Dissolution of a CO2 spherical cap bubble adhered to a flat surface in air-saturated water
Bubbles adhered to partially hydrophobic flat surfaces often attain a spherical cap shape with a contact angle much greater than zero. We address the fundamental problem of the diffusion-driven dissolution of a sessile spherical cap bubble (SCB) adhered to a flat smooth surface. In particular, we perform experiments on the dissolution of CO2 bubbles (with initial radii similar to 1 mm) immersed in air-saturated water adhered to two substrates with different levels of hydrophobicity. It is found that the contact angle dynamics plays an important role in the bubble dissolution rate. A dissolution model for a multicomponent SCB in an isothermal and uniform pressure environment is then devised. The model is based on the quasi-stationary approximation. It includes the effect of the contact angle dynamics, whose behaviour is predicted by means of a simplified model based on the results obtained from adhesion hysteresis. The presence of an impermeable substrate hinders the overall rate of mass transfer. Two approaches are considered in its determination: (a) the inclusion of a diffusion boundary layer-plate interaction model and (b) a finite-difference solution. Productividad científica de los hospitales asociados a COODESURIS, Risaralda, Colombia, 2012
La producción científica de los hospitales es
un elemento de gran importancia poco evaluado en algunos lugares, como es el caso del departamento de Risaralda, Colombia. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio
bibliométrico usando la base de datos Google Académico, evaluando la producción científica de documentos académicos vinculados a las entidades de salud de Risaralda asociadas
a la Cooperativa de Entidades de Salud COODESURIS. Resultados: Se encontró un total de 77 documentos académicos válidos. De ellos, el Hospital Universitario San Jorge fue el que mayor cantidad tiene disponible, 22 (28,6%), seguido por el Hospital Santa Mónica con 9 (11,7%) y el Hospital San Vicente de Paúl de Apía con 8 (10,4%). De dichos documentos, 43 (55,8%) correspondieron con trabajos de tesis, 28 (36,4%) a artículos científicos publicados en revistas, 4 (5,2%) a informes de práctica profesional, 1 guía (1,3%), y 1 libro donde se hace referencia a una entidad (1,3%). Discusión: Con base a todo lo anterior, los hospitales asociados a COODESURIS tienen un bajo nivel de producción científica hasta la fecha, lo cual establece un punto de partida para mejorar a través
de distintas estrategias que busquen incrementar el nivel de producción científica a corto, mediano y largo plazo. Más aun, se plantea clasificar las instituciones de salud en tres posibles niveles de producción científica actual: bajo, muy bajo y extremadamente bajo, de acuerdo a criterios basados en los documentos académicos y los artículos publicados.Introduction: Scientific production of the hospitals is a key element not sufficiently assessed in some places, such is the case of the department Risaralda, Colombia. Materials and methods: A bibliometric study, using the database Google Scholar, assessing the scientific production of academic documents linked to the healthcare institutions of Risaralda, associated to the Cooperativa de Entidades de Salud COODESURIS, was done. Results: A total of 77
valid academic documents was found. From them the Hospital Universitario San Jorge was the one reporting large number of them, 22 28.6%), followed by the Hospital Santa Mónica with 9
(11.7%) and the Hospital San Vicente de Paúl from Apía with 8 (10.4%). From those documents, 43 (55.8%) corresponded with thesis works, 28 (36.4%) to scientific articles published in journals, 4 (5.2%) to professional practice reports, 1 guide (1.3%), and 1 book were a reference to a healthcare institution was made (1.3%). Discussion: Based on these findings, the hospitals associated to COODESURIS have a low scientific production level, which can be used to establish a starting point to improve through dif erent strategies that look at increase the level of scientific production in a short, medium and long term. Even more, a classification is proposed for the healthcare institutions in three current possible levels: low, very low and extremely

Ultrastable glasses : new perspectives for an old problem
Altres ajuts: the ICN2 was funded by the CERCA programme / Generalitat de Catalunya.Ultrastable glasses (mostly prepared from the vapor phase under optimized deposition conditions) represent a unique class of materials with low enthalpies and high kinetic stabilities. These highly stable and dense glasses show unique physicochemical properties, such as high thermal stability, improved mechanical properties or anomalous transitions into the supercooled liquid, offering unprecedented opportunities to understand many aspects of the glassy state. Their improved properties with respect to liquid-cooled glasses also open new prospects to their use in applications where liquid-cooled glasses failed or where not considered as usable materials. In this review article we summarize the state of the art of vapor-deposited (and other) ultrastable glasses with a focus on the mechanism of equilibration, the transformation to the liquid state and the low temperature properties. The review contains information on organic, metallic, polymeric and chalcogenide glasses and an updated list with relevant properties of all materials known today to form a stable glass

Así, su finalidad será la programación de un analizador de red sencillo que implemente una serie de objetivos mínimos que puedan ser ampliados en futuras revisiones del mismo.This final degree project attempts to develop this type of software providing it with the functionalities necessary to perform a series of filterings and to carry out a small statistical study on the type of packets that circulate in a specific network interface. Management by process as clean alternative for bioremediation project management
The purpose was to implement the management by process in the rehabilitation project of a zone polluted by hydrocarbons. There were implemented the eight steps in the problem solution and the study method of production management. There were identified deficiencies in the performance of the process and it was evaluated as steady and incapable. It was simulated and improvement proposition, where the results showed its feasibility. It was diminished the 53.33 % of the productive cycle time and its stability was achieved. There were diminished the costs in a 10.57 %. It was contributed to the achievement of cleaner productions
Nanoporous PMMA: A novel system with different acoustic properties
The acoustic properties of closed cell nanoporous and microporous poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) foams have been well characterized, showing that nanoporous PMMA exhibit a different absorption coefficient and transmission loss behavior in comparison with microporous PMMA. Experimental differences may be explained by the different wave propagation mechanism in the micro and nanoscale, which is determined by the confinement of both the gas (Knudsen regime) and the solid phases. These results place nanoporous materials as a new class of polymeric porous material with potential properties in the field of acoustics, especially in multifunctional systems requiring a certain degree of soundproofing
