são algumas das qualidades que associamos à Arte, mas também à Matemática. A obra de M. C. Escher é mais um exemplo de como as imagens (Arte) podem limar o entendimento de temas complexos da Matemática. A obra deste artista pode ser dividida em quatro períodos diferentes: “paisagens”, “metamorfoses”, “gravuras subordinadas à perspetiva” e “aproximação ao infinito”, destacando-se os últimos três numa fase da sua vida após 1937. Apresenta-se uma pequena descrição de cada um destes períodos da sua vida e como se relacionam com a Matemática

    The customer satisfaction-customer loyalty relationship: Reassessing customer and relational characteristics moderating effects

    Purpose – This study aims to examine the moderating effects of gender, income, age, customer involvement and length of the relationship on the customer satisfaction (CS)-customer loyalty (CL) relationship in a contractual service context. CL is assessed using customer repurchase intention (RI) and repurchase behavior (RB). Design/methodology/approach – Using a postal mail survey, the authors measure the CS, RI involvement and socio-demographic characteristics of customers who use a credit card. RB is measured by the number of transactions and the corresponding amount spent by clients, based on data provided by the company. The proposed hypotheses are tested using random sampling and hierarchical regressions. Findings – The significant moderators are different depending on the CL measure used. When RI is utilized, the gender and age of the client have a positive effect on the CS-CL relationship. However, when RB is assessed using the number of transactions made by the credit card’s owner, the length of the relationship becomes the significant moderator. Research limitations/implications – The study is limited to a single firm, from one industry sector, but provides future researchers a multitude of replication opportunities. Practical implications – Demographic and relational variables are important in explaining the CS-CL relationship. Customer relationship strategies have positive results. RB is preferred to RI when evaluating and explaining CL. Originality/value – The assessment of customer and relational characteristics as moderating variables in the CS-CL relationship, and comparing different measures of CL in a contractual service adds value to this research.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    A perspective on ICT Portuguese teacher’s lifelong training

    "7th International Technology, Education and Development Conference, Valencia, Spain. 4-5 March, 2013"This paper reports the findings of a study conducted on an interactive whiteboards lifelong training program. A questionnaire evaluating ICT literacy, as well as the level of satisfaction of teachers regarding the type of training program they had attended was driven at the end of the training program. After nine months of its implementation, twenty Mathematics teachers were contacted again to conduct another survey on the applicability of the training program they had attended in order to know/understand the possible changes in their teaching practices. The goal of the study was to investigate the influence of ICT training in changing the teachers' practices in primary and secondary education, analyzing the effectiveness of the program in the integration of technologies as learning tools in the classroom. This study aims at an improvement of the practices adopted by trainers and the search for effective training models implemented in the lifelong education of teachers. We conclude that most teachers without specific training according TPACK's model only used interactive whiteboard as supported didactic, replicating the more traditional education. As main reasons reported for not using ICT in the classroom relate to inadequate training in the use of technology, lack of technical knowledge and lack of time to plan activities which integrate ICT. Teachers pointed very high theoretical component and after-work schedule as the most significant disadvantages for lifelong training. After this experience, teachers reported as useful or very useful the training, an increase in their self-esteem to use educational technologies and it was reported a small increase in the number of teachers who always use ICT in the classroom

    Um estudo sobre os motivos de consulta e a qualidade das condutas médicas da atenção primária à saúde brasileira

