Jornalismo líquido: tendências de ampliação do campo

his article derives from a broader investigation which discusses the metamorphoses that are established for the mediation and the capability for processing of the news in the culture of the convergence and digitalization. As a direct result of the investigation seven trends to enlarge the boundaries of the field are highlighted: 1) diffuse journalism, 2) residual recovery journalism, 3) deepening of journalism in collaboration, 4) predominance of news centered on the reader, 5) more value given to local content, 6) personalization of the fruition of the news, and 7) plurality of voices and framings with regard to the same fact. Methodologically, it is a theoretical and critical article, developed from review of the literature and empirical observation.O artigo deriva de uma investigação mais abrangente que discute as metamorfoses que se instauram para a mediação e para a processualidade da notícia na cultura da convergência e da digitalização. Como resultado direto da investigação sinalizam-se sete tendências de alargamento das fronteiras do campo: 1) jornalismo difuso, 2) jornalismo de recuperação residual e 3) jornalismo de aprofundamento em colaboração, 4) predominância de notícias centradas no leitor, 5) valorização do conteúdo local, 6) personalização da fruição das notícias e 7) pluralidade de vozes e enquadramentos sobre um mesmo fato. Semiótica e audiovisualidades: ensaio sobre a natureza do fenômeno audiovisual

This article discusses the nature of audiovisual phenomena. It is based on the combination of two complementary perspectives: Charles Sanders Peirce’s phenomenological theory and its review by Gilles Deleuze in Image-Time. To the three categories proposed by Pierce – firstness, secondness, and thirdness – Deleuze adds one more – zeroness. This category is able to recognize the legitimacy and duration of the phenomena in virtuality. Such a review makes it possible to move from the studies of the audiovisual per se – with its textualizations, conditions of production and production of interpretees – to the study of the audiovisualities, with their imageness and virtual configurations expressed in what we, inspired by Arlindo Machado (1997) in another context, call pre-audiovisual and post-audiovisual. Key words: audiovisualities, Peircean semiotics, phenomenology.A proposta deste artigo é discutir a natureza do fenômeno audiovisual a partir do confronto entre a teoria fenomenológica de Charles Sanders Peirce e sua revisão crítica empreendida por Gilles Deleuze em Imagem-tempo. Além das três categorias propostas por Peirce – primeiridade, secundidade e terceiridade – Deleuze propõe uma quarta – a zeroidade – capaz de reconhecer a legitimidade e a duração dos fenômenos em virtualidade. Tal revisão permite a passagem dos estudos do audiovisual propriamente dito – com suas textualizações, condições de produção e produção de interpretantes – para o estudo das audiovisualidades, com suas imagicidades e configurações virtuais expressas naquilo a que podemos, nesta pesquisa, denominar, inspirados por Arlindo Machado (1997) em outro contexto, de pré-audiovisual e pós-audiovisual. In it, Alexandre, then a candidate for a master’s degree, discusses some conceptions of intertextuality in conjunction with the Nietzschean problem of the overcoming of man as a form, as well as the cartographies that configure communication's sense. A dispersão na semiótica das minorias

We propose a study of the semiosis engendered by minorities as communication acts. Such perspective, by imposing a primacy of communication processes over signifying systems, descenters the focus from a code-bases theory to a signic production theory, here approached from the point of view of the dispersions they produce in relation to media culture.  Between the many ways able to grasp minorities, we will approach the ones associated with sexual and racists’ regimes, as we understand that those regimes shape communications in the 20th century. Therefore, the homosexualities shape dispersions shape dispersions in the universe of sexuality, and racism constitute the techniques that produce a context in which minorities can be identified.Propõe-se o estudo das semioses engendradas pelas minorias como atos de comunicação. Tal perspectiva, ao impor a primazia dos processos de comunicação sobre os sistemas de significação, desloca o foco das teorias dos códigos para as teorias da produção sígnica, aqui abordadas do ponto de vista das dispersões que produzem em relação à cultura das mídias. Entre as diversas opções capazes de tematizar minorias, abordam-se, aqui, aquelas associadas aos regimes sexuais e racistas, por se considerar que esses regimes caracterizam as comunicações no século XX. Assim, as homossexualidades tematizam as dispersões no âmbito da sexualidade e os racismos constituem as técnicas que estabelecem um tipo de contexto em que as minorias são identificáveis

Building Contrastive Summaries of Subjective Text Via Opinion Ranking

This article investigates methods to automatically compare entities from opinionated text to help users to obtain important information from a large amount of data, a task known as “contrastive opinion summarization”. The task aims at generating contrastive summaries that highlight differences between entities given opinionated text (written about each entity individually) where opinions have been previously identified. These summaries are made by selecting sentences from the input data. The core of the problem is to find out how to choose these more relevant sentences in an appropriate manner. The proposed method uses a heuristic that makesdecisions according to the opinions found in the input text and to traits that a summary is expected to present. The evaluation is made by measuring three characteristics that contrastive summaries are expected to have: representativity (presence of opinions that are frequent in the input), contrastivity (presence of opinions that highlight differences between entities) and diversity (presence of different opinions to avoid redundancy). The novel method is compared to methods previously published and performs significantly better than them according to the measures used. The main contributions of this work are: a comparative analysis of methods of contrastive opinion summarization, the proposal of a systematic way to evaluate summaries, the development of a new method that performs better than others previously known and the creation of a dataset for the task

New ASPN high efficiency treatment of ASTM M2 steel

Plasma nitriding treatments are applied to achieve excellent surface properties on steel parts and tools. Active screen plasma nitriding (ASPN) does not have the defects presents in direct nitriding plasma treatments (DCPN). However, ASPN require much longer processing times to develop surface layers as deep as those of DCPN. This work presents the development of a biased ASPN treatment system, to investigate the possibility of achieving greater efficiency. The treatments were performed on ASTM M2 steel samples using the same processing parameters in 4 different configurations: DCPN, ASPN and 2 active screen plasma nitriding with biased specimens voltage: one was called "bright bias", because biased voltage is high enough to develop a plasma glow on the samples, and the other "dark bias", where no plasma glow sheath is seen on the samples. The active screen dark biased treatment presented the best results. These results could be understood by the electromagnetic field generated by the bias source promoting the deposition of nitrogen ions on the surface of the part being treated. Therefore, it was demonstrated that the use of dark bias voltage in the active screen treatment in larger reactors is fundamental to achieve good nitriding results in smaller times
