This research has wanted to study, to analyse and to revise the different focuses of study, works and investigations and its contributions in the educational world in reference to the three theoretical axes that configure the work. · Computer science to service of the education like due of learning processes. · Construction of conditional or strategic knowledge. · Instructional design of environments of learning hypermedia. Concepts and focuses starting from those with which to begin proposals of change toward a new conception in the construction of knowledge in environments multimedia. The objective corresponding to the part of empiric research seeks basically to explore through a comparative experimental design, if the use of a textual format, starting from an electronic documentation, in form of program hipermedia, is more effective than a printed documentation in the learning of the worked content, the life and production of Mario Benedetti, with novice users in the content. At the same time that we analyse as three types of pedagogic help in format of questions of different cognitive demands (reproductive, inferencials and metacognition) include them in the web favors a learning more strategic of the thematic. We was wanted to know, also, if differences existed in the type of strategies used during the study of the content and to know the perceptions of the attribution of difficulties to solve with success the task and the graphic representation that they make of the topic
This paper presents a methodology, based on Mikhail M. Bakhtin's approach to the study of narrative, as a tool to analyze the processes of cultural change in minority groups. In particular, we analyze the multiple voices that are present in the statements of members of Roma communities when they talk about and express their culture. Roma communities are displayed in a process of profound cultural shift and where different voices have a dialog, some voices come from cultural tradition, other voices come from models of the dominant social group, and other voices come from the attempt to compromise between them. This multivoicedness is the playing field between minority and majority groups, movements of dialogue happen, assimilations, resistances, creating new cultural differences and hybridization. So, a scene is developed in a constant process of change in which daily practices often must respond to different and even contradictory goals, and in which different voices are intertwined in the process of constructing new identities.
The analysis of the experience highlights two key elements of service learning: a) the project promotes the social return of the university to society, responding to real needs through educational intervention that is developed under the frame of research projects; b) promotes, in college students, the acquisition of knowledge and the development of its own training curriculum skills through participation in a real project and community involvement. After 16 years, with a participation each year between 110 and 140 UAB students and between 250 and 300 children from different ethnic minorities, we can describe the potential that the project offers to each of its participant
Following the trail of the 5th dimension : learning from contradictions in a university-community partnership
Over the past 20 years, our research group has developed a set of action research projects inspired by the Laboratory of Comparative Human Cognition's Fifth Dimension. In this article, we analyze their historical trajectories by examining their sustainability from the perspective of the experiment by design, as developed by Michael Cole. Taking the motives and contradictions of all partners involved as a starting point, we present a brief analysis of the development of three sites throughout more than 12 years of their existence, revealing the construction of a third space in which the university and the school community pursue their respective goal
Internet search and navigation strategies used by experts and beginners
This paper presents three pilot studies whose purpose was to analyse the way different users (experts and beginners) go about searching for specific information, both on the Internet in general and in a thematic web site in particular. It discusses the role of prior knowledge in achieving the search objectives, and highlights the differences in task completion due to the use of approaches of varying levels of strategic development
La escuela vista por las familias. : Proyecto migratorio frente a construcción minoritaria
While most students belonging to certain immigrant communities have a school achievement similar to native students, other groups have alarming rates of school failure, absenteeism and early drop out. Cultural Psychology noted that academic difficulties in members of certain minority groups are largely related to discontinuities in values, motives and goals between families and school. We present an action - research project, carried out in a participatory approach. The present study is part of a broader educational intervention in which UAB researchers collaborate with schools and other organizations in developing programs oriented to educational inclusion of minority groups' members. School mediators, as part of the studied communities, have participated in focus groups before conducting interviews with families in their communities. The data obtained from focus groups and interviews were analyzed by qualitative approac
School failure and early drop out is an important issue in our country (Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura, 2012) especially in certain mi-nority groups (Fernández - Enguita, Mena y Riviere, 2010). In that paper, we analyse the contradictions between the school and the Roma communities and how these contradictions are affecting the participation of these communities in school. It is proposed and discussed the experience of an educational intervention model that favours the creation of an own microculture and promotes inclusive education based on the recognition of cultural diversi-ty in different contexts of socialization. Finally, we discuss the results of implementing this model and we offer new suggestions for improvement, to contribute to the creation of a school that more than being called intercultural it really is
Education as the creation of microcultures. From the local community to the virtual network
This article presents the work undertaken by a multidisciplinary group, comprising researchers from the fields of psychology, education and technology, as we set about developing new virtual tools for collaborative learning. We began from our experience acquired in learning communities based on the "Fifth Dimension" model, in which ICTs are used in a collaborative fashion. The work undertaken with members of ethnic minority groups in communities of this type underlies the theoretical and practical development of the foundations for intercultural education. Finally, we describe the process by which we constructed virtual tools that can be appropriated from a wide variety of contexts
