Recent incidents regarding food frauds, like the melamine case in dairy products, may have acted as a trigger point for the arousal of concerns about consumer product safety. One of the most common food frauds is the adulteration of a product by replacing an expensive component with other cheaper and/or lower health beneficial components. Nuts are sometimes the target of this kind of practices, usually in bakery products where manufacturers adulterate almond flours with peanut, hazelnut or other cheaper nuts, which does not only imply and economic fraud, but also a health issue, as the unspecified ingredient may cause allergies in the consumer. In this work, HPLC-UV chromatographic fingerprints were recorded, following a previously developed method in the research group used for polyphenol analysis, in order to achieve identification and quantification of adulteration levels in almond and almond custard cream samples adulterated with peanut or hazelnut, using chemometric methods such as principal component analysis (PCA) and partial least squares (PLS). Moreover, HPLC-FL fingerprinting was also evaluated to see if fluorescence detection could offer better chemical descriptors to achieve sample classification and authentication according to the different nut types than the one obtained by ultraviolet-visible detection, as well as a better quantification of adulteration levels in the same adulterated almond and almond custard cream samples. In the end, HPLC-FL fingerprinting combined with chemometrics was proposed as the best option and as a suitable strategy to address nut product classification, as well as identification and quantification of nut frauds by means of adulteration

“Guerreras del Deporte”. Proyecto de creación de un canal de YouTube sobre deporte femenino

En los últimos años, se ha visto como YouTube se ha convertido en una alternativa al periodismo tradicional, sobre todo en el ámbito del periodismo deportivo. La crisis económica y la precariedad laboral han obligado a una gran cantidad de profesionales a migrar hacia esta plataforma digital para desarrollar un periodismo emprendedor, alejado de los cánones impuestos por los grandes medios. Asimismo, en relación con el deporte femenino, se ha observado un aumento del interés por el deporte femenino en la sociedad, ya que a lo largo del año 2019 se dieron algunos de los mejores datos en cuanto a audiencia y asistencia a eventos deportivos en los que participaban mujeres. De este modo, al tratarse de un proyecto de carácter profesional, se ha realizado un canal de YouTube, cuyo objetivo principal es el de identificar y profundizar en los requerimientos de la plataforma de vídeo, a la vez que se responde a una necesidad social: la lucha por la igualdad entre hombres y mujeres. Para entender mejor este contexto y la situación que ha dado lugar al desarrollo de este trabajo, esta memoria incluye un amplio marco teórico que pone en antecedentes y sienta las bases previas para llevar a cabo este proyecto.In recent years, YouTube has been seen as an alternative to traditional journalism, especially in the field of sports journalism. The economic crisis and job insecurity have forced a large number of professionals to migrate to this digital platform in order to develop an enterprising journalism, far from the fees imposed by the big media. Likewise, in relation to women's sport, there has been an increase in the interest in women's sport in society, since throughout 2019 some of the best data was provided in terms of audience and attendance at sporting events in which women participated. Thus, as it is a professional project, a YouTube channel has been created, whose main objective is to identify and go deeper into the requirements of the video platform, while at the same time responding to a social need: the fight for equality between men and women. In order to better understand this context and the situation that has given rise to the development of this work, this report includes a broad theoretical framework that provides background information and lays the foundations for this project.Grado en Periodism

Capacidad de sobrecarga en líneas aéreas de alta tensión

El nuevo paradigma de redes eléctricas inteligentes requerirá, entre otras cosas, una gestión dinámica de la capacidad de transporte de las líneas eléctricas. El objetivo del presente proyecto será comparar diferentes textos que proporcionan métodos de cálculo del comportamiento térmico de los conductores, con el fin de analizar y contrastar entre los diferentes textos los principales factores que afectan a la capacidad de transporte de las líneas aéreas de alta tensión. Se desarrollará una herramienta informática que permita analizar de forma dinámica la posibilidad de sobrecarga de las mismas. Posteriormente se realizarán unos ejemplos de aplicación a casos reales. Este proyecto se divide en cuatro capítulos a lo largo de los cuales se describirá toda la teoría disponible, se analizará y se realizarán ejemplos sobre conductores reales. En el capítulo dos se estudiarán los tres documentos elegidos, analizando cada uno de ellos por separado, comparándolos y destacando las ventajas e inconvenientes de cada uno. Con esto se decidirá cuál de los documentos estudiados es más completo e idóneo para su posterior uso en el resto del estudio que se desarrollará en este proyecto. El documento seleccionado tras el estudio realizado en el capítulo dos será implementado con el software Matlab, por lo tanto, el capítulo 3 de este proyecto está destinado a realizar un manual de usuario de la herramienta implementada, explicando detalladamente su uso. Una vez seleccionado un documento y su posterior implementación, en el capítulo cuatro se realizarán ejemplos sobre varios conductores. Se utilizarán tres conductores de diferentes secciones, se estudiará su respuesta dinámica ante un escalón de corriente y posteriormente se realizarán simulaciones de sobrecarga para ver su comportamiento ante diferentes escenarios y determinar cuánto tiempo son capaces de soportarlo. El capítulo cinco está dedicado a comentar las conclusiones obtenidas tras realizar el proyecto así como a las futuras posibilidades de desarrollo y aplicación del trabajo realizado. The Internet in the field of Social Work: emerging forms of participation and socio-communitarian intervention

