THE TRADITIONAL CONTRACT SYSTEM - IT’S ROLE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF SMALL SCALE PALM SUGAR INDUSTRY IN BENGKULU

The small scale palm sugar industry is having significant contribution to strengthen rural economics‘ structure. Unfortunately, in rural area there is less developed transportation and communication network so as competitive market economy. Thus, the agent‘s in rural area is facing many barriers such as less price information, limited numbers of agricultural inputs both timely and spatially. As the result, the palm sugar agent creates another alternative exchange institution of the principle – agent type of relationship that dominated rural economy, even taking lower profit share. For that purposes, the study describes role of the contract system mechanism in the small-scale palm sugar industry. This research was conducted on July to Augusts 2011 by survey approach. The descriptive analysis was utilized to explaining the existence of traditional contract system.. There are four types of perennial crops, especially of palm used for sugar making between the tappers and the owners. The contract offers both guaranteed market and purchased price to tappers who have never had assurance. Bandeng Presto is one of the typical foods of Semarang City, one of the famous milkfish processing industries is PT XYZ. This study aims to identify milkfish supply chains at PT XYZ in Semarang City. Performance Analysis of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of Ikola Coffee Using the Balanced Scorecard Method

MSMEs are one of several business sectors in Indonesia that have an essential role in increasing economic value and reducing unemployment. Bengkulu City is one of the cities in Indonesia that also takes advantage of the vital role of MSMEs. IKOLA Coffee is one of several MSMEs with its address at Jalan Musi No. 3 Padang Harapan Village, Gading Cempaka District, Bengkulu City, which was established on August 1, 2016, or has been established for six years. The purpose of this study was to determine the performance of MSME Kopi IKOLA, located in Gading Cempaka District, Bengkulu City, using the Balanced Scorecard method based on four perspectives, namely financial, customer, internal business processes, and growth and learning perspectives. The respondents in this study were IKOLA Coffee MSME customers who were 16 years old and had shopped at least once employees and business owners of IKOLA Coffee. The results of this study indicate that the business performance of MSME Kopi IKOLA is based on a financial perspective with a total score of 7, a customer perspective with a total score of 1, an internal business process perspective with a total score of 1, and a learning and growth perspective with a score of 2. Overall the company's performance value obtained is 0.73. Based on the rating scale, the business performance of IKOLA Coffee SMEs is included in the excellent category

Production Risk of Groundfish In UD. XY Bengkulu City: Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

One of the fish processing units in Bengkulu City is UD.XY, which is located in Sumber Jaya Urban Village, Kampung Melayu Sub-district, Bengkulu City. The seafood processing product is groundfish made of fresh mackerel. Analysis of production risk is an important aspect of ensuring the survival of a business. The production risk was 15% in one production, so the selling price lowered and reprocessing was impossible. The risk comes from the material, production process, and final product. The present study was aimed to analyze the production risk of groundfish. The analysis method was FMEA. The research result showed that the highest risk was poor fish supply, poor groundfish products, and competing groundfish products

PELATIHAN PEMANFAATAN SAMPAH KERTAS MENJADI KERTAS DAUR ULANG DAN SAMPAH PLASTIK MENJADI TAS RAJUT

The women members of the PKK in the Lokasi Baru Village, Air Periukan Subdistrict, Seluma Regency, Bengkulu Province have productive and useful activities, namely processing used newsprint into items such as baskets and flower vases and having knitting skills. Items resulting from knitting activities include bags, tablecloths, mask connectors, and others. However, these activities face several problems, namely the lack of variety of models of processed paper and knitted goods produced. This activity aims to provide additional knowledge to PKK members on how to make alternative products other than the products produced so far, namely making recycled paper and making knitted bags with a combination of yarn and plastic bag waste. The method used in this activity is counseling and direct practice (learning by doing). PKK members participated in the activity enthusiastically. It is hoped that after this training, PKK mothers will gain additional insight into the goods that can be produced from waste utilization activities. In addition to helping save the environment, this activity can generate additional income for households

