    The title of Samuel Beckett's thirteen minimalist prose texts from 1954, Texts for Nothing, contrasts strongly with the award of the Nobel Prize for literature and the canonization of the author in 1969. This prestigious recognition can clearly be regarded as a public act of Beckettian irony, as hardly any other author has done more to refute ideas of canonicity and to undermine the foundations of the institution of literature - not to mention principal philosophical positions. Beckett's failure to appear at the ceremonial event seems symbolic of the many elsewheres of his idiosyncratic imagination and the uncanny resistance in his texts to the demands of aesthetics and the claims of logics, to whose reconstructions his diversity of textual experimentalism has contributed so forcefully.publishedVersio

    This article aims to examine how and why we can use digital storytelling (DST) to teach literature in the upper secondary classroom, and makes use of Mark Haddon’s complex, multimodal novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (2004) as an example. DST is a powerful tool for the 21st century classroom, with the potential to help pupils to become empathetic, creative, inquisitive and critical thinkers. When applied to literature, DST allows pupils to continue the literary text in creative ways by making their own digital story using a basic video editing application such as iMovie or Microsoft Bilder. Such literature-based DST (LDST) distinguishes itself from ordinary DST use in school. The values, qualities and peculiarities of literature offer an imaginative point of departure for new ways of using digital media in school. The Curious Incident is an exceptionally appropriate novel to use with DST, because the novel and the method share numerous features, not least multimodal ones. The narrative structures and aesthetic dimensions of the novel overlap with characteristics of DST. Furthermore, the many hermeneutic dimensions of Haddon’s novel can also be explored by the imaginative possibilities of DST. The definitions and interrelations between literature, text and modality are discussed throughout the article with reference to both philosophers and school didacticians. LDST is remarkable in the way it encourages pupils to sympathise, to interpret, to think critically and to develop their own imaginative ability and language skills. This article argues that LDST is useful in upper secondary education by examining the corresponding educational qualities and possibilities of Haddon’s multimodal novel and DST, and by drawing upon the new education reform in Norway articulated in the Core curriculum of 2020 and the Curriculum in English. Furthermore, the article concludes with the presentation, analysis and assessment of a pilot LDST-project conducted in an upper secondary school in Troms County as part of an MA lector thesis at UiT The Arctic University Norway. Thus, this article’s wider aim is to bring new research perspectives to English education, with a special focus on the use of literature and active forms of learning

    Despite the fact that literary theory has sought new orientations since Derrida´s biblioblitz in the late 1960s and early 1970s, this article claims that the French philosopher's multiple approaches to literatureindubitably mark a shift in literary hermeneutics. Although the questioning of philosophy, language, aesthetic institutions, and genre solidities per se spurs much of his intellectual analysis, Derrida responds to a great diversity of what is normally termed literature in his writing. Derrida´s Acts of Literature presents a point of departure for this article, which traces his engagements with literature in large parts of his oeuvre. Throughout discussions of his many subversions of literary traditions and reflections of the extensive dispute that surrounds his work, the authors seek to demonstrate the significance of his interrogations for the field of literary interpretation.Selv om litteraturteorien har beveget seg i ulike retninger siden Derridas biblioblitz på slutten av 1960-tallet og begynnelsen av 1970-tallet, hevder denne artikkelen at den franske filosofens ulike tilnærminger til litteratur utvilsomt har forandret hermeneutikken. Til tross for at skepsis til filosofi, språk, estetiske uttrykksformer og sjangersoliditet utgjør mye av hans intellektuelle analyser, undersøker Derrida i sin skrivning en rekke ulike typer tekster som vi tradisjonelt sett karakteriserer som litteratur.     Multinational evidence-based recommendations for the diagnosis and management of gout: integrating systematic literature review and expert opinion of a broad panel of rheumatologists in the 3e initiative

    We aimed to develop evidence-based multinational recommendations for the diagnosis and management of gout. Using a formal voting process, a panel of 78 international rheumatologists developed 10 key clinical questions pertinent to the diagnosis and management of gout. Each question was investigated with a systematic literature review. Medline, Embase, Cochrane CENTRAL and abstracts from 2010-2011 European League Against Rheumatism and American College of Rheumatology meetings were searched in each review. Relevant studies were independently reviewed by two individuals for data extraction and synthesis and risk of bias assessment. Using this evidence, rheumatologists from 14 countries (Europe, South America and Australasia) developed national recommendations. After rounds of discussion and voting, multinational recommendations were formulated. Each recommendation was graded according to the level of evidence. Agreement and potential impact on clinical practice were assessed. Combining evidence and clinical expertise, 10 recommendations were produced. One recommendation referred to the diagnosis of gout, two referred to cardiovascular and renal comorbidities, six focused on different aspects of the management of gout (including drug treatment and monitoring), and the last recommendation referred to the management of asymptomatic hyperuricaemia. the level of agreement with the recommendations ranged from 8.1 to 9.2 (mean 8.7) on a 1-10 scale, with 10 representing full agreement. Ten recommendations on the diagnosis and management of gout were established.
