    Key Phrase Extraction of Lightly Filtered Broadcast News

    This paper explores the impact of light filtering on automatic key phrase extraction (AKE) applied to Broadcast News (BN). Key phrases are words and expressions that best characterize the content of a document. Key phrases are often used to index the document or as features in further processing. This makes improvements in AKE accuracy particularly important. We hypothesized that filtering out marginally relevant sentences from a document would improve AKE accuracy. Our experiments confirmed this hypothesis. Elimination of as little as 10% of the document sentences lead to a 2% improvement in AKE precision and recall. AKE is built over MAUI toolkit that follows a supervised learning approach. We trained and tested our AKE method on a gold standard made of 8 BN programs containing 110 manually annotated news stories.     Hydrodynamic signatures and spectral properties of the quantum vortex

    We characterize the low-lying excitations of a quantum vortex in a quasi-two-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) using the standard definition of the density of states (DOS) and a modified version that is sensitive to complementary aspects of the excitation's spectrum. The latter proves to be particularly relevant to studying the polaronic state realized when an impurity is embedded in a quantum vortex. We establish that the impurity becomes sensitive to the transversal fluctuations of the vortex, via its remnant kelvon mode, and to the phase fluctuations of the BEC Nambu-Goldstone mode. The presence of the vortex yields an anomalous excitation spectrum with a finite energy gap and non-linear DOS at low energies. We find that the high sensitivity of the kelvon mode to external potentials provides a channel of quantum-level control over impurities trapped in a vortex. This extra control channel may be of practical use for the proposal of using vortex-trapped impurities as qubit units for quantum information processing.Comment: (v. 2) Changes in the language and structure of the abstract, introduction and conclusion; minimal change in the title.     Phosphodiesterase Type 5 Inhibitors and Visual Side Effects: A Narrative Review

    Phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors such as sildenafil citrate and tadalafil are well known for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. However, their use in the presence of pulmonary hypertension can cause ophthalmologic side effects, including non-arteritic optic ischemic neuropathy, chorioretinopathy, glaucoma, and optic atrophy. The present review aimed to identify these visual side effects and provide recommendations. We identified articles published from January 2000 to March 2019 on diseases arising from the management of sexual dysfunction in urology or pulmonary hypertension in pneumonia that could cause pathologic alterations in eye structure based on a literature search of the MEDLINE electronic database using keywords for the most common adverse effects and different kinds of phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors. After applying the exclusion criteria, we selected 36 of the 77 articles initially identified to write the narrative review and added 20 additional articles to completely describe the pathological entities. Phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors can cause side effects in the eye including ocular surface abnormalities, increased intraocular pressure and glaucoma, uveitis, non-arteritic ischemic neuropathy, chorioretinopathy, retinal occlusion, and visual field changes.     Optimization and Influence of GMAW Parameters for Weld Geometrical and Mechanical Properties Using the Taguchi Method and Variance Analysis

    Gas metal arc welding is one of the arc fusion processes that is widely used in industry due to its high efficiency. The correct selection of the input parameters has direct influence on the weld quality and, with the control of those parameters, it is possible to reduce the amount of weld material, improve its properties and then increase the productivity of the process. This study intends to take a group of weld parameters and submit them to the optimization by the Taguchi Method and check the influence of those through a Variance Analysis (ANOVA). An L9 orthogonal array gathered three parameters (weld voltage, weld speed and weld torch angle) into three levels, then, with all combinations set and performed, the macrography and the transversal tensile strength test provided, respectively, the geometrical and the mechanical properties. The signal-to-noise ratios enable the optimization and the ANOVA provided the influence of the input parameters on the response parameters. The weld speed appeared as the most influent parameter for the weld geometry, contributing 63.54% to reinforcement, 66.36% to width and 66.94% to penetration, and the weld torch angle the most influent to the ultimate transversal tensile strength (41.39%). The optimum levels to the reinforcement are 22.4 [V], 400 [mm/min] and 30 [°], to the width 22.4 [V], 300 [mm/min], 0 [°], to the penetration 23.3 [V], 400 [mm/min], 0 [°] and, lastly, to the ultimate transversal tensile strength 24.1 [V], 200 [mm/min], 15 [°].     Creating shared value in Rock in Rio business model: case study

