On the Singular Scheme of Split Foliations

We prove that the tangent sheaf of a codimension one locally free distribution splits as a sum of line bundles if and only if its singular scheme is arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay. In addition, we show that a foliation by curves is given by an intersection of generically transversal holomorphic distributions of codimension one if and only if its singular scheme is arithmetically Buchsbaum. Finally, we establish that these foliations are determined by their singular schemes, and deduce that the Hilbert scheme of certain arithmetically Buchsbaum schemes of codimension $2$ is birational to a Grassmannian.Comment: 21 page

Episiotomia Seletiva Nos Dias Atuais: Indicações, Técnica E Associação Com Lacerações Perineais Graves

Episiotomy is a controversial procedure, especially because the discussion that surrounds it has gone beyond the field of scientific debate, being adopted as an indicator of the "humanization of childbirth". The scientific literature indicates that episiotomy should not be performed routinely, but selectively. Objectives To review the literature in order to assess whether the implementation of selective episiotomy protects against severe perineal lacerations, the indications for the procedure, and the best technique to perform it. Methods A literature search was performed in PubMed using the terms episiotomy or perineal lacerations, and the filter clinical trial. The articles concerning the risk of severe perineal lacerations with or without episiotomy, perineal protection, or episiotomy techniques were selected. Results A total of 141 articles were identified, and 24 of them were included in the review. Out of the 13 studies that evaluated the risk of severe lacerations with and without episiotomy, 5 demonstrated a protective role of selective episiotomy, and 4 showed no significant differences between the groups. Three small studies confirmed the finding that episiotomy should be performed selectively and not routinely, and one study showed that midline episiotomy increased the risk of severe lacerations. The most cited indications were primiparity, fetal weight greater than 4 kg, prolonged second stage, operative delivery, and shoulder dystocia. As for the surgical technique, episiotomies performed with wider angles (> 40°) and earlier in the second stage (before "crowning ") appeared to be more protective. Conclusions Selective episiotomy decreases the risk of severe lacerations when compared with the non-performance or the performance of routine episiotomy. The use of a proper surgical technique is fundamental to obtain better results, especially in relation to the angle of incision, the distance from the vaginal introitus, and the correct timing for performing the procedure. Not performing the episiotomy when indicated or not applying the correct technique may increase the risk of severe perineal lacerations.38630130

Dimensionality Reduction of very large document collections by Semantic Mapping

This paper describes improving in Semantic Mapping, a feature extraction method useful to dimensionality reduction of vectors representing documents of large text collections. This method may be viewed as a specialization of the Random Mapping, method proposed in WEBSOM project. Semantic Mapping, Random Mapping and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) are applied to categorization of document collections using Self-Organizing Maps (SOM). Semantic Mapping generated document representation as good as PCA and much better than Random Mapping

Não exclui, contudo, o diálogo de sua produção poética com a literatura francófona, à qual os literatos brasileiros se vincularam estreitamente durante muito tempo. Não existindo até o presente momento, no âmbito acadêmico, uma pesquisa abrangente cujo escopo seja a crítica e a análise dos poemas deste autor, este ensaio e a pesquisa materializada nele pretendem divulgar sua poesia e aprofundar as reflexões possíveis sobre ela.This essay attempts to extend our knowledge about the poetry of Ernani Rosas, his techniques and his connection with the trends in literary tradition, chiefly related to the Portuguese language, in addition to his contribution to that tradition. However, this study does not exclude the dialogue between his poetic production and French-language literature, to which Brazilian writers were closely attached. Given that no comprehensive research has been conducted so far, whose aim is the criticism and the analysis of poems of this writer, the purpose of this essay and its research is to disseminate this writer#s poetry and elaborate on possible reflections on it

Explorando a relação entre redes espaciais na escala regional e indicadores econômicos das cidades: o caso do RS

