Tesis (Pedagogía en Inglés)Nowadays, the instruction of vocabulary on the acquisition and learning of English as a second language is important and it has been recognized as a relevant aspect by academics and theoreticians of the area. The aim of this study is to prove, through a concrete and an experimental form, the effectiveness of the constructivist strategy that uses the elaboration of didactic material as an improvement manner for the acquisition and learning of explicit vocabulary that, at the same time, may be meaningful to the pupils. The “Learning by Doing” strategy has been built under the perspective of the theory of constructivism, which has been adapted to be applied on two different educational establishments; both subsidized. The first school is located in El Belloto and the second school institution located in Villa Alemana. Accordingly, the thesis study was carried out on 5 different courses with a final average of 132 students. This inquiry has a quantitative nature with a quasi – experimental design that has as a sample a paired – dependent kind, which took into account the control subunits and the experimental subunits from each EFL (English as a Foreign Language) classroom where the strategy previously mentioned was conducted. As described on the previous paragraph, the results were analyzed using a mathematical – statistical type of measurement denominated “T – Test” table. These demonstrated that the constructivist strategy namely “Learning by Doing” improve the learning of explicit vocabulary on those grades belonging to the primary education.

Master's thesis in International hotel and tourism managementThree are the main contributions that I pretend to provide through this research. First, I will combine four theoretical constructs that, to my knowledge, have not been worked through this way before. I mean that this research is attempting to validate and estimate the existing relationships between Self-efficacy, Perceived Personal Goal Orientation, Perceived Environment Goal Orientation and Perceived Personal Performance. There is much evidence in the literature that has explored the connections between self-efficacy and the goal theory as I will show later. Those works used to focus on explaining how setting goals improves performance in a varied set of fields. Goals are “what an individual is trying to accomplish; it is the object or aim of an action“ (E. Locke, Saari, L., Shaw, K., and Latham, G., 1981). There is some agreement that setting goals increase performance in two ways: first, there is a direct relation between setting goals and performance, and, second, goals and performance relationship is mediated by self-efficacy: greater performance increase self-perceptions of competence, as a consequence, individuals would set even higher goals (Edwin A. Locke & Latham, 1990). However, for this project, my focus is on the analysis of goal orientation. For the sake of a better understanding of this project, I have to explain -before going deeper- what is the difference between “setting goals” and “goal orientation”. The former refers to the individual’s actions oriented to establish –formally or informally- future goals related to upcoming events. For example, when a university student is getting ready for final exams might set (as a goals) to obtain A or B grades only. This research aims to determine the relationship between the types of work-family interaction with the level of parental self-efficacy perceived by a sample of parents with children with disabilities, considering the characteristics of the types of disability as a negative factor that generates significant differences, both self-efficacy levels and the types of interaction, which can lead to conflict between family and work. The study sample comprised a total ofInteracción 133 agents belonging to 7 special schools in the city of Talca. Data were collected using Parental Rating Scale or EPP (Farkas, 2008) for parental self-efficacy variable and the Spanish version of the questionnaire 71 SWING (Geurts, Taris, Kompier, Dikkers, Van Hooff & Kinnunen, 2005) for evaluation work-family interaction. The results show that there is an association between the types of work-family interaction and parental self-efficacy for this population, in this respect it differs from the results of other research with Chilean population (Riquelme and Rojas, 2010; Jimenez, Concha y Zúñiga, 2012) having as plausible difference in educational attainment between the research samples. The work-family interaction is positive and arises predominantly from family to work (x = 10.55, σ = 4.19), parental self-efficacy perception for parents with children with disabilities is to be low (x = 48 , 95, σ = 15.19) as expected for reasons of parental stress. No significant differences between the types of disability for any of the two variables, concluding that disability is established as a unique condition for all parents and family that changes, reorganizes to maintain a good family functioning.

List of Clustered Permutations in Secondary Memory

Similarity search is a difficult problem and various indexing schemas have been defined to process similarity queries efficiently in many applications, including multimedia databases and other repositories handling complex objects. Metric indices support efficient similarity searches, but most of them are designed for main memory. Thus, they can handle only small datasets, suffering serious performance degradations when the objects reside on disk. Most real-life database applications require indices able to work on secondary memory. Among a plethora of indices, the List of Clustered Permutations (LCP) has shown to be competitive in main memory, since groups the permutations and establishes a criterion to discard whole clusters according the permutation of their centers. We introduce a secondary-memory variant of the LCP, which maintains the low number of distance evaluations when comparing the permutations themselves, and also needs a low number of I/O operations at construction and searching.XII Workshop Bases de Datos y Minería de Datos (WBDDM)Red de Universidades con Carreras en Informática (RedUNCI
