Architectural and Management Strategies for the Design, Construction and Operation of Energy Efficient and Intelligent Primary Care Centers in Chile

Primary care centers are establishments with elevated social relevance and high operational energy consumption. In Chile, there more than 628 family healthcare centers (CESFAM) have been built in the last two decades and with plans for hundreds more in the next few years. We revised the architecture, construction management and energy performance of five CESFAM centers to determine possible instances of overall improvement. Staff was interviewed, and state documents reviewed, which allowed the conceptualization of the architectonic and energy structure of the centers, as well as the process of implementation. At the same time, energy simulations were done for each one of the centers, controlling for different climates, construction solutions and orientations. Our study revealed that strategies employed by the primary healthcare centers in Chile have aided a progressive implementation of establishments with elevated costs and materialization times, as well as neglect for climatic conditions. These energy evaluations show relevant and consistent impacts of the architectural form and material conditions, especially in southern zones, demonstrating the need to work with shared knowledge resources such as BIM. There is a clear necessity to define technological, morphological and construction strategies specific to each climate zone in order to achieve energetically efficient and intelligent healthcare establishments

Unveiling some unknown jumping spiders (Araneae: Salticidae) from Argentina: descriptions of seven new species

We present a taxonomic study with descriptions of the following seven new species from Argentina: Ceriomura intaca sp. nov. (mmff) from Misiones; C. lacinia sp. nov. (mmff) from Misiones; Thiodina tefyta sp. nov. (mmff) from Salta, Tucumán and Córdoba; Lumptibiella demagistrisi sp. nov. (mmff) from Buenos Aires; Zygoballus chekokue sp. nov. (mmff) from Misiones and Corrientes; Akela scaloneta sp. nov. (mmff) from Misiones; and Philira toroi sp. nov. (mmff) from Jujuy. A new species of pachomius Peckham & Peckham (araneae: salticidae), inhabiting a river-bank of northern argentina

De acuerdo con su naturaleza, los ambientes riparios están representados en áreas reducidas; son vulnerables a las bajantes de agua y a las represas. Este documento describe e ilustra una nueva especie de araña saltarina, Pachomius palustris sp. nov., habitante de las plantas palustres sobre bancos del Río Paraná en el lado argentino. La nueva especie fue ubicada dentro del grupo dybowskii porque la hembra tiene el borde posterior de las aberturas copulatorias del epigino extendidas y el macho carece de apófisis subterminal lateral. Pachomius palustris sp. nov. se distingue de otras especies del grupo por tener un émbolo más fino y largo con la punta ligeramente curvada y las aberturas copulatorias con los bordes semi espiralados. También se discute una hipótesis sobre su probable distribución reducida.According to their nature, riparian environments are represented in reduced areas; they are vulnerable to water downspouts and dams. This paper describes and illustrates a new species of jumping spider, Pachomius palustris sp. nov., an inhabitant of the riparian vegetation from the Paraná River banks, in the Argentinian side. The new species was placed into the dybowskii group because the female has the posterior edge of epigynal copulatory openings extended and the male lacks the lateral subterminal apophysis. Pachomius palustris sp. nov. is distinguished from other species of this group by having a thinner and longer embolus with a slightly curved tip and copulatory openings with semi-spiral edges. Pachomius areteguazu sp. nov. (araneae: salticidae: freyina), and the first description of the epigynum of a member of the nigrus group

Our latest collections in northeastern Argentina include new species of jumping spiders (Salticidae) that indicate that the diversity of this group in Argentina is indeed underestimated. This paper describes and illustrates a new species, Pachomius areteguazu sp. nov., an inhabitant of the grasslands of northeastern Argentina. Within the genus Pachomius, this new species is placed in the nigrus group (Edwards 2015) because it has a sclerotized lateral subterminal apophysis (LSA) next to the embolus, spine-shaped, possibly derived by loss of the membranous part of the LSA. Previously no females in the nigrus group were known, so we also present the first description of an epigynum for this group and discuss its relationship to the LSA with respect to copulation.Fil: Rubio, Gonzalo Daniel. Two new genera and four new species of jumping spiders (Araneae: Salticidae: Dendryphantini)

The new genera Ahijuna gen. n. and Lumptibiella gen. n. (Araneae, Salticidae) including four new species, A. patoruzito sp. n., L. camporum sp. n., L. chacoensis sp. n. and L. paranensis sp. n., are described from specimens recently discovered in areas endangered by wildfires in Argentina. The species of these new genera share the typical structure of the genitalia with many Dendryphantini Menge. However, the combination of a distinct atrium on the anterior half of epigynal field for both genera, a small body size, flattened carapace shape, and a distinctive dorsal coloration pattern in the case of Ahijuna gen. n., and the possession of a lump-shaped process on the middle of the male tibia retrolateral side in the case of Lumptibiella gen. n., are not found in other Neotropical dendryphantine. Vähähiilisen puurakentamisen aluetaloudelliset vaikutukset Kymenlaaksossa ja Kouvolassa