The spatial structure of cities and regions is becoming more complex, and the socio-spatial interactions that occur in networks of cities seem to play an important role, influencing the economic potential of municipalities. This paper aims to present a methodology that allows analyzing the role of the regional spatial network configuration on the economic performance of the municipalities. The investigation is linked to ​​urban morphology studies, using a systemic and quantitative approach from configurational studies. The network of cities in Rio Grande do Sul is taken as the empirical study. The spatial network model (graph) consists of municipalities (nodes) and highways (connections), allowing the calculation of accessibility and centrality measures. The results of these measures are then related to the economic attributes of the municipalities (GDP and GVA) through a statistical analysis of clusters. The empirical study revealed evidence that a good performance of the municipalities in the configurational network is associated with specific economic indicators: higher GDP, higher values ​​of GVA for industry and services and lower values ​​of agricultural GVA. The conclusions seek to discuss the potential and limitations of the proposed methodology to understand the regional spatial structure.La estructura espacial de las ciudades y regiones se está volviendo más compleja, y las interacciones socioespaciales que ocurren en las redes de ciudades parecen jugar un papel importante, influyendo en el potencial económico de los municipios. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar una metodología que permita analizar el papel de la configuración de la red espacial de municipios en su desempeño económico. La investigación se inserta en el área de la morfología urbana, a través de un enfoque sistémico y cuantitativo, en el campo de los estudios de configuración urbana. La red de ciudades en Rio Grande do Sul se toma como un estudio empírico. El modelo de la red espacial (grafo) consiste en los municipios (nodos) y carreteras (conexiones), y se calculan las medidas de accesibilidad y centralidad configuracional. Los resultados de estas medidas se relacionan con los atributos económicos de los municipios (PIB y VAB) a través del análisis estadístico de clusters. El estudio empírico reveló evidencia de que un buen desempeño de los municipios en la red de configuración está asociado con indicadores económicos específicos: mayor PIB, valores más altos de VAB para la industria y los servicios y valores más bajos de VAB agrícola. Las conclusiones buscan discutir el potencial y los límites de la metodología propuesta para comprender la estructura espacial regional.A estrutura espacial de cidades e regiões vem se tornando mais complexa, sendo que as interações sócio-espaciais que ocorrem em redes de cidades parecem ter um papel importante, influenciando o potencial econômico dos municípios. O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar uma metodologia que permita analisar o papel da configuração da rede espacial de municípios no seu desempenho econômico. A investigação se insere na área da morfologia urbana, através de um enfoque sistêmico e quantitativo, no campo dos estudos configuracionais urbanos. Toma-se como estudo empírico a rede de cidades no Rio Grande do Sul. O modelo da rede espacial (grafo) é constituído pelos municípios (nós) e pelas rodovias (ligações), sendo calculadas as medidas de acessibilidade e centralidade configuracional. Os resultados destas medidas são então relacionados a atributos econômicos dos municípios (PIB e VAB) através de uma análise estatística de clusters. O estudo empírico revelou evidências de que um bom desempenho dos municípios na rede configuracional está associado a indicadores econômicos específicos: maior PIB, maiores valores de VAB indústria e serviços e menores valores de VAB agropecuária. Indización automática de artículos científicos sobre Biblioteconomía y Documentación con SISA, KEA y MAUI

This article evaluates the SISA (Automatic Indexing System), KEA (Keyphrase Extraction Algorithm) and MAUI (Multi-Purpose Automatic Topic Indexing) automatic indexing systems to find out how they perform in relation to human indexing. SISA’s algorithm is based on rules about the position of terms in the different structural components of the document, while the algorithms for KEA and MAUI are based on machine learning and the statistical features of terms. For evaluation purposes, a document collection of 230 scientific articles from the Revista Española de Documentación Científica published by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) was used, of which 30 were used for training tasks and were not part of the evaluation test set. The articles were written in Spanish and indexed by human indexers using a controlled vocabulary in the InDICES database, also belonging to the CSIC. The human indexing of these documents constitutes the baseline or golden indexing, against which to evaluate the output of the automatic indexing systems by comparing terms sets using the evaluation metrics of precision, recall, F-measure and consistency. The results show that the SISA system performs best, followed by KEA and MAUI.Este artículo evalúa los sistemas de indización automática SISA (Automatic Indexing System), KEA (Keyphrase Extraction Algorithm) y MAUI (Multi-Purpose Automatic Topic Indexing) para averiguar cómo funcionan en relación con la indización realzada por especialistas. El algoritmo de SISA se basa en reglas sobre la posición de los términos en los diferentes componentes estructurales del documento, mientras que los algoritmos de KEA y MAUI se basan en el aprendizaje automático y las frecuencia estadística de los términos. Para la evaluación se utilizó una colección documental de 230 artículos científicos de la Revista Española de Documentación Científica, publicada por el Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), de los cuales 30 se utilizaron para tareas formativas y no formaban parte del conjunto de pruebas de evaluación. Los artículos fueron escritos en español e indizados por indizadores humanos utilizando un vocabulario controlado en la base de datos InDICES, también perteneciente al CSIC. La indización humana de estos documentos constituye la referencia contra la cual se evalúa el resultado de los sistemas de indización automáticos, comparando conjuntos de términos usando métricas de evaluación de precisión, recuperación, medida F y consistencia. Metodologia jurídica e internacionalização dos contratos

A montagem contratual tem que começar pelo problema das definições no contrato.
