Prompted by increased concern about cooperative governance, the study was conducted to analyze the governance architecture, the governance models applied and the factors determining the choice of the application of the models using data obtained from 114(99 male and 15 female) respondents from four  of Primary Agricultural cooperatives in Ilu Galan District. The study focuses on the governance architecture, six governance models (Democratic, Compliance, Partnership, Cooptation, Stakeholder and Rubber Stamp) and determining factors thematically organized in to seven themes: Teaming, leadership, Conflict of interest, Unnecessary intervention, legal, governance and education/training. The data analysis was made using descriptive statistics: percentage of frequency, weighted mean, standard deviation and ranking methods. The results identified that primary Agricultural cooperatives in the District have the poorly adapted governance architecture which cannot clearly show the governance framework or the four pillars (accountability, transparency, predictability and participation) and strategic leadership activities (the vision, mission, objectives and activities to be achieved in their plan and bylaw). The cooperatives hardly apply the principles of cooperatives in general and that of governance models in particular. Democratic, Co-optation, Rubber Stamp Models were the top three models that Primary Agricultural Cooperatives were implementing in the District. The data analyzed show that almost all the members of the cooperatives were confused with word “model†as a result of which governance related factors, lack of awareness/education/training, Teaming   and strategic leadership factors were the first four important factors in influencing the choice of the application of Cooperative Governance Model to Primary Agricultural Cooperatives in the District.  Therefore, the prescriptions for the cure also lie in bringing about improvement in these factors

Introduction Cerebellarglioblastomamultiforme (GBM) is a very uncommon adult lesion. We present a case of cerebellar GBM and review their clinical, imaging and pathological features.Case presentation We report the case of a 30 year-old Kenyan femalewith progressive headache and coordination deficits. A neurologic examination revealed the presence of cerebellar signs. Computed tomography (CT) demonstrated a well circumscribed, hemorrhagic lesion in the posterior fossa with minimalperilesionaloedemaand mild enhancement with contrast. On magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) the mass was hyperintense on T1-weighted, hypointense on T2-wieghted with minimal adjacent edema, showed blooming on gradient sequence and no restriction with diffusion. The mass had mild enhancement with gadolinium contrast. Suboccipitalcraniotomy was carried with pathologic examination revealing a highly cellular tumor with marked nuclear atypia, numerous mitoses and areas of necrosis. Conclusions We report an unusual case of cerebellargliobastoma with atypical imaging findings. Cerebellarglioblastoma multiforme should be considered in the differential diagnosis of a cerebellar mass lesion.Key words: Cerebellum, Glioblastoma, Posterior foss

    Convolutions of Certain Analytic Functions

Abstract. Ruscheweyh and Sheil-Small proved the Polya-Schoenberg conjecture that the classes of convex functions, starlike functions and close-to-convex functions are closed under convolution with convex functions. By making use of this result, the radii of starlikeness of order α, parabolic starlikeness, and strong starlikeness of order γ of the convolution between two starlike functions are determined. Similar convolution results for two classes of analytic functions are also obtained

The combined effect of elevation and meteorology on potato crop dynamics : a 10-year study in the Gamo Highlands, Ethiopia