    This discourse will attempt to discuss `Creation of Shared Value' (CSV) through the case study of the music festival "Rock in Rio" (RIR) in order to further understand the company's sustainability program. The main goal is to clearly recognize if RIR uses a genuine practice of CSV to accomplish their social policies. To commence, we started with the State of Art, studying the CSV theory created by Porter and Kramer, as well as the authors that were either in support of, or against, the strategy. Qualitative Research Method was used, thus focusing the enterprise case study, by analysing media interviews given by the managerial staff of RIR. Content analysis was used to process data and deliver results. The main limitation of the study was the lack of institutional information, due to an absence of responses, to the survey in sufficient time by RIR's managers, subsequently a triangulation of the information acquired could not be achieved.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio

    Al-containing MCM-41 type materials prepared by different synthesis methods: hydrothermal stability and catalytic properties

    Al-containing MCM-41 type materials were prepared by three different synthesis methods (aluminum grafting on the calcined MCM-41, pH adjustment during the crystallization period and crystallization in the presence of zeolite seeds). The samples were characterized by powder XRD, nitrogen adsorption, 27Al MAS NMR and FTIR with pyridine as probe molecule. All the samples exhibit a high hydrothermal stability at high temperature just with a minor structural degradation. N2 adsorption data obtained for the sample prepared from a gel containing zeolite seeds suggest a higher structural resistance to the hydrothermal treatment in comparison with the samples prepared by other methods. A different type of pyridine adsorbed, probably interacting simultaneously with a Brönsted and a Lewis acid site, is observed upon pyridine adsorption. This type of adsorption is stronger for the sample prepared in the presence of zeolite seeds and is not observed on Al-grafted MCM-41. 2 The catalytic activity towards the isomerization of α-pinene depends mainly on the number of Brönsted acid sites. The data obtained in this study strongly indicate that for this type of materials, the Lewis acid sites do not influence the selectivity for the isomerization products

    Computational Simulation of an Agricultural Robotic Rover for Weed Control and Fallen Fruit Collection—Algorithms for Image Detection and Recognition and Systems Control, Regulation, and Command

    The continuous rise in the world’s population has increased the need for food, resulting in a rise of agricultural holdings to ensure the supply of these goods directly to the populations and indirectly to all processing industries in the food business. This situation has led agriculture to reinvent itself and introduce new technics and tools to ensure tighter control of the crops and increase yields in food production. However, the lack of labor coupled with the evolution of weeds resistant to herbicides created a crisis in agricultural food production. However, with the growing evolution in electronics, automation, and robotics, new paths are emerging to solve these problems. A robotic rover was designed to optimize the tasks of weed control and collection of fallen fruits of an orchard. In weed control, a localized spraying system is proposed, therefore reducing the amount of applied herbicides. With fruit collection, it is possible to direct fallen fruits for animal feeding and possible to reduce microbial activity on the next campaign crops, therefore avoiding damage. This study proposes the simulation of this robotic rover on robotic simulation software. It also proposes the replication of a similar environment of an orchard to generate an algorithm that controls the rover on the tasks of localized spraying and fallen fruit collection. Creating and testing these algorithms by using a robotic simulator speed up and ease the evaluation of different scenarios and hypotheses, with the added benefit of being able to test two tasks simultaneously. This method also allows greater freedom and creativity because there are no concerns about hardware damage.     Gas-phase conversion of glycerol to allyl alcohol over vanadium-supported zeolite beta

    Vanadium oxide supported beta zeolite (Si/Al=25, 4% V) was used as catalyst for the one-pass gas-phase conversion of glycerol to allyl alcohol without any external reductant. The catalytic data strongly suggest a consecutive reactions path involving the dehydration to acrolein over the zeolite acid sites followed by a selective reduction through a hydrogen-transfer reaction. Acidity is expected to play a major role in what concerns the selectivity, as demonstrated by the catalytic results obtained by the impregnation of vanadium on a previously Cs-exchanged sample that achieved ca. 30% selectivity to allyl alcohol at ca. 20% glycerol conversion.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
