Price and income elasticities of demand for housing characteristics in the city of Barcelona
In this paper we estimate price and income elasticities of demand for a series of housing characteristics (quantity, quality and location) using the information contained in four cross sections of properties appraised in the city of Barcelona in the period 1998-2001. To do so we employ the two-stage approach proposed by Rosen (1974), estimating hedonic price equations for different districts in order to subsequently estimate the corresponding demand equations of various characteristics. The results allow us to analyse the complementarity or substitutability relationships among the characteristics analysed, and also to catalogue these characteristics as goods, according to the income elasticities obtained. By knowing the price, cross and income elasticities of housing characteristics we can make policy recommendations about the type of housing units which are the most desirable to be subsidized

The adaptation of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) in the Spanish universities it is implying a change of educational paradigm for undergraduate education. Traditionally, undergraduate education in Spain has been delivered under the Instruction Paradigm based on providing instruction. However,
in the experimental introduction to the EEES a move towards the Learning Paradigm, the basis of which is to produce learning, has been observed. This paper analyses the effects on students satisfaction after modifying the teaching methodology so that subjects become nearer the Learning Paradigm. The data has been extracted from the satisfaction surveys completed by students in subjects belonging to the accounting area at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. The main results of the model show that the satisfaction was higher during the initial testing period of the me thodology than in the consolidation period. This satisfaction drop coincides with an increased student workload due to the higher number of subjects taught simultaneously under the new methodologyLa adaptación de las universidades españolas al Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior (EEES) ha introducido un cambio de modelo educativo.
Factors Affecting Time Spent Visiting Heritage City Areas
Urban tourism is growing fast, and in many cities visitor influx tends to concentrate in historic urban centers. When there are large numbers of visitors, deepening the knowledge on visitor time consumption is critical to better managing their impact on the city, and creating a sustainable city tourism destination. This has generated an increasing interest in the micro-spatial and temporal dimensions of tourist behavior in city tourism research and planning. This article focuses on modelling the factors affecting the duration of visits to each heritage attraction, and to the whole visit to the heritage city. This study adds to previous research in several ways: it uses survival models; distinguishes between attractions with and without an entrance fee; and tests how visitor type affects time behavior, for example, day visitor versus tourists, peak season versus off-peak season, informed visitors versus non-informed visitors, highly motivated visitors versus visitors with low motivation. Results show that there is significant heterogeneity in time consumption. This is generated by factors such as traveling with children, cultural proximity, rating of the attraction, and price and time constraints. Some evidence is also found, which suggests first-time visitor and informed visitors have an impact on time consumption
Exposure to valproic acid is associated with less pulmonary infiltrates and improvements in diverse clinical outcomes and laboratory parameters in patients hospitalized with COVID-19.
Valproic acid (VPA) has shown beneficial effects in vitro against SARS-CoV-2 infection, but no study has analyzed its efficacy in the clinical setting. This multicenter, retrospective study included 165 adult patients receiving VPA at the time of admission to hospital, and 330 controls matched for sex, age and date of admission. A number of clinical, outcome and laboratory parameters were recorded to evaluate differences between the two groups. Four major clinical endpoints were considered: development of lung infiltrates, in-hospital respiratory worsening, ICU admissions and death. VPA-treated patients had higher lymphocyte (P VPA-treated patients seem to develop less serious COVID-19 than control patients, according to diverse clinical endpoints and laboratory markers
Length of stay for tourists' inland trips
This paper addresses the problems of scant research on the Province of Malaga's interior and heterogeneous
results of research on length of stay. Based on a negative binomial regression model and data from 675 surveys,
the results suggest that two different patterns coexist simultaneously regarding variables’ impacts on the length
of stay of national versus foreign tourists. For domestic tourists, their reasons for travelling condition length of
stay, whereas, for international tourists, satisfaction has the most significant impact on length of stay. In addition,
this paper confirms a negative relationship between income and length of stay. Implications for the
tourism industry at the destination in question and possible future research are discusse
