Ciertos problemas hidráulicos planteados por el ingeniero Baliani hacía 1630 culminaron en el experimento barométrico realizado por el matemático Torricelli en 1644. Este último, ferviente galileano, pensaba la matemática como lenguaje con que la naturaleza habla a los hombres. Con este soporte teórico del mundo realizó un experimento físico con el que calibró la presión atmosférica y comprobó la existencia del vacío

A Mechanism for the Dramatization of the Protest: Tactics and Strategy. An nalysis from Argentina

Este artículo presenta un modelo analítico que permite comprender la «cocina de la protesta», es decir, los activistas que optan por realizar protestas sociales ¿cómo eligen la estrategia para presentar sus reclamos colectivos? y ¿cómo escogen entre las diferentes tácticas posibles? Estas cuestiones remiten a la extensión y la intensidad de la contienda política, dimensiones clásicas en el estudio de las movilizaciones sociales. Además, para dar cuenta de la intensidad de la protesta, se propone una metodología que permite tratarla con independencia de la frecuencia con la que suceden los eventos de protesta. Desde esta perspectiva, se estudia el ciclo de protesta ocurrido en Argentina entre 1998 y 2005 y se analizan las curvas, en extensión e intensidad, de las corrientes contenciosas producidas en ese periodo. Finalmente se reflexiona acerca de la pertinencia, para Trabajo Social, del estudio de este fenómeno.This paper presents an analytical model for understanding the making of the protest, that is, how do activists who choose to engage in social protest choose the strategy of protest? and how do the choose between different tactics? These issues concern the extent and intensity of political disputes, classical dimensions in the study of social movements. Further, to show the intensity of the protest, we propose a methodology which enables us to discuss the topic independently of the frequency of protest vens. With this analytical-methodological framework, we study the cycle of protest in Argentina (1998-2005) and analyze the trends, in extent and intensity, of the disputes producing during this period. Finally, we reflect on the relevance of studying this phenomenon for the discipline of Social Work

Music Uses and Gratifications Among Youth

This study identified the uses and gratifications of music genres and communication needs among young adults. An online survey of young adults in the College of Liberal Arts at Rochester Institute of Technology was conducted. Seven communication factors were found to correlate with listening to 21 different music genres. A sense of identity was significantly related to alternative, indie, jazz, and new age music. Behavior was related to dance, easy listening, hip hop/rap, new age, pop, and world music. Interaction with others was related to easy listening and pop music. Knowledge was related to alternative, dance, easy listening, hip hop/rap, pop, and rhythm and blues. Needs was related to classical, electronic, Asian pop, pop, and world music. Negative moods management was related to alternative, Asian pop, rhythm and blues, and world music while positive moods management was related to alternative, electronic, indie, Asian pop, rhythm and blues, and world music

Program to Improve Affectivity Adolescent

Este artículo busca explicar los efectos que produce la aplicación del programa “Vida de Santos” en la Mejora de la Afectividad de los Adolescentes”, se enfoca desde tres dimensiones: dimensión espiritual, dimensión amorosa y dimensión autoconcepto. Plantea la importancia de trabajar la afectividad de los adolescentes puesto que de allí parte el desarrollo de la persona. Se enfoca la realidad de los adolescentes desde su problemática, los procesos a los que deberíamos recurrir desde la educación al trabajo de la afectividad. Presentamos los resultados de un proceso realizado y comprobado mediante la aplicación del pretest y postest.Abstract: This article seeks to explain the effects that the implementation of the "Life of Saints" program on Improving Adolescent Affectivity "is approached from three dimensions: spiritual dimension, size and dimension loving self-concept. It raises the importance of working adolescent affection as there part of the development of the person. Determination of Pharmaceuticals in Coastal Systems Using Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) Followed by Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography – tandem Mass Spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS)

This paper describes the optimization and validation of an analytical method for the determination of 83 pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs) in aqueous samples using solid-phase extraction (SPE) followed by ultra performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UPLC-QqQ-MS/MS). First, several experiments were conducted to optimize different SPE extraction parameters such as pH, elution solvents, and Na2EDTA addition. Extraction recovery percentages were between 17 and 146%, being higher than 70% for 47 target analytes. The effect of salinity in the extraction efficiency proved to be negligible ( 90%), and the precision of the method, calculated as the relative standard deviation (RSD) of replicate extractions and analyses, was less than 20%. The optimized method was successfully applied to the analysis of real water samples in estuarine and coastal systems from SW Spain (Cadiz Bay and Huelva Estuary). 49 out of 83 target compounds were found in 75% of samples. Ibuprofen, atenolol, gemfibrozil and caffeine were the most commonly detected substances, reaching concentrations up to 195 ng L-1