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is an important crop in the Gamo Highlands in Ethiopia. The region is characterised by a complex topography with large inter-annual weather variations, where potatoes grow in a range of altitudes between 1,600 and 3,200 m above sea level (a.s.l.). Traditional large-scale crop modelling studies only crudely represent the effect of complex topography, misrepresenting spatial variability in meteorology and potato growth in the region. Here, we investigate how weather influenced by topography affects crop growth. We used the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model to simulate weather in relation to topography in coarse (54 km × 54 km) and fine (2 km × 2 km) resolution domains. The first has a resolution similar to those used by large-scale crop modelling studies that only crudely resolve the horizontal and vertical spatial effects of topography. The second realistically represents the most important topographical variations. The weather variables modelled in both the coarse and fine resolution domains are given as input to the GECROS model (Genotype-by-Environment interaction on CROp growth Simulator) to simulate the potato growth. We modelled potato growth from 2001 to 2010 and studied its inter-annual variability. This enabled us to determine for the first time in Ethiopia how variations in weather are linked to crop dynamics as a function of elevation at a fine resolution. We found that due to its finer representation of topography, weather and crop growth spatio-temporal variations were better represented in the fine than in the coarse resolution domain. The magnitude of crop growth variables such as Leaf Area Index (LAI) and Length of the Growing Season (LGS) obtained with weather from the coarse resolution domain were unrealistically low, hence unacceptable. Nevertheless, the resulting potato yields in the coarse resolution domain were comparable with the yields from the fine resolution domain. We explain this paradoxical finding in terms of a compensating effect, as the opposite effects of temperature and precipitation on yield compensated for each other along the major potato growing transect in the Gamo Highlands. These offsetting effects were also dependent on the correct estimations of the LGS, LAI. We conclude that a well-resolved representation of complex topography is crucial to realistically model meteorology and crop physiology in tropical mountainous areas

Contraception is a deterrent of the process of conception ovum by a sperm cell or the prevention of attachment of the ovum that had fertilized by sperm cell into the uterine wall. There are two types of contraceptives; hormonal and non-hormonal. The hormonal contraceptive is contraception that involves hormones in the process while non-hormonal does not involve any hormones. There are three ways in hormonal contraception, such as oral contraceptives containing estrogen and progesterone, injections and implants containing only progesterone. The variation of progesterone and estrogen in the contraceptives may affect the periodontal tissues, especially the increase of gingival inflammation. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of oral, injections, and implants contraceptives on the severity of gingivitis on the family planning acceptors in Puskesmas Kebonarum, Klaten Regency. The method used in this study was observational analytic by cross sectional approachment. The respondents of this study were 120 family planning acceptors aged 20-35 years in Puskesmas Kebonarum, Klaten Regency. The study was conducted in 27-31 May 2016. The sampling technique of this study was purposive sampling, in which, the respondents were asked about their contraceptive use and got explanation about the examination process. If they agreed to be respondent, they may sign the informed consent sheet. Then there was short counseling regarding dental and oral health related to the use of contraceptives. The examination in this study were Oral Hygiene Index (OHI) and gingival index (GI) in order to determine the gingivitis severity of the respondents. The result showed that there were 88 respondents with gingivitis. This study tested by using chi square test and obtained the value of p = 0.002 (p <0.05) to see the effect of oral, injections, and implants contraceptives on the severity of gingivitis. These data were analyzed by using SPSS 20.00 for windows. This study conclude that there was influence among users of oral contraceptives, injectable and implantable against the severity of gingivitis. Keywords: oral contraceptives, injectable contraceptives, contraceptive implants, severity of gingivitis

Charged particle decay of hot and rotating 88^{88}Mo nuclei in fusion-evaporation reactions

A study of fusion-evaporation and (partly) fusion-fission channels for the 88^{88}Mo compound nucleus, produced at different excitation energies in the reaction 48^{48}Ti + 40^{40}Ca at 300, 450 and 600 MeV beam energies, is presented. Fusion-evaporation and fusion-fission cross sections have been extracted and compared with the existing systematics. Experimental data concerning light charged particles have been compared with the prediction of the statistical model in its implementation in the Gemini++ code, well suited even for high spin systems, in order to tune the main model parameters in a mass region not abundantly covered by exclusive experimental data. Multiplicities for light charged particles emitted in fusion evaporation events are also presented. Some discrepancies with respect to the prediction of the statistical model have been found for forward emitted α\alpha-particles; they may be due both to pre-equilibrium emission and to reaction channels (such as Deep Inelastic Collisions, QuasiFission/QuasiFusion) different from the compound nucleus formation.Comment: 14 pages, 14 figure