Tutkimuksessa vertailtiin kolmea päiväkodin rakentamistapaa. Ensimmäisessä materiaalina käytetään mahdollisimman paljon puuta. Toisessa käytetään puun lisäksi soveltuvin osin myös betonia. Kolmas vaihtoehto on moduuleina toteutettava päiväkoti, joka vietäisiin Uudellemaalle ja rakennettaisiin sinne Kouvolan seutukunnan työvoimaa käyttäen. Tulosten mukaan kaikki tutkitut päiväkodin rakennustavat tukevat Kymenlaakson maakunnan ja Kouvolan seutukunnan elintason, työllisyyden, palkkojen ja työtulojen kasvua. Rakentamisen aikana syntyy uusia työpaikkoja useille rakentamisen alihankintaketjun toimialoille. Uusien työpaikkojen määrä on korkein moduulivaihtoehdossa (8,0). Seuraavana on puusta rakentaminen, joka tuo 6,8 uutta työpaikkaa. Betonivaihtoehto tuo vähiten 5,8, uutta työpaikkaa. Tutkimuksen johtopäätös on, että päiväkodin rakentaminen on aluetalouden kannalta myönteinen asia elintasolla ja työllisyydellä mitattuna. Päiväkodin rakentaminen käyttäen mahdollisimman paljon paikallisia puumateriaaleja toisi yhden työpaikan enemmän kuin jos käytettäisiin puun lisäksi soveltuvin osin betonia

Diseño y comparación de costos de un puente mixto de madera laminada-hormigón con puentes tradicionales

Tesis (Ingeniero Civil)La construcción de puentes definitivos en el país es un ítem primordial en el desarrollo, ya que ayuda a la conectividad a lo largo del territorio. Uno de los materiales poco utilizados y subestimados a la hora de construir puentes definitivos, es la madera, ya que se toma más bien como material provisorio en la construcción de puentes. Pero, desde hace 30 años se han comenzado a desarrollar nuevas tecnologías y nuevas propuestas para la construcción de puentes, una de estas es la construcción de Puentes Mixtos de Madera Laminada – Hormigón. El cuál es el enfoque principal de la investigación, ya que se diseñara un puente de este tipo en como propuesta para otro puente ya diseñado. El enfoque principal de la investigación, a parte del diseño, es el análisis de económico de lo que costaría en términos monetarios construir este tipo de puentes. Ya que, aunque se han desarrollado numerosas investigaciones para puentes mixtos, se deja en un segundo plano la parte económica. Entonces tomando esto como primicia, la investigación hace una comparación económica en la construcción de 5 tipos de puentes: mixto madera laminada – hormigón (propuesto), tipo losa (diseño original), tipo viga losa, mixto acero – hormigón y tipo viga cajón. Diseñando todos éstos, a excepción del diseño original, con la Normativa AASHTO LRFD, el Manual de Carreteras y la Normativa Nacional. Tomando como base las dimensiones del puente de caso de estudio: Puente Tordillos, comuna de Codegua, VI Región. El análisis y diseño, a través de la Normativa AASHTO LRFD, las otras disposiciones de diseño y la revisión de literatura, detalla que el puente mixto madera laminada – hormigón es factible de construir ya que cumple con todas las disposiciones. El análisis de los costos del puente mixto madera laminada – hormigón, indica que el costo de construcción de este tipo de puente es menor en comparación con los otros tipos de puentes detallados. Este análisis indico en términos de presupuesto oficial (incluyendo gastos generales y otros), ahorrarse casi $10.000.000 en costos de construcción en comparación con el diseño original

In the European summer of 1978, Eric J. Hobsbawm signed the Preface to Il marxismo ai tempi di Marx, the first volume of Storia del marxismo, a collective work published by Einaudi of Turin from that same year. In a footnote, he indicated that the text that opened the work was a “slightly modified version” of a “memorandum” distributed among the different collaborators. Some copies of said “memorandum” are kept in the Andreas Hegedüs Fund preserved in the Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives, in the Fonds Georg Haupt deposited in the Archives of the Maison des Sciences de l 'Homme (Paris) and in the Library Aricó of the National University of Córdoba. Although, as Hobsbawm himself points out, he only made certain formal changes and some additions, we consider it interesting to offer the original version of the “memorandum”, as received by future collaborators, in a direct translation from English.En el verano europeo de 1978 Eric J. Notes on the jumping spider Corythalia conferta (Araneae: Salticidae), a possible myrmecophagous specialist in Argentina

We present data from a new study of Corythalia conferta Bayer, Höfer & Metzner, a recently described species that inhabits southern South America. A distribution update, morphological illustrations, and phylogeny of related Corythalia C. L. Koch species are presented. Also, we present data that suggest that this species may be the first Corythalia known to specialize in hunting ants (Formicidae). We describe its hunting behavior and habitat. During a 300 hour field study, we recorded 86 prey items, 98.8% of which were ants of 11 different species.Fil: Baigorria, Julián Emanuel Martín.
