A (p,q)-extension of Srivastava's triple hypergeometric function HB and its properties

    Get PDF
In this paper, we obtain a (p,q)-extension of Srivastava's triple hypergeometric function HB(⋅), by using the extended Beta function Bp,q(x,y) introduced by Choi et al. (2014). We give some of the main properties of this extended function, which include several integral representations involving Exton's hypergeometric function, the Mellin transform, a differential formula, recursion formulas and a bounded inequality. In addition, a new integral representation of the extended Srivastava triple hypergeometric function involving Laguerre polynomials is obtained.</p

A derivation of two transformation formulas contiguous to that of Kummer’s second theorem via a differential equation approach

The purpose of this note is to provide an alternative proof of two transformation formulas contiguous to that of Kummer’s second transformation for the confluent hypergeometric function 1F1 using a differential equation approach

A note on a hypergeometric transformation formula due to Slater with an application

    Get PDF
In this note we state (with minor corrections) and give an alternative proof of a very general hypergeometric transformation formula due to Slater. As an application, we obtain a new hypergeometric transformation formula for a 5F4(−1) series with one pair of parameters differing by unity expressed as a linear combination of two 3F2(1) series

On a new class of summation formulae involving the Laguerre polynomial

    Get PDF
By elementary manipulation of series, a general transformation involving the generalized hypergeometric function is established. Kummer’s first theorem, the classical Gauss summation theorem and the generalized Kummer summation theorem due to Lavoie et al. [Generalizations of Whipple’s theorem on the sum of a 3 F 2, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 72 (1996), pp. 293–300] are then applied to obtain a new class of summation formulae involving the Laguerre polynomial, which have not previously appeared in the literature. Several related results due to Exton have also been given in a corrected form

An extension of Saalschütz's summation theorem for the series <i>r</i>+3F<i>r</i>+2

    Get PDF
The aim in this research note is to provide an extension of Saalschütz's summation theorem for the series r+3Fr+2(1) when r pairs of numeratorial and denominatorial parameters differ by positive integers. The result is obtained by exploiting a generalization of an Euler-type transformation recently derived by Miller and Paris [Transformation formulas for the generalized hypergeometric function with integral parameter differences. Rocky Mountain J Math. 2013;43, to appear]

A (p, ν)-extension of the Appell function F1(·) and its properties

    Get PDF
In this paper, we obtain a (p, v)-extension of the Appell hypergeometric functionF1(·), together with its integral representation, by using the extended Beta functionBp,v(x, y) introduced in [9]. Also, we give some of its main properties, namely theMellin transform, a differential formula, recursion formulas and a bounded inequality. In addition, some new integral representations of the extended Appell functionF1,p,v(·) involving Meijer’s G-function are obtained

Nonlocal compensation of pure phase objects with entangled photons

We suggest and demonstrate a scheme for coherent nonlocal compensation of pure phase objects based on two-photon polarization and momentum entangled states. The insertion of a single phase object on one of the beams reduces the purity of the state and the amount of shared entanglement, whereas the original entanglement can be retrieved by adding a suitable phase object on the other beam. In our setup polarization and momentum entangled states are generated by spontaneous parametric downconversion and then purified using a programmable spatial light modulator, which may be also used to impose arbitrary space dependent phase functions to the beams. As a possible application, we suggest and demonstrate a quantum key distribution protocol based on nonlocal phase compensation.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure
