    Fibro-Epithelial Polyp: Case Report with Literature Review

    Oral fibroma is the most common benign soft tissue tumor caused due to continuous trauma from sharp cusp of teeth or faulty dental restoration. It presents as sessile or occasionally pedunculated painless swelling which can be soft to firm in consistency. Its incidence occurs mostly during third to fifth decade and shows preference for female. Its occurrence corresponds with intraoral areas that are prone to trauma such as the tongue, buccal mucosa and labial mucosa, lip, gingiva. Even with conservative surgical excision, the lesion may recur until the source of continuous irritation persists. This article presents a case of large size oral fibroma on left alveolar region associated with ulceration along with literature review

    In this article, it is investigated whether vibrational entropy (VE) is an important contribution to the free energy of globular proteins at ambient conditions. VE represents the major configurational-entropy contribution of these proteins. By definition, it is an average of the configurational entropies of the protein within single minima of the energy landscape, weighted by their occupation probabilities. Its large part originates from thermal motion of flexible torsion angles giving rise to the finite peak widths observed in torsion angle distributions. While VE may affect the equilibrium properties of proteins, it is usually neglected in numerical calculations as its consideration is difficult. Moreover, it is sometimes believed that all well-packed conformations of a globular protein have similar VE anyway. Here, we measure explicitly the VE for six different conformations from simulation data of a test protein. Estimates are obtained using the quasi-harmonic approximation for three coordinate sets, Cartesian, bond-angle-torsion (BAT), and a new set termed rotamer-degeneracy lifted BAT coordinates by us. The new set gives improved estimates as it overcomes a known shortcoming of the quasi-harmonic approximation caused by multiply populated rotamer states, and it may serve for VE estimation of macromolecules in a very general context. The obtained VE values depend considerably on the type of coordinates used. However, for all coordinate sets we find large entropy differences between the conformations, of the order of the overall stability of the protein. This result may have important implications on the choice of free energy expressions used in software for protein structure prediction, protein design, and NMR refinement

    Garlic and onion are either cooked like a vegetable because of their green leaves or are also used as a condiment. Many scientific studies affirm the positives of both for their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial potential. Moreover, garlic and onion are regularly employed to treat cardiovascular illnesses, strokes, atherosclerosis, hypertension, hyperlipidemias, and thrombosis, and are also proved effective against Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and cancers. Here we have compiled a piece of information regarding the compounds present in garlic and onion along with their pharmacological properties. Although much more studies are required to refine the utilization and enhance garlic and medicine’s effectiveness. We hope this work will provide helpful information regarding their pharmacological aspects

    Identification and separation of cationic and non-ionic surfactants by reversed phase thin layer chromatography

    271-276Reversed phase thin layer chromatography (RPTLC) of non-ionic and cationic surfactants was performed on silica gel layers impregnated with 5% paraffin oil, silicone oil and tributyl phosphate as stationary phases using water and organic polar solvents as mobile phases. In all, four stationary phases and twelve mobile phases were used to examine the mobility pattern and to find out best TLC system for separation of surfactants from their mixtures. The TLC system comprising of 5% paraffin oil impregnated silica gel layers as stationary phase and pure methanol as mobile phase was found most favourable for achieving separation of non-ionic surfactants (Tx-100, Brij-35 and Tween-20) from cationic surfactants (CPC, CTAB and TTAB). The effects of loading amount of analyte and metal cations impurities in the sample have been examined on mutual separation of Tx-100 and TTAB. The results obtained with methanol were compared with those obtained with ethanol and butanol. The mobility of surfactants was found to increase with the increase of polarity of the alcohol used as mobile phase