    Justificativa: A Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS) brasileira se organiza através da estratégia saúde da família (ESF) a 25 anos. A ESF cobre atualmente 63% da população nacional. Porém, ainda não há estudos nacionais sobre quais os motivos que levam a população a buscar cuidado na APS. Além disso, existem poucas pesquisas que avaliaram a qualidade do cuidado prestado a partir de recortes estratégicos, como doenças crônicas e ações preventivas. Esse estudo buscou identificar os motivos de consulta na estratégia saúde da família e suas diferenças de acordo com características individuais, do município e da região do país. Também se prestou a avaliar a adequação das ações preventivas realizadas pelas equipes da ESF em relação as orientações governamentais e as evidências científicas. Métodos: Esta pesquisa compõe o “Projeto de Avaliação do Programa Mais Médicos”, um estudo transversal descritivo e analítico de caráter nacional realizado entre julho e dezembro de 2016. Resultados: Foram avaliadas 6.160 consultas, destas foram codificados 8046 motivos de consulta, que representavam 388 diferentes códigos da Classificação Internacional de Atenção Primária (CIAP). A média de motivos de consulta foi de 1,3 por usuário. O motivo de consulta mais frequente foi avaliação de resultados de exames (_60), seguido de solicitação de prescrição (_50) e de ações preventivas (A98). Apenas 7 códigos CIAP correspondem a 50% de todos os motivos de consultas. Há pouca mudança na frequência dos motivos de consulta de acordo com as regiões do país. Foi rara a classificação de códigos relacionados a saúde mental e a problemas sociais frente a prevalências dos transtornos mentais comuns e à realidade socioeconômica do país. Por outro lado, as ações preventivas tiveram alta frequência indicando acesso facilitado para pessoas saudáveis. Neste recorte, encontrou-se que a cobertura de rastreamento para câncer de colo e mama está acima do esperado, 50% e 9% respectivamente. O foco dos exames é inadequado; 24%, 47% e 54% dos rastreamentos para câncer de colo, útero e próstata (respectivamente) foram feitos fora da faixa etária recomendada. E apenas 30% dos tabagistas foram abordados para tratamento. Conclusão: Os resultados apontam uma baixa abrangência, resolutividade e qualidade das ações das equipes da ESF. Estes achados servem de substrato para uma revisão da política nacional de atenção primária, como por exemplo: uma carteira de serviços que favoreça maior abrangência de ações, outras formas de financiamento (apontando e valorizando critérios de qualidade) e revisão da formação profissional afim de se adequar a este ponto de atenção.Background: Primary Health Care (PHC) in Brazil is organized through the family health strategy (ESF) since 1994. The ESF teams currently covers 63% of the population. However, there are no national studies that investigate the reasons that lead the population to seek care in PHC. In addition, there is little research that has evaluated the quality of care provided from strategic cut-outs such as chronic diseases and preventive interventions. This study sought to identify the reasons for encounters in the ESF teams and their differences according to individual, municipality and regions characteristics, as well as to evaluate the adequacy of the preventive interventions carried out by ESF teams in relation to government guidelines and evidence scientific. Methods: This study is part of a national crosssectional descriptive and analytical study conducted between July and December 2016 in Brazil. Results: Of 6160 encounters, a total of 8046 reasons for encounters (RFEs) were coded, which represented 388 different codes of the International Classification of Primary Care 2 (CIAP). Each user had a mean of 1.30 RFEs and only seven reasons accounted for 50% of all RFEs. RFEs did not vary significantly by geographic region. There was a high frequency of codes related to test results (ICPC-2 code _60 - first RFE), medication renewal (ICPC-2 code _50 - second RFE), and preventive medicine (ICPC-2 code A98 - third RFE). RFEs related to psychological and social problems were almost non-existent in contrast with the country reality. An important finding was that ‘health maintenance/prevention’ (A98) was among the most common RFEs, indicating that healthy users have easy access. Another finding was that screening coverage for cervical cancer and breast is higher than expected, 50% and 9% respectively. The exams focus was inadequate also, 24%,47% and 54% of cervical, breast and prostate screening were made outside of the recommended age range. Only 30% of smokers were treatment-oriented. Conclusion: The results indicate a low comprehensive and quality of the ESF teams. These findings serve as a substrate for reviewing important aspects of the national primary care policy, including a new portfolio of the services that favours comprehensiveness, financing criteria that value quality interventions and better professional training, appropriate to PHC

    Protective and vulnerability factors of municipal workers' mental health: a cross-sectional study

