Risk of basal cell carcinoma after Hodgkin's disease
Background: Basal cell cancer is a common skin cancer, yet studies of second tumors after Hodgkin's disease tend to exclude basal cell cancers as second malignant tumors from analysis. Basal cell carcinomas (BCC) are possibly more common in immunosuppressed patients and were recently implicated as indicators of subsequent malignancies. Materials and Methods: Our database of 1,120 patients with Hodgkin's disease (derived from the tumor registry) was investigated for the occurrence of later BCCs. Kaplan-Meier curves were calculated. Results: A total of 9 cases of BCC were observed 0-20 years after the diagnosis of Hodgkin's disease, One case relapsed after excision. The probability of second BCC was 2.1% after 15 years of follow-up and 7.1% after 20 years. Statistically, the risk for second BCC was increased only in younger patients and with prolonged follow-up, but not in the total group of patients with Hodgkin's disease. Conclusion: BCC is not a major threat: for the survivors of Hodgkin's disease, but continued follow-up is necessary
Investigation of Stem Cell Applications on In Vitro Fertilization in Rats
ΔΕΝ ΔΙΑΤΙΘΕΤΑΙ ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗWe aimed to search the effects of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell-conditioned media on in vitro fertilization by investigation of lifetime of germ cells cleavage, degeneration rates and embryo quality. For this purpose, firstly MSCs were isolated from femurs and tibias of the rat, and cells were cultured until the fourth passage. Sperm and oocytes were collected from male and female rats. Oocytes were added in Human Tubal Fluid Media (HTFM), Single Step Media (SSM), Alpha-MEM Media (AMM) and Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Conditioned Media (CM). Thousand sperm were added into the media which including oocytes. Embryos were allowed to produce by IVF. The development of the embryos was followed until the 11th day, and the arrest, degeneration rates and alive embryos were established. The embryos reached 2, 4, 8, 16 cells stages and morula stage in the CM. While AMM had a negative effect on fertilization and embryo development, the most favourable effect was shown to be caused by CM in comparison with the other medias. These results have shown that the beneficial effects of CM in IVF would be a significant increase in the rate of fertility and development of embryos

First-principles calculations and experimental studies of: XYZ 2 thermoelectric compounds: Detailed analysis of van der Waals interactions
First-principles calculations can accelerate the search for novel high-performance thermoelectric materials. However, the prediction of the thermoelectric properties is strongly dependent on the approximations used for the calculations. Here, thermoelectric properties were calculated with different computational approximations (i.e., PBE-GGA, HSE06, spin-orbit coupling and DFT-D3) for three layered XYZ2 compounds (TmAgTe2, YAgTe2, and YCuTe2). In addition to the computations, the structural, electrical and thermal properties of these compounds were measured experimentally and compared to the computations. An enhanced prediction of the crystal structure and heat capacity was achieved with the inclusion of van der Waals interactions due to more accurate modeling of the interatomic forces. In particular, a large shift of the acoustic phonons and low-frequency optical phonons to lower frequencies was observed from the dispersion-optimized structure. From the phonon dispersion curves of these compounds, the ultralow thermal conductivity in the investigated XYZ2 compounds could be described by a recent developed minimum thermal conductivity model. For the prediction of the electrical conductivity, a temperature-dependent relaxation time was used, and it was limited by acoustic phonons. While HSE06 has only a small influence on the electrical properties due to a computed band gap energy of >0.25 eV, the inclusion of both van der Waals interactions and spin-orbit coupling leads to a more accurate band structure, resulting in better prediction of electrical properties. Furthermore, the experimental thermoelectric properties of YAgTe2, TmAg0.95Zn0.05Te2 and TmAg0.95Mg0.05Te2 were measured, showing an increase in zT of TmAg0.95Zn0.05Te2 by more than 35% (zT = 0.47 ± 0.12) compared to TmAgTe2
Critical Behavior of a Three-State Potts Model on a Voronoi Lattice
We use the single-histogram technique to study the critical behavior of the
three-state Potts model on a (random) Voronoi-Delaunay lattice with size
ranging from 250 to 8000 sites. We consider the effect of an exponential decay
of the interactions with the distance,, with , and
observe that this system seems to have critical exponents and
which are different from the respective exponents of the three-state Potts
model on a regular square lattice. However, the ratio remains
essentially the same. We find numerical evidences (although not conclusive, due
to the small range of system size) that the specific heat on this random system

A Proof Assistant Based Formalisation of a Subset of Sequential Core Erlang
We present a proof-assistant-based formalisation of a subset of Erlang, intended to serve as a base for proving refactorings correct. After discussing how we reused concepts from related work, we show the syntax and semantics of our formal description, including the abstractions involved (e.g. the concept of a closure). We also present essential properties of the formalisation (e.g. determinism) along with the summary of their machine-checked proofs. Finally, we prove expression pattern equivalences which can be interpreted as simple local refactorings
The effect of supersymmetric CP phases on Chargino-Pair Production via Drell-Yan Process at the LHC
We compute the rates for pp annihilation into chargino-pairs via Drell-Yan
process taking into account the effects of supersymmetric soft phases, at
proton-proton collider. In particular, the phase of the mu parameter gains
direct accessibility via the production of dissimilar charginos. The phases of
the trilinear soft masses do not have a significant effect on the cross

Multiagent cooperation for solving global optimization problems: an extendible framework with example cooperation strategies
This paper proposes the use of multiagent cooperation for solving global optimization problems through the introduction of a new multiagent environment, MANGO. The strength of the environment lays in itsflexible structure based on communicating software agents that attempt to solve a problem cooperatively. This structure allows the execution of a wide range of global optimization algorithms described as a set of interacting operations. At one extreme, MANGO welcomes an individual non-cooperating agent, which is basically the traditional way of solving a global optimization problem. At the other extreme, autonomous agents existing in the environment cooperate as they see fit during run time. We explain the development and communication tools provided in the environment as well as examples of agent realizations and cooperation scenarios. We also show how the multiagent structure is more effective than having a single nonlinear optimization algorithm with randomly selected initial points
Initial Semantics for Strengthened Signatures
We give a new general definition of arity, yielding the companion notions of
signature and associated syntax. This setting is modular in the sense requested
by Ghani and Uustalu: merging two extensions of syntax corresponds to building
an amalgamated sum. These signatures are too general in the sense that we are
not able to prove the existence of an associated syntax in this general
context. So we have to select arities and signatures for which there exists the
desired initial monad. For this, we follow a track opened by Matthes and
Uustalu: we introduce a notion of strengthened arity and prove that the
corresponding signatures have initial semantics (i.e. associated syntax). Our
strengthened arities admit colimits, which allows the treatment of the
