ALGEBRAIC THINKING ABILITY AND LEARNING INTEREST THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA-BASED PICTORIAL PUZZLE IN NEW NORMAL ERA
Algebraic ability is one of the most important abilities to be developed because it becomes the basis to achieve other mathematical thinking ability. In new normal era, information through social media is the main thing for society, particularly for children of the current generation. This study aims to describe algebraic thinking ability and students' interest in learning through social media-based pictorial puzzles. The method of the research is descriptive quantitative. The samples of this study were 6 students of grade VIII SMP Edu Global School in Cirebon city. This study indicates that algebraic thinking ability and students' interest in learning algebra are still classified as moderate and have not reached the high category, so it needs to be improved in the learning process
PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN PENALARAN DAN KOMUNIKASI MATEMATIS SERTA MOTIVASI BELAJAR SISWA SMP MELALUI PENERAPAN METODE DISCOVERY LEARNING : Kuasi Eksperimen Pada Siswa SMP Di Kota Cirebon
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji masalah peningkatan
kemampuan penalaran dan komunikasi matematis siswa sebelum dan setelah
memperoleh pembelajaran dengan metode discovery learning dan konvensional,
serta menelaah motivasi belajar matematika siswa setelah dilakukan proses
pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode
kuasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Dalam
rancangan desain ini, sampel yang digunakan terdiri dari dua kelompok, yaitu
kelompok
eksperimen
(yang
diberi
perlakuan)
dan
kelompok
kontrol
(pembelajaran konvensional) dan tidak dipilih secara random. Subyek penelitian
terdiri dari 40 siswa kelas eksperimen dan 41 siswa kelas kontro yang dipilih
secara purposive dari salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Cirebon. Analisis data
penelitian dilakukan secara kuantitatif berdasarkan keseluruhan sampel maupun
dirinci berdasarkan kategori kemampuan matematis awal (KMA): tinggi, sedang,
dan rendah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan
penalaran dan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh metode discovery
learning lebih tinggi secara signifikan baik secara keseluruhan atau berdasarkan
KMA dibandingkan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional.
Kemudian motivasi belajar matematika siswa yang memperoleh metode discovery
learning lebih baik secara signifikan baik keseluruhan atau berdasarkan KMA
tinggi dan rendah, tetapi tidak lebih baik untuk KMA sedang.----------This study is aimed to study the problem of mathematical reasoning and
communication ability enhancement before and after getting learning with
discovery learning method and conventional methods, and to exemine students'
motivation in learning mathematics after learning process was done. This study
used quantitative approach with quasi experiment method with nonequivalent
control group design. In this experiment design, sample used consisted of two
groups, namely experiment group (which was given treatment) and control group
(conventional learning) and was not selected randomly. Subject of study consisted
of 40 students of experiment class and 41 students of control class who were
selected purposely from one of Public Junior High School in Cirebon City. Data
analysis was done quantitatively based on whole samples and was detailed based
on the category of mathematical initial ability (MIA): high, medium, and low. The
study result showed that the enhancement of mathematical reasoning and
communication ability of students who get discovery learning method was higher
significantly either in a whole or based on MIA compared to students who get
conventional learning. Then learning motivation of students who get discovery
learning method is better significantly either in a whole or based on high and low
MIA, but is was not better for medium MIA
Analisis Kemampuan Koneksi Matematis Siswa SMK pada Materi Matriks ditinjau dari Self Efficacy
Mathematical connection ability is one of the important skills in learning mathematics. When students are able to relate mathematical ideas, their understanding of mathematics deepens and lasts longer. Based on the data in the field, it was found that students were still unable to recognize and relate mathematical ideas. During mathematics learning, behaviors that lead to math anxiety and lack of self-confidence were also found. The purpose of this study is to analyze students' mathematical connection abilities in terms of self-efficacy and mathematics anxiety. This type of research is a descriptive qualitative research using mathematical connection test aids, self-efficacy questionnaires, and mathematics anxiety questionnaires to collect data. The subjects in this study were 6 students of SMK majoring in TBSM. The results showed that students who have high, medium, and low self-efficacy can meet 3 indicators of mathematical connection ability
