    Dipper-Donkin algebra as global symmetry of quantum chains

    We analize the role of GL_2, a quantum group constructed by Dipper-Donkin, as a global symmetry for quantum chains, and show the way to construct all possible Hamiltonians for four states quantum chains with GL_2 global symmetry. In doing this, we search all inner actions of GL_2 on the Clifford algebra C(1,3) and show them.     Actividad física durante embarazo, su relación con la edad gestacional materna y el peso de nacimiento

    Históricamente la relación entre la actividad física y el embarazo no ha estado completamente clara. La gran cantidad de estudios científicos no han producido suficientes hallazgos que otorguen información clara y concreta sobre la dosis adecuada de ejercicio durante la gestación. El presente trabajo pretende conocer la relación entre los hábitos de actividad física durante el embarazo y la edad gestacional materna al momento del parto, así como el peso del recién nacido. Se ha utilizado un estudio de tipo transversal, de casos y controles, retrospectivo, 473 mujeres del área de Madrid han sido entrevistadas, edad entre 17 y 41 años, (media= 31,9±4). Todas ellas caucásicas y de origen hispano. Nuestros resultados muestran en el grupo de casos una edad gestacional similar (273±9,1 días) al de control (278±9,5), y recién nacidos con pesos inferiores (3171±443) que las que no desarrollan ningún tipo de actividad física regular o programada (3289±583) (p=0,01). El ejercicio físico desarrollado durante el embarazo reduce aparentemente el peso del recién nacido y no tiene influencia en la edad gestacional matern

    An Introduction to Hopf algebras as a tool for the regularization of relavent quantities in quantum field theory is given. We deform algebraic spaces by introducing q as a regulator of a non-commutative and non-cocommutative Hopf algebra. Relevant quantities are finite provided q\neq 1 and diverge in the limit q\rightarrow 1.     Genetic and serologic surveillance of rotavirus with P[8] and P[4] genotypes in feces from children in the city of Chihuahua, northern Mexico

    Rotavirus vaccine was developed using the most prominent G and P genotypes circulating in children population. Therefore, severe gastroenteritis has been reduced around the world. This study investigated the G and P rotavirus genotypes circulating in children from two hospitals in the city of Chihuahua, Mexico. Additionally, polyclonal antibodies against Rotavirus Wa strain were used to determine their homotypic and heterotypic reactivity to both P[8] and P[4] genotypes. G1, G2, and G3 VP7 genotypes and P[8] and P[4] VP4 genotypes were detected in common and uncommon combinations as well as mixed infectious. The predominant combination was G1P[8]. Phylogenetic analysis of VP4 gene revealed the presence of P[8]-1 and P[8]-3 lineages of P[8] genotype and P[4]-5 lineage of P[4] genotype. All but five G1P[8] rotavirus were detected by polyclonal anti-Rotavirus Wa strain. Mutation analysis revealed differences in three of the four neutralizing epitopes previously reported to VP8* subunit of VP4 protein. Results of this study offer insights over genetic variants of field rotavirus that could be detected in a homotypic and heterotypic way by antibodies elicited to rotavirus with P[8] genotype.     Modelling the basin of attraction as a two-dimensional manifold from experimental data: applications to balance in humans

    We present a method of modeling the basin of attraction as a three-dimensional function describing a two-dimensional manifold on which the dynamics of the system evolves from experimental time series data. Our method is based on the density of the data set and uses numerical optimization and data modeling tools. We also show how to obtain analytic curves that describe both the contours and the boundary of the basin. Our method is applied to the problem of regaining balance after perturbation from quiet vertical stance using data of an elite athlete. Our method goes beyond the statistical description of the experimental data, providing a function that describes the shape of the basin of attraction. To test its robustness, our method has also been applied to two different data sets of a second subject and no significant differences were found between the contours of the calculated basin of attraction for the different data sets.     Rotated balance in humans due to repetitive rotational movement

    We show how asymmetries in the movement patterns during the process of regaining balance after perturbation from quiet stance can be modeled by a set of coupled vector fields for the derivative with respect to time of the angles between the resultant ground reaction forces and the vertical in the anteroposterior and mediolateral directions. In our model, which is an adaption of the model of Stirling and Zakynthinaki (2004), the critical curve, defining the set of maximum angles one can lean to and still correct to regain balance, can be rotated and skewed so as to model the effects of a repetitive training of a rotational movement pattern. For the purposes of our study a rotation and a skew matrix is applied to the critical curve of the model. We present here a linear stability analysis of the modified model, as well as a fit of the model to experimental data of two characteristic “asymmetric” elite athletes and to a “symmetric” elite athlete for comparison. The new adapted model has many uses not just in sport but also in rehabilitation, as many work place injuries are caused by excessive repetition of unaligned and rotational movement patterns

    In Vitro Murine Lymphoma L5178y-R Cells Growth Inhibition By Endophytic Fungi Isolated From Lophocereus Marginatus

    Background: Chemotherapy is one of the main treatments to fight cancer. However, about 90% of failures in this procedure are due to the invasion and metastasis of drug-resistant cancer cells. Therefore, the search for new drugs has become critical in oncology. Endophytic fungi, as important sources of bioactive compounds, represent an alternative for the isolation, characterization, and development of new pharmacological treatments for cancer control. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the cytotoxic activity of liquid culture extracts of endophytic fungi isolated from Lophocereus marginatus against murine lymphoma L5178Y-R cells. Methods: Endophytic fungi obtained from L. marginatus stems were isolated and morphologically characterized. Aqueous, methanolic, and ethyl acetate extracts were obtained from fungal liquid cultures. To evaluate the anticancer activity, we used tumor L5178Y-R cells and control peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Extracts were evaluated at 250 and 25 µg/mL and 250 µg/mL, using the 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazoliumbromide) colorimetric reduction assay to determine cytotoxicity. Vincristine and 1% DMSO were used as positive and negative controls, respectively. The IC50 value and selectivity index (SI) were determined only for the extracts that presented the highest antitumor activity. These isolates were molecularly identified from sequencing of the spacer region of the ribosomal DNA internal transcript (ITS). A metabolite production curve was performed with selected isolates to determine the time of the highest antitumor activity. Results: Ten endophytic fungi from L. marginatus were isolated and morphologically characterized. Results showed that aqueous extracts presented lower lymphoma cells growth inhibition (\u3c 50%) at the highest concentration evaluated (250 µg/mL), as compared with ethyl acetate and methanolic extracts, which showed up to 93.4% and 94.3% cells growth inhibition, respectively. Ten extracts with \u3e 80% tumor cells growth inhibition were selected and evaluated at 250 µg/mL on PBMCs viability. Extracts showing less than 50% cytotoxicity to PBMCs were selected and IC50 and IS were determined. Strain PME-H005 presented the highest toxicity against L5178Y-R cells and the highest SI with IC50 of 39.7 µg/mL and IS \u3e 6.2, as compared with PBMCs. Four isolates that showed the highest antitumor activity were molecularly identified, corresponding to the species Penicillium citrinum, Aspergillus versicolor, Metarhizium anisopliae, and Cladosporium sp. When performing the metabolite production curve, it was observed that only A. versicolor PME-H005 and M. anisopliae PME-H007 strains retained antitumor activity, where the ethyl acetate extracts showed the highest activity with IC50 values of 23.2 µg/ mL (28 d) for the PME-H005 strain and 2.7 µg/mL (21 d) for PME-H007. Conclusions: A. versicolor PME-H005 and M. anisopliae PME-H007 strains extracts showed significant antitumor activity against L5178Y-R lymphoma cells. Further research is required to characterize bioactive compounds responsible for this activity
