Resumen: En este artículo se va a ahondar en la narrativa criminal del autor mexicano Paco Ignacio Taibo II a través de la figura de su investigador principal: Héctor Belascoarán Shayne. Utilizando la conexión del hard boiled de los maestros norteamericanos con la realidad urbana y su inherente capacidad para la reflexión crítica sobre la problemática política y social, Taibo II adapta este discurso literario al caso de México para denunciar el entramado sistemático de prácticas ilegales que dirige el corrupto Gobierno mexicano: el auténtico culpable de esta situación. Con vistas a este propósito, crea a este investigador privado: un antihéroe cargado de una gran cantidad de referencias cómplices con el ciudadano medio mexicano que emprende una lucha feroz contra este sistema fallando una y otra vez. His objective is to expose the systematic network of illegal practices led by the corrupt Mexican government. The author conceives his private investigator as an antihero, closely resembling the average Mexicancitizen, who fails repeatedly in his fierce struggle against the system. As a result, the character establishes himself as a strong source of awareness-raising, as well as the perfect instrument for the expression of the citizen’s disappointment and frustration

Detecting Repetitions and Periodicities in Proteins by Tiling the Structural Space

The notion of energy landscapes provides conceptual tools for understanding the complexities of protein folding and function. Energy Landscape Theory indicates that it is much easier to find sequences that satisfy the "Principle of Minimal Frustration" when the folded structure is symmetric (Wolynes, P. G. Symmetry and the Energy Landscapes of Biomolecules. Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 1996, 93, 14249-14255). Similarly, repeats and structural mosaics may be fundamentally related to landscapes with multiple embedded funnels. Here we present analytical tools to detect and compare structural repetitions in protein molecules. By an exhaustive analysis of the distribution of structural repeats using a robust metric we define those portions of a protein molecule that best describe the overall structure as a tessellation of basic units. The patterns produced by such tessellations provide intuitive representations of the repeating regions and their association towards higher order arrangements. We find that some protein architectures can be described as nearly periodic, while in others clear separations between repetitions exist. Since the method is independent of amino acid sequence information we can identify structural units that can be encoded by a variety of distinct amino acid sequences

Una mirada al nivel actual de expresión escrita en Secundaria a través de un estudio de caso en Navarra

Faced with the enormous number of challenges that today's society demands, compulsory secondary education is not only the main field of learning the necessary skills to meet them, but also continues to act as a relevant instrument that generates job opportunities. Among these skills, those encompassed by linguistic competence occupy a space of special importance, especially in relation to written expression. However, contrary to what might be expected regarding the teaching hours dedicated to it, the reality shows a level of written expression that could be greatly improved for the second cycle of secondary education. This research work aims to offer an analysis of the most alarming errors in this area of ​​competence through a corpus study comprises a number of essays written by 4th-year students from a center in Navarra, carried out at the end of the 2020-2021 academic year in view of the prospect of the degree. All this with the aim not only to contribute as a documentary base to other works focused on the development of specific methodologies that help to reverse this situation, but also with the vocation of investigating the causes that have led to this reality.Ante la ingente cantidad de retos que la sociedad actual demanda, la educación secundaria obligatoria no solo constituye el principal campo de aprendizaje de las destrezas necesarias para satisfacerlos, sino que continúa actuando como un relevante instrumento generador de oportunidades laborales. Entre estas destrezas, las englobadas por la competencia lingüística ocupan un espacio de especial importancia, sobre todo en lo relativo a la expresión escrita. Sin embargo, al contrario de lo que cabría esperar teniendo en cuenta las horas lectivas que se le dedica, la realidad arroja un nivel de expresión escrita muy mejorable para el segundo ciclo de ESO. Este trabajo de investigación pretende ofrecer un análisis de los errores más recurrentes en esta área competencial a través de un estudio de corpus formado por redacciones de alumnos de 4º curso de un centro de Navarra, realizadas a finales del curso 2020-2021 y ante la perspectiva de la titulación. Todo ello con el objetivo no solo de contribuir como base documental a otros trabajos enfocados al desarrollo de metodologías específicas que ayuden a revertir esta situación, sino con la vocación también de indagar en las causas que han propiciado esta realidad

Personajes femeninos, padrotes y prostitución de menores en la novela Amorosos fantasmas de Paco Ignacio Taibo II.

Amorosos fantasmas es una novela escrita por Paco Ignacio Taibo II que pertenece al género policíaco y que fue publicada en el año 1989. La sexta entrega de su saga detectivesca más representativa, la protagonizada por el investigador Héctor Belascoarán Shayne, narra la pesquisa en torno al asesinato de una joven menor de edad, llamada Virginia, después de intentar escapar de un entramado criminal, ubicado en la Ciudad de México y dedicado a la prostitución de menores, que, con la mediación de un padrote, la pretendía captar. Este trabajo demuestra que, como en toda la narrativa policíaca del autor mexicano, en la que la fórmula literaria está siempre orientada hacia la denuncia política y social, la novela destila casi a cada página desencanto y frustración ante la injusticia social y la explotación de los ciudadanos más desfavorecidos y expuestos a los excesos del corrupto sistema priísta. En este caso, la corrosiva denuncia de Taibo II focaliza sobre temas como la violencia hacia la mujer y la explotación sexual femenina en el entorno urbano a través, en primer lugar, de los personajes femeninos más relevantes de la novela: las víctimas Virginia y Laura. Y, en segundo lugar, del análisis de un arquetipo social de gran arraigo en México: el del padrote, encarnado por el personaje de Manuel. Dedicado a la captación de sexo servidoras, en muchas ocasiones menores de edad, y a la intermediación entre estas y el cliente, la novela destapa los engranajes de este lucrativo sistema de abuso y dominación. Unlike countries like United Kingdom, France or The United States, Spain never had a remarkable tradition in the field of Crime Fiction. This lack of solid tradition was the consequence of different causes like censorship, a bad consideration at editorial level and the lack of a deep industrial revolution which brings the urban conflicts which make this type of literature emerge. With the arrival of the democratic Transition, these transformations took place and, as a consequence of this, Spanish Crime Fiction experiments and amazing development born, precisely, with the aim of building up a critical portrait over this political phenomenon and its most relevant milestones taking the hard boiled literary trend from the North American authors as model.