Profil Kemampuan Berpikir Aljabar Siswa SMP pada Materi Volume Kubus
The purpose of this study is to describe the students’ algebraic thinking skills and errors in solving algebraic problems on volume of cube material for class VIII of Junior High School. The research design used was in a form of the descriptive qualitative research method. This study captured the students’ algebraic thinking skill on two indicators, namely the students’ ability to represent problems in the relationship between variables and the students’ ability to perform operations on algebraic form. Based on the result of the categorization, three students from the high-level category were chosen as the subjects of this study. In depth interviews were given to the subjects of the study in order to explore the answers that they provide on the mathematic problems given. The findings revealed that the students with high-level of algebraic thinking skills could solve mathematics problem in algebraic form correctly especially in transformational activities. It was indicated by the students’ ability to provide a solution for algebraic equation problems. Meanwhile, the students’ error in solving the mathematical problems in a form of build-cube space was due to the students’ inaccuracy in writing the final results on the answer sheets for the algebraic thinking ability test. Overall, the students encountered several types of errors, those were the error in the procedural and technical/calculated on comparisons, the error in witing mathematical units, and lastly the error in substituting variable
Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Siswa Kelas V melalui Penerapan Model Inkuiri Terbimbing pada Materi Pokok Cahaya: Penelitian Tindakan Kelas di MI Al-Furqon Jakarta Selatan
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah upaya meningkatkan belajar siswa melalui model inkuiri terbimbing untuk membantu guru meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, refleksi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di MI Al - Furqon kelas V yang berjumlah 15 siswa tahun ajaran 2011/2012. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan dalam 2 siklus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah tes sikap dan tes obyektif. Teknik analisis data secara kualitatif berdasarkan analisis deskriptif hasil perhitungan rata-rata skor hasil belajar siswa siklus I dan II. Rata-rata skor ranah kognitif siswa pada siklus I sebesar 65 sedangkan untuk aktifitas siswa 56,8%, sedangkan pada siklus II pemahan kognitif sebesar 82,33 untuk aktifitas siswa meningkat secara signifikan menjadi 81,2%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dan aktifitas siswa pada materi pokok cahaya melalui penerapan model inkuiri terbimbin
IMPLEMENTASI BLENDED LEARNING PADA ERA DIGITAL DAN KEMANDIRIAN BELAJAR MAHASISWA PENDIDIKAN MATEMATIKA
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kecenderungan kemandirian mahasiswa pendidikan matematika setelah implementasi blended learning dalam proses pembelajaran dalam era digital. Adapun metode yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif deskriptif dengan analisa data menggunakan prosentase. Subjek penelitiannya yaitu mahasiwa Pendidikan Matematika Semester 4 pada Mata Kuliah Strategi Pembelajaran Matematika. Pengumpulan datanya dengan angket kuesioner menggunakan skala likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa total jawaban responden mengenai kecenderungan kemandirian belajar mahasiswa saat diterapkan blended learning adalah sebesar 83,85% yaitu berada pada kategori sangat positif
Psychosocial Development of Children Addicted Versus Not Addicted to Smartphones
Psychosocial development of preschool children is the process of children’s abilities developing and children starting to take the initiative to solve their own problems according to their knowledge. However, many preschool children are currently addicted to gadgets such as smartphones, which can interfere with their taking initiative and paying attention to the social environment. The aim of this study was to determine the differences in psychosocial development between children who are addicted vs. those who are not addicted to smartphones in preschool age children. This study was a descriptive comparative study and it used a simple random sampling technique to select the respondents. The Mann-Whitney test was employed to analyze the data with a significance degree of 0.05 (5%). The results showed that there was a significant difference between addicted and non-addicted children. In the non-addicted group of children, the median value was 2.00 (1.61-1.78) and in the addicted group of children the median value obtained was 1.00 (1.03-1.11). The average ranking for the non-addicted group was 52.50 and was 28.50 for the addicted group. It is recommended that parents understand the impact of using gadgets such as smartphones on children’s psychosocial development, and that parents pay more attention to each phase of children’s development, especially psychosocial development at preschool age.