Internet constituye por sí mismo un medio de comunicación que altera modifica y reestructura los procesos de interacción y socialización de un individuo, grupo o sociedad. El progresivo uso de las herramientas comunicativas on-line (foros de discusión, listas de correo, IRC-chats, etc.), ha motivado por su propia funcionalidad y redefinido los patrones comunicativos ortodoxos en el espacio-tiempo. Aplicando este planteamiento al ámbito del Trabajo Social surgen cuestiones importantes tales como: ¿constituyen estas herramientas de comunicación virtuales un instrumento con el que fomentar y dinamizar la participación socio-comunitaria?, ¿podrían incluirse estas herramientas dentro de las propuestas metodológicas de intervención en el ámbito de Trabajo Social?, ¿qué papel jugará internet, y concretamente, las herramientas de comunicación on-line en el ámbito del Trabajo Social de las próximas décadas? El objetivo del presente artículo es abordar estas preguntas desde un punto de vista global y sistemático, analizando las ventajas y los inconvenientes que plantea actualmente el uso de las tecnologías de la información y comunicación (TICs) en el ámbito de Trabajo Social. Centramos la atención en la implicación, que históricamente ha tenido, y tiene la tecnológica en los procesos de participación ciudadana e intervención social, reflexionando sobre la potencialidad de estas herramientas para la práctica profesional. Se trata, en definitiva, de analizar la viabilidad que poseen los recursos tecnológicos comunicativos en el marco de las competencias profesionales de Trabajo Social.The Internet, in and of itself, constitutes a media that modifies and restructures the processes of interaction and socialization of an individual, group or society. The increasing use of online communication tools (Discussion Boards, LISTSERV email lists, IRC chats, etc.) has motivated, by their functionality, the redefinition of orthodox models of communication in space and time. By applying this concept to the field of Social Work, important questions arise, such as, Do these virtual tools of communication constitute an instrument with which to foment and invigorate socio-communitarian participation?, Could these tools be included within methodological proposals for intervention in the field of Social Work?, What role will the Internet, and more specifically, on-line tools of communication, play in Social Work in the coming decades? The objective of this paper is to address these questions globally and systematically, analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the use of Information and Communication Technologies («ICTs») in the field of Social Work. We focus attention on the implications that technology has, and historically has had, for the processes of public participation and social intervention, reflecting on the potentiality of these tools for professional practice. Diagnóstico e intervención 2.0: Posibilidades de la metodología online en trabajo social.

Through this article we reflect about the benefits of using Internet and virtual tools in the process of diagnosis and intervention in social work. In the first place we describe some of the main tools used in online research that could be involved in the process of social diagnosis. Later on; we analyze the use of some of them in the design and development of socio-communitarian projects. Similarly; we propose a categorization that classifies the forms of communication; diagnosis and intervention based on the possibilities of the virtual tool used and the position of the actors involved in the process of social transformation. Therefore; we would find the following categories: “One to one”; “One to All” and “All in All”. To illustrate what is theoretically argued; and that is explicit in the text; the authors provide different experiences framed in their own reflective practice. The objective of this work is contributing to the methodological and epistemological debate that is currently surrounding the discipline of social work; as well as continuing with the reflection about the incorporation of these virtual tools in improving the design and development of the daily practice of the social intervention professionals.Este artículo realiza un recorrido por las posibilidades que ofrece Internet y las herramientas virtuales en los procesos de diagnóstico e intervención para el trabajo social. Inicialmente se describen algunas de las principales herramientas de investigación online que intervienen en los procesos de diagnóstico, para centrarnos, posteriormente, en la utilidad de algunas de ellas en el diseño y desarrollo de proyectos de intervención social. De igual forma, proponemos una propuesta de categorización para la clasificación de las formas de comunicación, diagnóstico e intervención en función de las posibilidades de la herramienta virtual empleada, así como del posicionamiento de los actores que intervienen en el proceso de transformación social. Encontraremos, así, las siguientes categorías: “One to one”, “One to All” y “All in All”. Para ilustrar de forma argumentada lo que teóricamente se explicita en el texto, los autores acuden a diferentes experiencias enmarcadas en la práctica empírica reflexiva por parte de los mismos. Broadening the roles of UDP-glycosyltransferases in auxin homeostasis and plant development

The levels of the important plant growth regulator indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) are tightly controlled within plant tissues to spatiotemporally orchestrate concentration gradients that drive plant growth and development. Metabolic inactivation of bioactive IAA is known to participate in the modulation of IAA maxima and minima. IAA can be irreversibly inactivated by oxidation and conjugation to aspartate and glutamate. Usually overlooked because of its reversible nature, the most abundant inactive IAA form is the IAA-glucose (IAA-glc) conjugate. Glycosylation of IAA in Arabidopsis thaliana is reported to be carried out by UDP-glycosyltransferase 84B1 (UGT84B1), while UGT74D1 has been implicated in the glycosylation of the irreversibly formed IAA catabolite oxIAA. Here we demonstrated that both UGT84B1 and UGT74D1 modulate IAA levels throughout plant development by dual IAA and oxIAA glycosylation. Moreover, we identified a novel UGT subfamily whose members redundantly mediate the glycosylation of oxIAA and modulate skotomorphogenic growth
