Spectral and Steady-State Properties of Random Liouvillians
We study generic open quantum systems with Markovian dissipation, focusing on
a class of stochastic Liouvillian operators of Lindblad form with independent
random dissipation channels (jump operators) and a random Hamiltonian. We
establish that the global spectral features, the spectral gap, and the
steady-state properties follow three different regimes as a function of the
dissipation strength, whose boundaries depend on the particular quantity.
Within each regime, we determine the scaling exponents with the dissipation
strength and system size. We find that, for two or more dissipation channels,
the spectral gap increases with the system size. The spectral distribution of
the steady state is Poissonian at low dissipation strength and conforms to that
of a random matrix once the dissipation is sufficiently strong. Our results can
help to understand the long-time dynamics and steady-state properties of
generic dissipative systems.Comment: 21 pages, 11 figures. v2: minor corrections. v3: additional details,

The purpose of this study is to analyze the efficacy of the Phonological Awareness Digital Program (PADP) in typically developing preschool children aged 4 to 6 years. A randomized controlled trial was conducted with a total of 49 children assigned to two groups: the experimental group, EG (n=25) and the delayed control group, CG (n=24). Both groups were assessed before and after the implementation of the PADP. A follow-up study for the experimental group was also performed after two months. Outcome measures of phonological awareness skills (task 1: Syllable segmentation task; task 2: Syllable identification task; task3: Syllable omission task; task 4: Onset-rime units segmentation task; task 5: Phoneme segmentation task; task 6: Phoneme blending task) were evaluated at three
separate moments. The results showed significant improvement in phonological awareness skills for the EG between the first and the second assessments for all the tasks considered. Between the second and third assessment, the results showed a significant improvement for the CG. The follow-up study also demonstrated the PADP’s efficacy. The PADP has shown to be an effective program in promoting the development of phonological awareness in children. These findings provide evidence for different professionals to use PADP with preschool children.

Automation of machine learning models benchmarking
In the field of data science, ML is proving to be a core feature to solve complex real-world problems.
Businesses are investing in data science and ML teams to develop AI based models that can deliver
business value to their users. However, these models are only a small fraction of an ML project pipeline,
and to deliver an end to end ML product, a greater number of components are needed.
DevOps is an engineering mindset and a set of practices that aims to unify the development process
and the operation process on software. MlOps is a similar concept to DevOps but applicable to the
development and delivery of ML based solutions. The automation of the steps in a ML pipeline defines the
maturity of the ML process, reflecting the velocity of training new models given new data or training new
models given new implementations. An ML system is a software system that can support development,
provide continuous integration and continuous delivery apply to help guarantee that one can reliably build
and operate ML systems at scale.
The main objective of this thesis are to support the creation of an integrated ML system with an archi tecture that provides the ability to be continuously operated in a production-like environment. Furthermore,
a concept to evaluate the performance of algorithms shall be devised and implemented. The end goal is
to improve and accelerate the ML development lifecycle. To achieve this goal surges the need to define an
architecture alongside specifications and the implementation of several automated steps into an existing
ML pipeline. To improve and accelerate model development an model engine benchmark tool is devised
capable of several features, including the ability to have dashboards for model performance evaluation, an
automatic inference engine, performance metrics for the model and a database to store all the computed
metrics and metadata.
An AI-based system under development provides the case study to develop and validate this architec ture. The current advances of semi-automated driving introduce the need for monitoring systems to scan
and detect specific events in the vehicle. Sensor clusters are installed inside the vehicle cabin to feed
data to intelligent systems that aim to analyze and red flag certain behaviours that can potentially impact
passengers safety and comfort while using the vehicle
AbstractGorham's disease, also known as idiopathic massive osteolysis, is a rare pathological condition characterized by vascular proliferation that results in destruction and reabsorption of the bone matrix, of unknown etiology. It was first described by Jackson in 1838, but it was Gorham and Stout, in 1955, who defined this disease as a specific entity. It has variable clinical presentation and generally has progressive behavior. Controversy continues regarding the treatment and there is no standard treatment. This pathological condition generally presents a favorable prognosis. Here, a case of Gorham's disease with involvement of the left hip is presented, in a male patient without relevant antecedents
An agent-based simulator to estimate domestic energy use
Throughout recent years, there has been an increase in the population size, as well as
a fast economic growth, which has led to an increase of the energy demand that comes
mainly from fossil fuels. In order to reduce the ecological footprint, governments have
implemented sustainable measures and it is expected that by 2035 the energy produced
from renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar would be responsible for one-third
of the energy produced globally. However, since the energy produced from renewable
sources is governed by the availability of the respective primary energy source there is
often a mismatch between production and demand, which could be solved by adding
flexibility on the demand side through demand response (DR). DR programs influence
the end-user electricity usage by changing its cost along the time. Under this scenario the
user needs to estimate the energy demand and on-site production in advance to plan its
energy demand according to the energy price. This work focuses on the development of
an agent-based electrical simulator, capable of:
(a) estimating the energy demand and on-site generation with a 1-min time resolution for
a 24-h period,
(b) calculating the energy price for a given scenario,
(c) making suggestions on how to maximize the usage of renewable energy produced
on-site and to lower the electricity costs by rescheduling the use of certain appliances.
The results show that this simulator allows reducing the energy bill by 11% and almost
doubling the use of renewable energy produced on-site