    Work is fundamental to an individual's mental health; however, an unfavourable work environment can lead to mental health problems. Despite existing studies addressing workers' mental health, it is essential to understand the reality of specific contexts to design effective tailored interventions. Thus, this study aimed to examine the influence of potential protective and vulnerability factors on municipal workers' depressive symptoms, anxiety and stress levels, and burnout. A cross-sectional study was conducted with data collection performed between July and December 2021 using online self-report measures. The sample comprised 115 municipal workers. The findings revealed that psychological vulnerability is a significant vulnerability factor for the presence of mental health symptoms. In addition, job satisfaction was found to be a significant protective factor for depressive symptoms, anxiety, and burnout of the municipal workers. The results of this study enhance the understanding of factors that influence worker mental health, which may facilitate the proper planning of specific interventions to promote mental health in the workplace.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Publisher Copyright: © 2022 by the authors.Vibrios are ubiquitous bacteria in aquatic systems, especially marine ones, and belong to the Gammaproteobacteria class, the most diverse class of Gram-negative bacteria. The main objective of this review is to update the information regarding the ecology of Vibrio species, and contribute to the discussion of their potential risk in a changing environment. As heterotrophic organisms, Vibrio spp. live freely in aquatic environments, from marine depths to the surface of the water column, and frequently may be associated with micro- and macroalgae, invertebrates, and vertebrates such as fish, or live in symbiosis. Some Vibrio spp. are pathogenic to humans and animals, and there is evidence that infections caused by vibrios are increasing in the world. This rise may be related to global changes in human behavior (increases in tourism, maritime traffic, consumption of seafood, aquaculture production, water demand, pollution), and temperature. Most likely in the future, Vibrio spp. in water and in seafood will be monitored in order to safeguard human and animal health. Regulators of the microbiological quality of water (marine and freshwater) and food for human and animal consumption, professionals involved in marine and freshwater production chains, consumers and users of aquatic resources, and health professionals will be challenged to anticipate and mitigate new risks.publishersversionpublishe

    Uma cultura de projectos conduz a escola a assumir o papel duma organização com identidade própria. Um currículo uniforme, igual para todos os alunos do país, não responde às especificidades de cada comunidade educativa. Surgindo então a necessidade de uma gestão flexível do currículo. Neste artigo, temos como propósito evidenciar a importância da cultura de projectos, começando por definir um projecto, quais as principais características do trabalho de projecto, apresentar o projecto em causa desenvolvido numa turma do 10º ano do curso profissional de Terras de Bouro intitulado “Painel da Estatística”, evidenciar a interdisciplinaridade do mesmo e a cooperação presente, assim como mostrar os produtos finais desenvolvidos pelos alunos (poster a ser divulgado à comunidade educativa) e reflectir sobre a utilização do blog em todo este processo

    Ensinar Matemática com TIC: em busca de um referencial teórico

    A integração da tecnologia no processo de ensino/aprendizagem não tem trazido grande sucesso educativo, tendo-se constatado que o apetrechamento das escolas com ferramentas educativas não é uma solução por si só. Tornase necessário refletir sobre esta integração, surgindo um modelo teórico que interliga três componentes (pedagogia, tecnologia e conteúdo) com o contexto em que se está inserido. No caso particular da Matemática, este referencial denomina-se de TPACK matemático e desenvolve-se em torno de quatro grandes áreas: conceção e desenvolvimento de experiências e ambientes digitais de aprendizagem; ensino, aprendizagem e currículo matemático; análise e avaliação; produtividade e prática profissional. No entanto, não há uma aquisição imediata do TPACK por parte dos professores de Matemática, precisando de passar por um processo de cinco etapas para enfrentarem a decisão final de aceitar ou rejeitar uma tecnologia específica para o ensino da Matemática.The integration of technology in the teaching/learning process hasn’t brought great success to education because it was found that the equipment of schools with educational tools is not a solution in itself. It is necessary to reflect about this integration, emerging a theoretical model that links three components (pedagogy, technology and content) to the context in which it is inserted. In the particular case of Mathematics, this reference is called Mathematics TPACK and is developed around four major areas: designing and developing digital-age learning environments and experiences; teaching, learning and the mathematics curriculum; assessment and evaluation; productivity and professional practice. However, there isn’t an immediate acquisition of TPACK by Mathematics teachers; they need to go through a five step process to face the final decision to accept or reject a particular technology for Mathematics teaching.L’intégration de la technologie dans le processus d’enseignement/apprentissage n’a pas apporté beaucoup de succès à l’éducation, on constate que l’équipement des écoles des outils pédagogiques n’est pas une solution en soi. Il est nécessaire de tenir compte de cette intégration, ayant émergé un nouveau modèle théorique qui lie trois composantes (la pédagogie, la technologie et le contenu) au contexte dans lequel elle est insérée. Dans le cas particulier de la Mathématique, cette référence est appelé le TPACK de la mathématique qui se développe autour de quatre grands domaines: l›expérience de conception et de développement de ressources éducatifs digitales et d›environnements numériques de l›apprentissage; l›enseignement, l›apprentissage des programmes de mathématiques; l›analyse et l›évaluation; et la pratique et la productivité professionnelle.