La teoría de la acción social en Erving Goffman

El presente artículo ofrece una reflexión sobre una figura clave en sociología como es Goffman. Proponemos un viaje a través de su obra con el fin de profundizar en su modelo dramatúrgico. Acción ubicada, presentación del self, frames o interacción social, son elementos abordados a través de la comparativa con otros autores, entre los que se encuentran Parsons, Durkheim e incluso el propio Freud. La obra de Goffman se ha analizado desde múltiples perspectivas, dando lugar a diversas interpretaciones, pero sin lugar a dudas lo que emerge de ella es una continua pretensión de dibujar el difícil y complejo encuentro entre lo micro y lo macro, sin poder encasillarse en ninguna corriente teórica conocida.This article is a reflection on an outstanding figure in Sociology: Goffman. We suggest a view of its works in order to go deeply into its dramatist model. Located action, presentation of self, frame on social interaction are some of the elements we dead with though a comparative with other authors, such as Parsons, Durkheim and even Freud. Goffman's work has been analysed from numerous perspectives, offering several interpretations, but what remains still is, without any doubt, a constant aspiration of drawing the difficult and complex encounter between the micro and the macro, without being categorized in any of the well-knowm theoretical trends

Prácticas pedagógicas de las docentes de matemática frente a estándares y lineamientos curriculares en educación básica en la institución educativa de San Cayetano

El objetivo de esta investigación de corte cualitativo, es determinar cuál es la coherencia entre la actual propuesta teórico-pedagógica del Ministerio de Educación Nacional (MEN) y las práctica pedagógicas del docente de matemática de la Institución Educativa San Cayetano. Con la población sujeto-objeto de la muestra se desarrolló una entrevista estructurada a un grupo docentes del área de matemática, los cuales laboran en la institución donde se realizó la investigación. Los resultados de la entrevista fueron contrastados con los hallazgos arrojados por la revisión documental y los elementos que los lineamientos y estándares curriculares de matemática propuestos por el MEN, lo cual brindó elementos significativos para un análisis global de la información recogida. Lo anterior permitió inferir la realidad en la cual se desarrollan las prácticas pedagógicas de los docentes de matemática, resaltando la necesidad de implementar una propuesta curricular fundamentada en la propuesta ministerial

Blackspot seabream early life stages dispersal by hydrodynamic modelling (Strait of Gibraltar - Alboran Sea)

The Blackspot seabream (Pagellus bogaraveo) is a commercially appreciated demersal fish, widespread in the north-eastern Atlantic and middle-western Mediterranean. The Strait of Gibraltar (SoG) is an important fishing area where artisanal fleets from Spain and Morocco target this species using special longline gears known as “voracera”. Different studies on the health status of this species claim an overexploitation of the resource without any kind of objective management measures implemented yet by the associated countries. Improving the knowledge of the population dynamics, and particularly during the spawning window, is crucial for a better management of the fishing effort for this species. There is an agreement in literature in considering the SoG as an especially energetic and dispersive spawning zone for this species. Once spawned, eggs and larvae (ELS) are assumed to be scattered by the currents towards both sides of the SoG, mostly to the eastwards Alboran basin, where high concentrations of juveniles occur. A high resolution hydrodynamic model coupled to a Lagrangian particle tracking system is employed to assess the potential dispersal pathways of blackspot seabream ELS spawned in the SoG. Recursive releases of passive tracers in different virtual spawning spots and depths within the SoG region are tracked under different tidal conditions in order to obtain an overall characterization of the spatial dispersion patterns of the studied species. Semidiurnal tidal currents emerge as the primary factor in determining the horizontal dispersion and pathway of the spawning products, although the spring-neap tidal cycle and the spawning depth can be also important variables depending on the region considered as well as the arrival zone for the ELS dispersal paths over the Alboran SeaUniversidad de Málaga.