Socio Economic Characteristics and Patterns of Decision Making Women’s Fishermen in the City Bengkulu

ABSTRACTThe role of women in the household is a very complex fishermen from productive activity, domestic, and social. Decisions taken fisherman’s wife to engage in such activities is largely determined by socio - economic characteristics of households of fishermen. These characteristics will determine the pattern of decisions taken. How big is women involvement in fishermen decision making.The analytical method used was descriptive analyses. This study indicated social characteristics are age, ethnics, education, number of family members. Economic characteristics, including the distance to the workplace, length of stay, the allocation of working time and the wife revenue contribution to total household income of fishermen. Those characteristics have to consider among household decision making. Currently, their role in the decision making were equal.Current decision-making patterns have an incentive to reduce the dominance of the head of household to monopolize decisions in the household.Keywords: decision making pattern, woman, social – economic characteristicsABSTRAKKeterlibatan wanita pada kegiatan produktif didorong oleh keinginan mereka untuk mencukupi kebutuhan keluarga. Keputusan wanita nelayan terlibat pada aktifitas produktif, domestik dan sosial sangat ditentukan oleh karakteristik sosial ekonomi wanita nelayan. Apa saja karakteristik wanita nelayan dan seberapa besar perannya dalam pengambilan keputusan rumah tangga di Kota Bengkulu. Peran wanita nelayan pada ketiga aktifitas dianalisis dengan metode analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan karakteristik sosial antara lain umur, etnis, pendidikan,jumlah anggota keluarga. Karakteristik ekonomi antara lain lama usaha, jarak ke tempat kerja, lama bermukim, alokasi waktu serta kontribusi pendapatan wanita terhadap pendapatan rumah tangga. Secara umum, peran isteri setara dengan peran suami pada pengambilan keputusan rumah tangga nelayan di Kota Bengkulu.Model pengambilan keputusan akan mendorong untuk mengurangi dominasi suami atau pihak tertentu untuk memonopoli keputusan dalam rumah tangga.Kata kunci: model pengambilan keputusan, wanita, karakteristik sosial-ekonom

PENATAAN MANAJEMEN SUPLAI BAHAN BAKU KOPI UNTUK KELANGSUNGAN USAHA KOPI BUBUK DI KECAMATAN MUARA SAHUNG

Production of coffee beans in the weekly market reaches 95 tons per week. The main problem faced by the business group is the limited availability of raw materials ofselectively red coffee beans. This is because the coffee harvest only occurs in April toAugust, so that outside these months the raw materials are not available. Therefore, thestudy of the raw material supply management and ground coffee marketing managementarrangement that continuous ground coffee business needs to be done. Descriptiveresearch is conducted in this study, in order to describe in detail the actual situation. Datawas obtained from the results of in-depth interviews (depth interviews), observation, anddocumentation of the farmer and member of the group management. The study revealedthat the availability of raw materials of selectively red coffee beans quotation results isvery limited. Raw material needs can be supplied by local purchases of villages in MuaraSahung or from other coffee production center in the District of Kaur. Pelatihan Pembuatan Face Shields Bagi Masyarakat di Kecamatan Sukaraja Kabupaten Seluma

Tenaga kesehatan wajib menggunakan standar keselamatan yaitu penggunaan Alat Pelindung Diri (APD) dalam bentuk face shield  untuk mencegah penularan dari dan ke petugas kesehatan  dan pasien membutuhkan alat pelindung diri. Keteersediaannya yang terbatas mendorong masyarakat untuk berkontribusi aktif membuat APD berupa face shields. Pelatihan Pembuatan face shields  menggunakan metode demonstrasi dan metode pembuatan terbimbing. Hasil pengabdian dalam bentuk pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan ini telah berhasil melatih anggota masyarakat sebagai perintis pembuatan face shields. Kemampuan dan keterampilan para perintis face shields  sangat baik  ditunjukkan oleh  kemampuan membuat 30 unit face shields  yang telah  dikontribusikan kepada petugas kesehatan di Puskesmas Babatang Kecamatan Sukaraja Kabupaten Seluma
